Ea did not teach normal classes anymore, not since taking on the duties of Master of Fire. Most people probably thought he was relieved to be rid of it. However, he still had students. He never turned one down and frequently went looking when a mage with a particular bent for fire was brought in. In his experience, a young fire mage was often damaged and dangerous. Better they try their temper on him than someone else. Gods forbid they hurt someone he actually liked. He didn't resent them either, thus why he had agreed to chaperon them to the city along with the Master of Water. They had business there anyway, and it wouldn't hurt to let the two young mages get a taste of the city.
Dressed in deep wine red, embroidered in gold and beaded with pearls and amber, Ea made a sight as they rode into the city. The heavy amber pendant swung on it's long chain at his chest. His hair was braided back in a complex style that only Arlyn and the students knew had been done back in Lledrith. But his hair had survived the journey well in the braids and they still looked good, which was the whole point. It was his idea of low-maitenence travel when he had students to chase around. He kept a hawkish eye on the two, riding double on a horse he thought looked too big. The elder student was adept at handling the beast and, he had to admit, was probably a better horseman than he was.
The fire mage would be lying if he didn't have at least some ulterior motive for agreeing to the proposed trip so readily. As they approached one of the marketplaces he turned to the students, handing them each a small amount of coin. "Do no wander far and stay together. Meet by that shop front within half an hour." He indicated the one he meant, a physician's office by the look of it. As they took off, he moved his mount towards the storefront, speaking over his shoulder to Arlyn.
"Indulge me, Master Arlyn, there's something I want to check up on." When he reached the area near the building he dismounted and rummaged in his saddlebags to find a small, paper wrapped package. A quick peek in the window and he was relieved to see that it didn't look nearly as hectic as it had been the day he'd slipped away in the morning after a remarkably frustrating but equally memorable night. Just not memorable for reasons he would have liked. He knocked once, then gently pushed open the door and stepped inside, intending to wait for the man to finish with whoever he was with before stealing a little of his time. In the mean time, he would be content to watch the physician work.
Not that Ea doubted his ability to be distracting just by standing there.

”Come in.” Carlisle called at the sound of a knock on the heavy wooden door. The little bell overhead would jingle softly and his dark eyes would fleetingly flick over to see who had arrived. His gaze immediately returned to his patient but then back to the door when he realized just who it was. Dressed in flashy garbs and with his hair up this time instead of down and loose, but there was no mistaking the fire mage who had left quite the impression on the Dr. He cleared his throat and was clearly about to say something when the man whose knee he had been stitching cleared his throat loudly.
He was obviously flustered a bit by Ea’s appearance but returned to his work albeit with a slight pink tinge to his tan cheeks. Once the stitching was done and a bandage had been wrapped around the fellows knee Carlisle wrapped his arm under the farmer’s and helped him slide off the table. ”Take it easy for a few days, if you notice any swelling or reddening send for me and I’ll come out to your farm alright?” The man of few words nodded and took his cane before limping to the door. Stopping there he would pick up a dead chicken and thrust it out toward the obviously surprised Carlisle.
”I don’t have no coin doc, but the wife thought you needed a good meal. Skin and bones she said.” With that Carlisle was left with no option but to take the dead chicken by one of its naked legs and watch the man leave. His gaze moving to Ea then and the cold chicken temporarily forgotten a smile came to his lips. He would certainly grab anyone’s eye in the clothing he wore, but it suited him. Erin seemed to approve as well because she cackled excitedly from the crib she played in while he worked. He no longer trusted someone to watch her daily, it just wasn’t worth the risk.
”Its been a while.” He said and held out his hand to shake Ea’s. The hand holding the chicken. Immediately the color drained from his face and Carlisle cleared his throat before walking over to one of the empty basins and dropping the dead poultry inside. After washing his hands he would return back to the front of his clinic looking more than a little embarrassed. ”I hope everything is alright, are you I’ll?” He didn’t look ill, he looked –no, it wasn’t the time to let himself get caught up in some silly fantasies again. Something could be wrong, maybe with another child.
Carlisle was nearly completely healed from the encounter in the woods. His neck bore a very thin scar that could barely be seen, the arrow through his side hadn’t hit anything vital and had healed quickly enough. It was just the occasional awkward bend or strain that would bake an ache shoot through the scar. He was lucky, incredibly lucky. Had it not been for Eriu and Aislyn he would have never been able get his daughter back. Erin clapped her tiny hands and giggled happily from a few feet away. Apparently remembering the bright haired man from before.

Arlyn had come along with Ea on this trip. He had to assist him in watching over the young students, but they also had business to attend to here. They rode on horseback and although the man was old he still had the hang of it. Often times he used to ride on horseback when he was younger, traveling the lands with Suraci. He was fortunate to travel with the fire master, and along with the two students. It was good to show them the world, what it was really like outside of the school. When they had arrived at a certain spot, Ea had mentioned something he wished to check on. This caused him to raise a brow, wondering what it was all about but let him do so. However the elder then followed, getting off his own horse however slowly walking behind him in that direction. He looked up and down at the place, it seemed like an average building to say the least. Still, he wondered what the mage was up to this time, and he continued to follow, then Ea entered, seemingly inviting himself in. Curious, Arlyn moved up toward the door, doing the same.
He opened the door with one hand, causing the bell to ring and Arlyn nearly jumped for a moment in alarm. Though, his blue eyes continued to peer forward in the direction of the fiery-haired mage, who seemed to be discussing with another man. The mage dressed in the blue robes continued inward, shuffling closer however slowly toward them. Looking around, he could see that this was a clinic. Why was he visiting a healer? Arlyn wondered. His eyes searched from table to table, shelf to shelf, however he could easily see that there were no magical ingredients. But why? Perhaps maybe that was the reason Ea wished to visit here? To give some to him? His head then turned toward him, and continued to walk ever so quietly behind him, however he thought his presence had already been made. Then the sounds of the tiny giggles and clapping caught his attention, bringing his focus onto the infant that sat not too far away from them. Arlyn's eyes darted from the man back to Ea a few times, not knowing what to say. He didn't know if Ea had intended to bring Arlyn with him or not, but either way here he was. To grab his attention Arlyn cleared his throat, the loud harsh sound echoing through the clinic.

It was a good opportunity to look around the shop while the doctor finished. Not much had changed but he did notice Erin was downstairs unlike the last time he'd stopped by, and he made a face at her that was less than dignified but designed to draw a smile to her face. The farmer's words quickly brought his eyes back around to Carlisle though, eager for him to be gone so the mage could monopolize a little of Carlisle's time.
Ea covered a smile with one hand as he watched Carlisle's reaction to his patient's offering, and his humor only grew when Carlisle seemed to forget all about it to come greet him. That certainly fed his ego a little bit, if he could claim to be the sole cause of the good doctor's distraction. "Too long, but there are only so many times I can dodge responsibility at home before it tethers me for a while." He followed him a few steps towards the basin, stepping over to greet Erin in her crib while he washed. A brief flicker of annoyance crossed his face when Arlyn entered, but his focus very quickly came back to Carlisle when he finished washing.
"I'm fine, I just wanted to stop by and visit-" His brow furrowed in slight concern and he reached out to gently tilt Carlisle's head to the side, looking at the thin scar on his neck. It hadn't been there before, he was sure. For a moment he tried to rationalize how it might have come to be by accident, but the look of it was too familiar for him to easily put his worry aside. "Have you been picking fights? Are you alright?" His hand dropped to Carlisle's shoulder and rested there, not holding Carlisle in place but seeking the casual touch.
Then Arlyn cleared his throat and Ea sighed, annoyance flickering briefly across his face. "A moment, please, Arlyn." He didn't bother introducing them. Manners were something the fire mage considered to be a la carte- which ones applied and who they applied to were entirely up to his desires.

The elderly mages appearance gave Carlisle pause for a moment as he looked between the two of them. A hand starting to rise to offer it to the stranger in a shake. But then he felt Ea's fingers pressing against his cheek with a gentle pressure, thumb rolling over the minuscule scar that he now carried. He swallowed and felt heat rising to his cheeks just from that brief contact, his adams apple bobbing as he lifted his own palm to rub the tiny scar. He forced a smile and had the urge to laugh it off, say he had been careless in some way. But there was a part of him that wanted to spill out his woes to someone who was barely more than a stranger to him.
His dark eyes softened and he was about to speak before the elderly mage cleared his throat and jerked him back to the present. It was hardly appropriate to bring up such things now, especially in the company of a man whose name he didn't even know. His hand fell to squeeze Ea's hand when he so rudely brushed off his elder. A kind welcoming smile on his lips as he turned his attention to the gray haired man. "Hello sir, I'm Carlisle Hilthrom. If there is anything I can assist you with please let me know." Of course the herbs and tinctures that lined his walls were likely nothing in comparison to what a mage could conjure or find. But he would willingly share any of it with someone in need.
Erin was jabbering happily, enjoying the attention she had been given by the man with the pretty hair. Carlisle's attention moved to her and briefly a pained look came to his face before he smoothed it away. "Erin was...taken from me." Again he was struck by just how lucky he was to get her back. How many parents never saw their children again? Blood or not she was his. "There was ransom that I paid until I didn't have any coin left to my name. They just kept wanting more." The memory was painful, recalling the fear he felt. The utter helplessness. "Two brave women went to get her back with me. I...am not a fighter. But thankfully they were more skilled than I. And Erin is none the worse for wear." He swallowed again, this time to push back the emotions that rose like a tide even just recalling those horrible days.
His dark eyes lingered on the babe for a few moments longer before he cleared his throat and tossed a smile on his face. Time for a change of topic. "Did the two of you come to the city in need of anything? Perhaps I can help?"

Arlyn looked to Ea, then to the man as he then spoke. The elder reached out a wrinkled hand for him to shake. "I am Arlyn Norwood, Master of Water," he introduced himself. He was glad by the man's kindness, though his eyes then averted again to the red-haired mage. If he sought for them to discuss alone, he shall leave it to them. However, as he noticed how affectionately he held his chin, was he... seeing this man? Arlyn had no time for such foolishness. They were here on important business and could not let Ea get distracted by such concupiscence. However, there may have been more than beneath the eye. His gaze then turned to the darker skinned man, full of sympathy. Ea had... quite a reputation for getting around. Even though he tried to hide it from him he knew the Master of Fire all too well. It was of his element, after all. The fire goddess herself has been associated with lust. The old mage then nodded to them anyway, before turning and leaving them to some privacy, however he would be watching from a distance. He allowed Ea this visit to the man, however pull any daring acts and the old man would have to return him to their duties. Arlyn moved past the crib, gazing upon the little infant which laid within it. His long beard fell down into the crib, and he could feel some tugs upon it. Arlyn smiled, letting her do as she pleased with it for a few moments before walking away once more, finding a nice chair to rest in.
He continued to look on at the two as they spoke, with ancient eyes. The child was taken from him? But by whom? Arlyn remembered when he was just a child. Suraci had told him that his mother died while holding him in his arms. He did not know who his father was. Still, to lose a child must have been dreadful for the man. But if he had a child, didn't that mean that he was already married? Just what was Ea up to nowadays? But as he looked on it seemed that the man was concerned for him and his daughter. No it couldn't be... were they trying to raise this child on their own? Was the Master of Fire hiding this man away in this city, for they knew they could not be together? Perhaps the old man was just imagining things, making up a list of scenarios in his mind. But, he couldn't deny what was going on here, not when Ea acted so... intimate with him. He could not hide such a thing from the Master of Water for long. Arlyn continued to patiently wait, eyes on them before moving toward around the room. Indeed, it was nice to have a doctor here in such an area. Cendra City has been one of the many places that needed healers the most. Those that lived here in poverty, notably the elves, tend to get sick majority of the time. Perhaps afterwards Arlyn should have a talk with him. He could probably give the man a few pointers from his experience, although he did not doubt the man's knowledge of healing. If anything Arlyn would offer to help sometime, if he was visiting the area. If this man seemed to lack magic, judging so from the lack of potions, then perhaps the ability of having clean water at hand would benefit him. Many needed healing and Arlyn was often there to assist. When he was off duty of course.
Perhaps that was the reason why Ea was there too? But Arlyn didn't judge him for a man that sought to help heal others. But maybe it was but developed into something more. He then decided that he should have a talk with him afterwards as well.
When Carlisle asked them what they needed, Arlyn merely looked to the other mage for an answer. Well, he had only come here because of him. Other than that they were here on business for Lledrith. There were many tasks at hand that needed to be completed, and watching over the students but this was... a field trip in a way. For them at least. Being Masters at the school was awfully confining, both of them seemed to come to a conclusion on.

Ea's face had gone very concerned as Carlisle related his story. He could think of no good response, though his own temper flared at the very idea of it. Carlisle might have felt the slight increase in heat from the hand on is shoulder, but it faded quickly as Ea gave his shoulder a gentle squeeze, meant perhaps to be comforting. "I can't imagine how awful that was. I'm glad you are both okay." He hardly paid any attention to the older mage, waiting impatiently for them to finish introductions so he could spend a little more time speaking with him. He had no real goal in mind, except for the deliver of the small package he had tucked into one of his pockets.
He brought it out, a little misshapen thing wrapped in a scrap of brightly colored fabric. "Well, perhaps this is appropriate then to celebrate. I saw this and though of- Erin." There was a brief hesitation in his voice, though the words were true enough. It just hadn't only been Erin he was thinking off. Inside was a pretty cloth doll. He pressed it into the doctor's hands but before he could say anything the noise from the market outside seemed to rise abruptly in pitch and he heard the distinct tones of one of his students' voices raised in anger. Exasperated he let go of Carlisle and turned towards the door.
"Dammnit, I'll be right back." He was out the door in a sweep of billowing robes, face stormy. His voice rose outside, the words not exactly distinguishable but clearly chastising.
[you guys can go ahead and do your thing and I'll bring Ea back in a bit]

Carlisle had smiled and dipped his head respectfully to the older man, his dark eyes returning to Ea when he answered his question. If he noticed the heat rising where his shoulder was held he made no mention of it. "We are very fortunate." He said softly. It was then that Ea said he had thought of Erin and for a moment it seemed he had forgotten her name. Carlisle wouldn't be offended if it were so, it wasn't as if they had spent much time together. But then the doll was handed over to him and a genuine smile came to the Dr's face. "This is-" A ruckus outside silenced his words and Ea hurried outside leaving Carlisle holding the doll and looking lost.
He cleared his throat and walked over to Erin, he reached down to hand her the cloth doll and she immediately squealed at the sight of such bright colors. And rather happily shoved one of the dolls hands into her mouth to happily chew on it. Apparently finding that it would make a wonderful teether. Carlisle watched her fondly before turning back to the elderly mage with an awkward smile. "I umm...I hope everything is alright out there." He said in reference to the ruckus. Trying to find something to say to someone he didn't know, someone who wasn't a patient. Someone who probably had some idea that Carlisle and Ea were not merely friends. But were they even that? Their moments together had been fleeting, but the pull he felt was undeniable.
"Umm...would you like some tea? Or..." Or what? What else could he offer? He hated sounding like such a mess but he didn't know entirely what to say.

Arlyn looked on as the conversation took place, curious as to why Ea would give him a doll out of all things. It made him even more suspicious that he cared much for the child, creating more suspicion that the two may indeed be together. Even though the elderly mage didn't know what was going on, he thought that the man... most likely deserved to know of Ea's ways. Perhaps it was not very professional-like of Arlyn, but indeed he had to look out for those that are affected by his fellow Masters. When Ea turned to leave, the elder turned his attention as well, however the fire mage was gone before he could even stand. Though he let the man go, knowing that Ea could take care of it. His attention then turned back to the doctor, who had now offered him some tea. Arlyn sat there patiently, one hand placed over the other.
"It is no matter. Surely he will be able to take care of it, I assure you," he said to him reassuringly. However his point was contrasted by more ruckus outside, followed by some loud noises. However Arlyn continued to look up at him, as if nothing was happening. "I am quite alright," he then rose a hand to deny his offer. He wasn't very thirsty at the moment, and his head turned to the side, wondering where he should start. Well, if anything, he should know more about the relationship between the two. It would be a start to where he was going.
His face turned up to him once more. "How do you know the Master of Fire?" he began with his inquiry. In fact that wasn't even relevant. He then continued. "I've noticed you... have quite a relationship, with Ea," he tried to choose his words carefully, however they fell of his tongue without much effort. In fact it was pretty clear that the two were close. Arlyn shook his head. "Indeed, I am used to seeing him this way. You deserve to know," he then said, eyes closed before they opened again peering up at him. "Ea... has a tendency to get around," he said quite blatantly. "I would advise to not get attached to the man. He has... broken hearts in many ways." He wasn't trying to be hurtful, just helpful so that he would know who to be cautious around. It would be best for him to end the ties here, however Arlyn knew that wasn't going to happen. They always sought Ea, even after what he had done to them. In the end however, the fiery mage always seemed to get his way. Arlyn, on the other hand, had no one. Perhaps they were opposites in this regard. Then again, they were of contrasting elements.
With a sigh, his voice tried to be more gentle, as to not break the bad news. "I do wish you no harm. Just keep in mind that he... I would not wish to see you harmed by him." Indeed, it would seem at that very moment Arlyn cared for him, although he did not quite know the man. His blue eyes gazed on him with concern, for the poor doctor that had helped many people, yet could get hurt by them just as easily.

The ruckus outside was worrisome and Carlisle looked nervously at his door. Would Ea need help? But at Arlyn's words he didn't venture closer to the door but the worried lines in his forehead didn't disappear. After the offer for tea Carlisle wasn't sure what else to say so he stepped over to get pour himself a cup, hoping that at least while drinking it the awkward silence wouldn't be as weighty. But it was after a swallow and with another in his mouth that the mage began to ask him questions. He swallowed and was setting the cup down to answer the first question when Arlyn made the statement that they had 'quite a relationship'. Carlisle cleared his throat and rubbed his neck, willing the blush to fade from his cheeks.
"I don't know about a relationship. He brought an injured boy in one night. We are..." But again he was stuck. What were they? Friends? It was then that Arlyn began to speak again and Carlisle fell quiet respectively. He didn't know how to react to the man's words but surely he knew Ea better than Carlisle. He was a fellow mage, a fellow master who apparently traveled with him. Carlisle was nothing more than a Dr who had brief encounters with the man. Carlisle turned away and fiddled with a random device on the shelf he stood near so that hopefully Arlyn wouldn't be able to see his face. He seemed perceptive as it were, no reason to let him see even more.
Ea was...popular then. And had broken many hearts. It was not the type of news someone would want to hear about someone they had a crush on. "I....I appreciate you looking out for me. And telling me what you have. I don't...I don't really know if that is even something I should be concerned about, Arlyn. I'm hardly one to keep the attention of someone like, Ea." Someone whose life was full of adventure and excitement. Carlisle could very easily be seen as boring. A moment of silence passed before he spoke again. "But...thank you."

Arlyn gave him a look, one of sternness and concern as he gazed out of him with serious blue eyes. He then turned his head slightly before he spoke again in his old withered voice. "Just keep in mind what I have told you," he said, deciding that he should most likely avoid continuing the topic. He didn't wish to delve further into what the two had gone through together, but it made sense now. One injured boy Ea had brought in could flourish into a relationship apparently. The fire mage had a knack for it, something which Arlyn could never achieve in his lifetime. Although, perhaps it was because he wasn't as flirtatious or boisterous as he was, Arlyn was always more serious and to the point. He also favored a relationship that would be more... satisfying, by the end of his lifetime. Someone who was devout as he was to their love perhaps. If only he knew how to find someone that would return the affections of an elderly man such as he. But hey, at least there were still many other old-timers out there. There was still hope, the books told him.
Then, his attention averted toward the door, Ea should be back by then. Perhaps the boys were more rowdy than he previously thought. Although, the fire master most likely eventually would have it under control. He turned his gaze to Carlisle. He wished that he didn't deny the offer of tea earlier. Though, he began again. "So you're a physician here?" he then asked, changing the subject from what they were talking about prior. "I've noticed you have a lack of potions, do you specialize in traditional healing?" Well, perhaps traditional wasn't the right word, as those would think that it would refer to healing magic. However, Arlyn was actually more accustomed to helping out using herbs, as he and Suraci would help heal others in anyway they could, despite the fact that their powers were both water and light respectively. He then began again. "If you ever need any assistance, do not hesitate the need to send for us," he then said, more serious although there was a light hint of tone to it. "We are Masters of the school, however I myself go traveling the lands in search of helping out those in need. I am unsure if Ea does the same however if you are in need of potions or the elements we could provide it." He then gave a smile, before he shuffled in his seat and then stood, his robes falling down to the floor again. He then began to walk toward the door. "Perhaps we should check up on them, they may need your aid if Ea is taking this long," he then said in jest, looking back at the doctor with a comical look in his eye.

Nothing was on fire and no one was bleeding. There was a certain amount of relief to that though the expression on his face didn't give away his amusement. Instead, his face was locked in a disapproving scowl. Each of his hands wrapped around the arm of one of his delinquent students who had used their free time to stir up trouble rather than anything useful. And had interrupted his chat, which he'd been looking forward to since he'd left the city. He shouldered open the door with a jangle of the bell but didn't enter. "Arlyn, let's get on with it. Clearly these two haven't learned proper manners from any of their other teachers."
Since obviously Ea was not the appropriate mentor to teach them.
