Magical Ability:
The element of earth, Orin has the power of abacomancy. It allows him to gain insight into a question or situation through small particles such as sand, dust, dirt, ash, and the like. It is a method that employs him to read the past, present, and future to help the problem at hand. However, it cannot be used without small particles, and it takes time and effort to decipher the patterns. His family had a history of having earth-related abilities, and both of his parents have had such.

Appearance:
A quite intimidating appearance, Orin dresses in dark clothing, either a dark green or full black, although it looks rather elegant. Most of the time he wears jagged armor that stems out, as if one will get stabbed if they neared. He will also wear antlers, branches, or other assortments around his neck and on top of his head, perhaps to keep off the animals from climbing his long black hair. His stern eyes are as dark as the night itself, and it contrasts to his pale skin. Sometimes he will wear warpaint, but it is rare.

Personality:
Very cryptic and aloof, Orin is one that is a very somber man. He is stern and authoritative, often demeaning those whom he encounters in the forest. He vows to protect the forest from any danger that presents itself in any way, shape or form. He does not often approach many, but he does sometimes in times he deems to give them advice. Sometimes he may act mellow, but it depends on how much a threat the other person appears to be. He does have some combat skills, like using a bow and arrow or a spear, but he relies mostly on his knowledge of the terrain to gain advantage. Though he rarely has to resort to fighting and would like for it to continue to be that way. (He secretly also has a humorous side, and likes to make jokes and likes to laugh at ones that others make.)

History:
Born in the midst of the Dryhtwood Forest, Orin was born to elves. He came from quite a large family, one that merrily lived in the woods by themselves, in the homes away from the Aelfmenn Kingdom and away from the war. Most in his family were cultivators of the land, and as the family lived in their own community of sorts they were able to sustain themselves. They were isolated from most of society, but they were happy. Orin was quite different from the other folk however, as his magic helped him gain insight into questions or problems, something which the other elves didn’t have. When he became an adult he often pondered about his purpose in life, but that was when one of them suggested that he should be the Lore Keeper. Perhaps it was in jest. He continued to live on merrily, not a care in the world. But one day, things would change.

He awoke one evening to find the houses burning on fire. The flames devoured his home, his family, everyone. Everything was lost. They were being raided by an enemy race, but Orin could not tell who it was. The elves were defenseless, helpless, and the small village was lost to the tragedy. Knowing that it was a losing fight, Orin hesitantly turned and fled.

After a long time wandering through the forest, Orin finally found himself in the Aelfmenn Kingdom. As he was an elf with no house or occupation, some kind elves took him in and gave him shelter, considering him a refuge of the war. He made a small living of being a sham fortune teller in the city, but his ultimate desire was to become the Lore Keeper, something that his family that had suggested to him. It was the only thing he had that he could still do for them. He had heard word that the Elf Council were still looking for a Lore Keeper since the previous one had past, and, taking this opportunity even though he knew he had a slim chance, he still presented himself to them.

In time, with no other options since so many of the elves were at war, Orin became the Lore Keeper. When he had shown him his magic they were pleased, and instead of fooling people about their futures he could put his magic to good use. There were many unanswered questions about the elves, he soon discovered, and once he arrived at the library he soon got to work. He took his work very seriously, and over time, he began to see much more. A lot more since he lived in the woods. He was able to decipher more patterns and answers about the history of the elves, and he learned that there was so much to his people beyond his own family that he had lived with for so long. But, as he continually used his magic, he discovered something. There was much that still remained unknown. Dark magic, danger, something neither that history nor the elves could explain. But he found answers. And it was something he did not like.

Over time, Orin became more dedicated to research, and more strict and proper. No one knew why. But, one day he received an apprentice, something that he had never had. It was a boy, asking to be an apprentice after studying much of ancient history. At first, he might have accepted, until he heard the powers the boy possessed. Immediately realizing that he might succumb to the same fate as him, their magic being so similar, he declined. But, the boy returned again, this time as a man. Orin then eventually decided to accept Ives as his apprentice.

Then, one day, Orin left the library, passing on his role as Lore Keeper to him. He did not tell him where he was going, for Orin had many plans to fulfill. After his countless research and storing the history, Orin devoted his life to stopping whatever unknown or dark forces might endanger the forest, even if he had to do so alone. He had to look for an answer, a way to make sure that the Dryhtwood Forest would be safe. He found his way onto ships, running into pirates at the time. They sailed the many seas, and he was still searching for something that might help him protect the forest. But, he found nothing. There was no treasure, no magic that could help him. He would have to do so alone, even if it meant giving up the rest of his life devoted to the cause.

He became a wanderer of the forest, only accompanied by the woodland animals on his ventures. He swore his life to protect the Dryhtwood Forest as a whole, so that it would not become like his village. He often wanders by himself, roaming through the lands and continuing to decipher what his magic tells him.
