The forest was relatively quiet somewhat. It was quite odd, to find it so peaceful here. There was nothing but the shining rays of light coming from the sun high above the trees, the leaves swaying back and forth in the crisp breeze of autumn. Though, the sunlight was relatively warm. The light filtered down upon the man's features, pale white skin contrasting with dark hair and clothing beneath the trees' shade. His boots pressed onward, stepping along the wooden bark and dirt below. It felt so foreign to him, being here again. To be back at Aelfmenn, it felt incredibly nostalgic. Though, those were not extremely pleasant memories. In fact, perhaps those were more of his worse years. That was not long after his hometown had fallen, and he moved here, to live as a refuge as a result of the war. did they know what the rest of the forest was like? It was different, even if Dryhtwood were all the same. Aelfmenn Kingdom was a bustling place, full of life and elves, such grandeur, exquisiteness of the capitol of the elves. He remembered those memories, however fondly, of those times when he was a nothing, a mere fortune teller trying to make coin upon the stoned streets of the marketplace. Those were old times indeed. Much has happened since then.
Now, he was deep within the dense trees. Not very far from the castle, in fact that was where he was headed. The majestic stoned walls stood close, and he could see them clearly through the many plants that blocked his way. Standing in their backyard, one may call it. But, if his predictions were right, what he was looking for would be coming this way soon. No, not a what, but a who. The things that the plant had told him... it bugged him. Not only that, but what he had sensed. Looking through the eyes of the earth, it had told him something. It was trying to tell him something. That something was going to happen. And, somehow, it had to do with the royal family. He didn't know what it was, so he had come here to find out. To find a clue as a piece to fit into the puzzle at least. What information he would gather here, would be useful for him either way. He hadn't known much about the royal family, nor paid them much heed, even during his time as Lore Keeper. But now, this would be his time to check it out. Deciding to pick the youngest in the family, the one that might be able to help him most, a young, open mind that would heed his words, would be best to see. Though, he was not thinking of seeing the bastard prince. He had some connections to what he had been seeing, so he chose his next option. The woman, who seemed to not have a place in anything. Nothing from what he could see. Yes, she would be best.
Knowing that she would be coming here, for what reason Orin did not know. All he knew as that she would appear in this forest at this hour. Waiting patiently among the trees, he made himself camouflaged amongst with his dark clothing, unseen from the eyes of guards. However, as he heard footsteps approaching, it had caught his attention. Stepping from his place, he emerged from beyond the trees. So this was the princess.
"Eolande," he said, voice sharp and clear. She might have known him, as the previous lore keeper that had helped in the plant hunt. Her mother had helped lead the hunt, but whether or not she had told her much about it, he did not know. Or she might have even learned about him from a book about history or two, but those would have to have been made fairly recently. He doubted she knew about him either way, and so, he continued. "I have sensed something within the partaking of your kin." He expected her to know somewhat, or to explain. He looked at her intently, a somber gaze of dark piercing eyes. He was testing her. To see if she knew anything.

One of Eolande's favorite things to do was to explore the forest, especially on horseback, which was what she was doing today. Dressed in a prim riding habit of forest green, as well as a hat with a fantastic feather sticking out of it, she made a smart little figure on her pure white mare. The forest seemed peaceful this time of day, but if one tuned into the sounds of the forest, the birds were riotous in their searches for mates, and the rustlings of small creatures could be picked up from the thickets. A retinue of guards accompanied her on her ride through the forest today, though she didn't want them to; it seemed that, as a member of the royal family, precautions had to be taken with her safety. After all, she wasn't the most well-versed in defending herself. But no one seemed to notice the other elf in the forest until they were right upon him, and Eolande gave a start when he stepped out in front of her. His appearance was somewhat startling; the sharp contrast of his skin to his dark clothes, the antlers... and he seemed to know who she was. Faintly, she had a memory of tales of such a person. Had she seen it in a book, or heard guards talking about him? It didn't matter. Reining up her horse, she looked hesitantly at one of her guards, who didn't seem to know what to make of him either. The man spoke again, this time speaking of her family, the royal family. "I- I am very sorry, sir, but I do not know you. Who are you?" Orin Forst

Orin of course, hadn't expected the guards to arrive as well. He stood before the crew, at a distance as his staff was planted on the ground, unoffensive position on his part however the guards were growing wary of his presence. He could tell the suspicion in their eye, who would be this mysterious shaman in the forest? Nearly sighing to himself, he placed a hand up, to perhaps calm the unnerved guards, as a sign that he had come in peace. He was no assassin, that was for certain. Though, he couldn't help but let them continue to be a tad bit wary. After all, none had seemed to have known who he was. He had expected the princess to arrive here, alone. Maybe this was a mistake to come at this time, but it was too late now. The gears had already been set in motion. Nearing bit closer toward the young woman upon the horse, he looked up at her directly. "Princess Eolande. I must speak to you in private," he said, not quite stating his name yet. He did not wish to fight any of the guards if they attacked him, but he had no other way of letting them be able to trust him alone with her, unless it was under her direct orders. Planning to go that route, he took but only a step closer.
"I have participated in the plant hunt alongside your mother. You have nothing to fear from me." Still, his identity was kept a secret. He would tell her once they were alone, however he did not wish to say so in front of these guards. As a final act of suggestion, he stood right before her and her horse. "Something is going to happen, and I suspect that a member of your family may contribute to it," his choice of words were a little risky, however, if she would be willing enough he would explain in more detail later on. "I have my ways of seeing things in the world that others cannot. Let your guards stand down now, or else lest me force my way into finding out." He would not let anything stand in his way of trying to figure out if something in the royal family really was going to have an affect on the world. He sensed something, and he did not wish to blame her, but he would find out how she acted in the here and now. He was determined to figure out if anything potentially could happen from the royal family, and to end it here and now. But, he would need the words of Princess Eolande first.

After the initial shock of the other elf's appearance wore off, Eolande didn't feel really threatened by him. Her horse, to whom she credited with having the sense of nearly any human, also wasn't reacting badly to the appearance of the strange elf. In fact, she was looking at him curiously, her ears forward and alert. The princess cleared her throat softly when the elf began to approach, beginning to feel nervous again, but his words made her pause. Was he some sort of prophesier? The guards, who had their hands on their weapons, prepared to defend her, gazed at the strange elf as well. But Eolande quickly said, "Stand down." Then she gazed at the other elf and blinked. "Very well," she said after a hesitant pause, her curiosity taking over. Gracefully dismounting, she handed the reins to the guard nearest to her, then turned to face the elf. "Lead the way." He continued to stand there stiffly as the guards lowered their defensive stance, and when she approached him he turned around, briefly looking over his shoulder dark eyes gazed toward the guards. "We shall not be long," he said, however he was talking to them more so than the princess. Then, he turned around again, stepping forward into the dense forest, walking into they headed into a small clearing of a tiny meadow, the vibrant green grass stretching along a small creek. A few broken logs sat here and there. This would be a good place. Sighing, he then turned around to face her, near the other edge of the dense trees. They would be unperturbed here, if the guards were loyal they would stay there with her horse. Facing her, the elf then eased his stance, as to not seem to imposing at the moment. She was most likely going to be confused about the words coming from his mouth, however he had to try at least.
"Have you noticed anything strange happening in your family?" he started, with an inquiry that sounded, pretty much to the point. He decided to ask her directly, as to determine whether or not she knew of anything or not. He could easily tell if she was hiding something, however he tried not to judge at first moments.

Eolande watched the other elf warily as he led her deeper into the forest, acutely aware of the absence of her guards. She hoped that, if he turned out to be a threat, she would be able to defend herself long enough for her guards to come and assist her. As the pair stopped in the small meadow, she stood a little bit away from the strange elf, still wary of his presence. She had never seen a stranger looking elf, though it was a bit fascinating and exciting to meet someone as him. The elf began talking, but Eolande held up a hand, her queenly demeanor coming out momentarily. "Before I speak to you, I must know who you are," she said softly, her eyes watching his every movement. As soon as she received a satisfactory answer, she thought, trying to come up with a response. Things in the royal home had never been quite normal. Her brothers' relationship recently had been rather strained, and then there was that business with Cyril's personality change several years back. The princess wasn't sure how to respond, so she shook her head slowly. "I'm... not really sure what you mean, sir." Orin Forst

"I am Orin Forst," he announced, looking at her directly in the eye as he gazed. Indeed, he typically wouldn't give his identity out so easily, but if she recognized the name, she would know who he was. But, he doubted she would, judging from the fact that she hadn't recognized him already. Even though she probably sought more information, he felt that it would be wise to not give out more. If there really was something happening within the royal family, although she wasn't suspect but if information were to reach through them then he must not be found out. He doubted that she would remember his name either. But then he rose a hand, as if to feel the air, an extended palm as he felt some pollen fall into his hand before letting it go into the breeze, falling over the green meadow as it joined back where from it had originated from. "Let me show you," he said. He made his decision to show her what he has seen, rather than just taking his word for it.
Bending over and picking up some dirt upon the ground, he stood again, holding the grains within his fist. Smiling for only a brief moment, he soon let the dirt fall to the ground, the wind picking up strongly around them as it blew the dust in all sorts of directions, mingling with stray leaves and twigs. Upon the grass below, lied the dirt in the same of a crown. Up from the crown, sprouted a tree, branch to branch as they fell amongst the dirt as it continued to paint the picture below. As the twigs fell, representing the branches, the leaves aligned. More and more branches, until they extended to where she stood, before being swept up into the air once more. Orin looked up as feathers, dark as night, fell from the sky and landed into the mixture below. The wind picked them up, creating a dust cloud representing a crow, swooping upward and a beak opening widely as it headed toward the crown. However, from the tree, a collection of leaves swept up, as if it were one entity, creating a bird of prey of its own as it collided with the crow, exploding into pieces before the dust of the crown crumbled, shattering as the many leaves and twigs became disfigured, moving seemingly on their own as the long line was broken. More dust came, swept over the large picture and turned it into nothingness.
It may have seemed like not a huge matter to her, or confusing at that, but Orin looked down upon it with solemn eyes, as if there was a hint of sadness to them. It didn't mean much to her but to him he could read more than many words. It read war. Disaster. Who knew but from where would it all start from? The dust. The lives of elves that would be cost. A civil war perhaps? But who is starting it? He didn't reason for anyone within the castle to. After all, if there was going to be a war then there should be some sign of hostility now. But maybe it had yet to occur. Many, many years into the future however what he sought was current. It could happen tomorrow or any other day in the near future. He just didn't know when. Or how to stop it. But that crown was the royal authority of the elves. It was going to start from within.
"Tell me what you saw," he said, his eyes still fixated on the now greener grass of the meadow below, most of the dust gathered and blown away in the breeze. He would need her insight before asking anymore questions. He needed her to try and decide what it had meant for herself, he figured.

The name triggered the faintest bit of a memory in her mind, but she didn't bother trying to pursue it, as he began to show her something. Eolande's sharp eyes picked up everything that he did, though with perhaps less understanding than him. She saw the crow and the bird of prey collide in a spray of violence and the crown crumble subsequently. Swallowing nervously, she looked up at the elf when the vision was over. "A-a crown... a crow. They fought and the crown crumbled." It didn't take a genius to infer what this might mean. "There is going to be war." Orin Forst

Orin nodded. Indeed she was correct. What he had shown, was a war. "This is why I ask," he started, the wind picking away whatever dust was left as he took a few steps toward her, his face looking directly at her. "Have you noticed any odd behavior happening within the royal family?" he then asked, the wind picking up some strands of dark hair as he gazed upon her with graveness. He stood even closer to her then, hoping to hear words of truth. If another war was to begin, he couldn't hold back now. He had to figure out the source of the calamity before it begins. He just hoped that he was not spreading this plan into motion, a fate defined by what could possibly be his own hand. But would Eolande be the beginning of a war? He had doubts in his mind that an elf princess would ever begin such a thing. However he did not know her personally. But he could not see her starting a war for any reason. She did not quite resemble a crow or a bird of prey. Thus he assumed that showing her was safe. She did not know how much effect her hold would hold. Hold to him. Hold to the world. He would do everything in his power to make sure the flames would not devour the forest ever again. Not those innocent lives taken. And for what? Why on earth would the elves of all races, start a war? What would happen under the treaty? Unless...
Another war.
No, it couldn't be. The races beginning another war? Would that cause the elven hierarchy to collapse? But it appeared that it would start from the crown, that it would destroy itself from within. But, who would want another war? Perhaps maybe it's a divide of peace versus war hungry, causing the split of the crown and costing lives within their own kingdom. How could Orin stop this from happening? He continued to listen to her, eyes intently focused on her every movement. They were alone. Were she to be evil, although he doubted it, she could kill him with ease. However, he would be ready. A spear still in hand, he knew that the chances would be slim. If she could even fight that was. Though as he looked at her eyes he sensed no ill intent within them. He had made a good choice to confront her than the others. But would she be willing to sacrifice her family to prevent a war? Indeed the time for that question might come.

Eolande didn't meet his eyes as she tried to remember anything unusual. "I-I really can't think of anything. I'm sorry," she stammered quietly, sitting down heavily on a log. "I mean... my brothers aren't very close and I'm not very close to them. But all families are dysfunctional, aren't they?" She looked back up at him. "I'm really not sure what you want me to say," she said softly. Orin Forst

He listened to her somberly as she spoke, dark eyes understanding her words. Indeed, it might be much to ask, to notice anything different or off. Princess Eolande might have needed some time to think about it, but Orin did not. But as she spoke of her dysfunctional family, those words he paid much heed to. It could be a clue, and it made sense that were it the case, then one of them could indeed bring out a civil war. But that only left the two other brothers, and instead of seeming resentful, she seemed... saddened. Only those who were kind would try to reason why they were distant with their other relatives, than looking down on them. Stepping closer, Orin gave her a look of softness, looking down at her with some solemnity. His family was anything but dysfunctional. It had been peaceful. Everyone loved each other. They were always together. But that was before they were all gone in one night. That was a long time ago, who knew what the other elven families were like. Still standing, an arm reached to place a hand on her shoulder, looking at her with the same gaze. "Not all," he said reassuringly. "Not if you let them." Though of course it may be out of her control. But she had to take control of this, to heed his warning and to prevent another war from happening. She must find the courage to do so. The hand lifted from her shoulder, and Orin still stood there sternly.
He did not expect her to have a perfect answer, but that was more than good enough. A severed family tie would make much sense, however now that was needed was a plan to ensure that the future he foresaw would not come true. "Eolande," he started again, although this time with a mixture of sadness, understanding, and a hint of wisdom in his tone. "You must be the light within the darkness. No one is going to change your family if you do not. I do not have the power over them, but you must be able to bring them together. Tighten the bonds to ensure that this war does not start." His eyes narrowed, his form stiff as he continued.
"You do not wish to see this war, do you not?" his tone dropped low.

Eolande gazed up at him as he touched her shoulder, the smallest of frowns taking over her face. This strange elf was confusing her greatly, frightening her somewhat. She blinked at the ground. "What- what must I do? I have no power over my family. They all do as they please..." Orin Forst

He looked at her again, this time his eyes turning grim. She does not yet understand, the severity of this situation. The princess would need to find her own way to make this work. Orin did not have as much power as she did, especially that what pertained to her whole family. What they did that pleased themselves, even she held more weight than Orin could ever do. A simple calling, a gesture. Anything to prevent another war from breaking out. Yet she still did not understand that. Nevertheless, even secretly, he could hardly blame her. "Princess Ashwin," he said this time, even deeper in tone as he watched her movements gravely. "You do have power over your family, even if you do not yet understand," his chin raised, looking down at her with his dark eyes of severity and mysteriousness. Although he might have seemed angry, he was not. Though to many that might be the way he always looked. Ever so serious in all of his doings.
"You must do what you feel is right," he then said, another gust of wind picking up some strands of his long black hair. His eyes then averted into the distance, spotting from behind the brush the wandering gaze of perhaps a guard that might have been too wary. Of course, he couldn't prevent such a thing. Though their time of privacy was up it seemed. Looking back down at her, he could only trust her judgement, and to keep this a secret. From everyone. From her whole family. "It would appear I have spent enough of your time," he spoke with mysterious undertones, unable to decipher in his acknowledgement of the guard that stood a distance from them. Even though it was cut short, he had been glad to have this encounter. Though it could have gone much better, and planned, he was secretly fortunate to have this at all. Lending her a hand to stand if she so took it, he then looked at her with another somber gaze.
"Heed my words and think carefully the next time you encounter them once more..." he spoke, words ridden with secrecy of what they spoke of earlier.

Eolande waited to hear what he said and resisted a heavy sigh when he gave her a non-answer. It seemed she would have to figure out a way to stop the war on her own. Standing with his assistance, she brushed off her dress and gazed toward her guard, then back at Orin. "Thank you." Then, with queenly motions, she walked back towards the guards and mounted her horse again, wheeling back around towards the castle. Suddenly, a ride in the forest seemed like a waste of time.
