Getting started on FOTA!
Step 1: Read the Rules.
Step 2: Get familiar with the lore. If it's too much to read at the moment skim it and you should be fine. Although, maybe this is where you would like to decide which race you want to make. In this case, please read their lore in depth. Also look out for any open rank positions that you might be interested in taking.
Step 3: Create your account for your character. It would be easiest to do so with your character's name already in mind, but if you are still undecided you can always go back and edit it later. Please make sure that you don't forget to capitalize their name! Next, get an avatar (250 x 450) of your face claim and place it in your profile. Again, if undecided you can do this later.
Step 4: Time to create your character. Read through the character application. If you think you will need time to work on your character, please post in the WIP board. But if you are pretty certain you can finish your character in one go post in the completed applications board. Copy and paste the code in the BBCode section, then switch back to the preview mode to make editing easier. It might not look the same in the preview, but once you post it the application will be in the same format.
Step 5: If you are having trouble making your character or don't have any ideas, take a look at the wanted ad section, or start a topic in general chat or just talk amongst your fellow members. We'd love to help pitch in character ideas! Same goes for face claims and any other ideas you would like to have.
Step 6:When you finish making your character in the WIP please bump the thread or let a staff member know so it can get looked at.
Step 7: Once your character is accepted, post your face claims in the face claim list and if they have any magical abilities or forms in the character magical abilities and forms list. Then post in the Member Directory.
Step 8: So now you can get posting! Either you can jump right on in or you can post in the plot discussion board. You can get started by posting a plotter for your character, or discussing any other sorts of plot you might be interested in. You can also chat on the chatbox or discord and you may find someone that will make a thread or plot with you that way. But there is the option of just jumping on an open thread (usually marked (open)), or you can make an open thread yourself and see who joins in.
Step 9: Have fun, and stay tuned for some new site-wide events! If you have any questions just ask a staff member and we would love to help you out.
