` character name: she was numb. she wasn't sure how she felt about anything - besides romeo. she had never been so sure of anyone in her life. she had never trusted anyone like she did him - and she had never felt anything for anyone the way she had been feeling for him. it was a scary thought. through all that madness that happened at the ball - he had come to fund her. of course that had been a dangerous move , he couldn't tell how she had been feeling or who house she had posted up at after the ball but he had come anyway. even though everything that night had been so wrong , finally seeing him after the chaos had felt right. she wasn't sure what any of it meant , she just knew that she did not want to be without him by her side. he meant so much to her and she had been so used to people giving up on her that this was something unfamiliar she had felt. her mother had never showed her loved. told her she was a hybrid mess and that no one would ever love her. then on the other hand she would show her off when she got the chance , because she was something "exotic" and "beautiful". if it had been up to her mother she would be with some snob royal man with a lot to offer to her family's name. not that it matter to much when you were closely related to the king. everyone else wanted different things from you.
the news of her mother's death had not come soon , she had thought her mother had been alive for days after the ball but sadly she had not made it through. while noelle had gotten out her mother , she had not. they had found her body in the woods , looking as if she had been trying to get back to the water. she had bled out. noelle had tended to her mother's body and helped get her back to the water after. she cleaned the wounds and she had cleaned her face. picking out the best clothes she knew her mother would want to look fabulous even at her own funeral. she had also told her father ( the immortal ) about it and he had told her that he would attend in the support of his daughter. even though she had not been the greatest mother - this was still the mother that had been chosen for her and she could still could feel bad. even when her mother had been so cruel to her. she could feel bad ...couldn't she ?
now it was the time to go to the king and tell him . tell him that his family didn't make it. noelle didn't talk to her cousin much , neither did he really reach out to her but this was the only time where she would approach him openly about anything. maybe it was the way that their parents had kept her away from that side of the family ? she only got to see them when someone was getting married , a funeral or her mother wanted to show her around other noble men. the guards had announced her title. duchess , she still winced when she would hear it. she hated titles. her orange-ish , red tail pushed her swiftly into the room , gracefully going until what could be called a deep curtsy.
m'lord . i have come to speak about my mother and what happened about the ball. , she spoke confidently as she tilted her head up to look at her cousin. her hazel eyes resting on him.

Fish in a bowl
Earindil hardly remembered his cousin's face, let alone her name. His father had always sneered when he asked about her, and the old man was sneering now. Earindil had no hatred in his heart for her. It didn't seem right to hate her because of who her father was. Everyone in his court was at their rightful place when she was announced. He called for them to send her in.
He watched, expressionless, as she approached and sank into a bow. Her tail wasn't blue or green, like most merfolk. Neither was his. Their skin tones were similar, and so were their eyes. Though, he'd been told her tail changed color with mood. He wondered if he'd see it change color. She spoke, and he nodded. "Cousin, welcome. Please, rise. We're family, after all." He glanced at his parents, off to the side. His mother would at least be proud of his manner of speaking. His father, though, he glared at Earindil. It was all very amusing to him. "Do tell us what happened. Take your time; the memory must be painful." At least he truly meant that last part. His mother irritated him to no end, but he didn't know what he would do without her. That went for his father, too, he supposed.

` character name: noelle arrived into the room gracefully. that was one thing her mother always spoke highly of her about. even being a hybrid thing , there had always been grace and confiedence about her. even in a room full of dragons , she wouldn't have broke a sweat. she was calm for the most part. even though she could feel her uncles eyes sink into her like a dagger. she had never had problems with queen mother. she hadn't treated her poorly , neither had she remembered her really interacting with her at all after being a small child. noelle's mother had been some sort of rebel at court before she had been born. everyone told her that something like this would happen and it did. her mother however had chose to let someone else raise her child , but her outside of the kingdom in some land they owned and keep her away from the rest of the royals. only to bring noelle out for show. like she had been some sort of zoo animal. her mind was numb just thinking about it.
she had not seen her cousin in so long , but it was refreshing to see a face that had been a little more welcoming then her uncle. and he spoke to her as if she was actually a living being and not some type of trash. this was the first time she had seen her cousin in centuries she thought. unlike many of other merfolk she noticed his tail was also a different color , that their skin was almost the same and she didn't feel like she had most different color eyes in the room. noelle was calm. he said that they were family and she could see her uncle now. it made her want to smirk , but she kept the neutral look on her face. " You are most kind. Thank you cousin.." , she nodded her head in thanks.
he asked her to speak about what happened and she nodded. ' the ball ... , that the humans held. it ended in tragedy for many , i am sure that you know." , she began slow trying not to choke on her words. it wasn't just losing her mother , but also having almost losing her own life. "one of the werebeasts got to her. i am not sure which one. i am not sure if they are still alive and there is no way of us knowing. the humans. the king is blaming the mages , but i'm a not very convinced that this was there doing and that he had no hand in this. it doesn't seem right at all. especially the want of battle from the human king." , she spoke freely now. her tail changing for the orange red color , to a very dark blue. "my mother. your aunt. the king's sister was found dead , days later. it looked as if she had bled out. i made sure to clean her up and bring her home. " , she finished. home being the sea. she did not want her mother going to that ungodly cemetery on land. " i am sorry to be the bearer of bad news. i just thought it would be best if it was delivered by myself.'' , she pressed her lips together as she finished. the colors in her tail no swirling and changing again.

He glanced again at his father, as if to say "see? she's polite enough" but he quickly returned his attention to Noelle. He waited patiently for her to speak; as he said, the memory must have been difficult to conjure up. It was with a kingly interest that he listened, above all. Yes, it was a tragic personal loss, but what of his people? If another kingdom called for war, he'd have to know about it. Even if he didn't want to participate. He leaned in, eyebrows furrowed, at the mention of it. "Yes, do you know anything about that? Or is he just hungry for war in general?" Part of him wished he'd been able to go to the ball himself. He lost that train of thought when he noticed her tail changing color. Just like they'd said. He didn't let his eyes linger on it for much longer than a heartbeat. And then he nodded again, slowly.
"Thank you for coming here. We appreciate hearing it from you and not some stranger." He offered a warm smile. "As far as I'm concerned, you're always welcome here." He noted her tail changing color again, but this time he pretended not to notice. He didn't want her to feel like an oddity.

` character name:
he asked her did she know anything about that and she shook her head. " the only thing for certain is that the human king has always wanted blood. was he the reason why all this happened ? i am not sure cousin. but if we hosted a event with every race to be included and blood was shed. we would have to be the ones held accountable , am i not correct ? , she had tilted her head to the side. none of it made sense to her. there had been so much that happened. the human princess didn't even look like she had agreed with her father's or the commander of their army orders. she seemed so different from the rest of her family in that moment. in that moment she had reminded noelle of a younger version of her mother. the version she had loved before the duties of court became more important to her then her own daughter. now she could never make that up. her mother had passed and it was a hard pill for noelle to swallow. there would be no time to makeup. no time for her to get closure and really understand any of it.
was she always welcomed ? noelle shook her head again. " with all due respect cousin. you my want me here but our former king has made it very clear i have no place here. only on occasions to make our people look progressive." , she smiled at the former king. her hazel eyes resting on him before returning to her cousin. ''you are very kind and if this were on better terms it would have been even better. it is nice to see you however." , she nodded as she agreed. I can not advise you in anything your highness but it does seem to me that there are talks of the treaty coming to a end sooner or later. Maybe it's time to go on land and make some alliances once more ? , she suggested.

As he listened to her response, he nodded. Becoming lost in thought, he brought a hand up to fidget with his beard. If war broke out again, what would be the right thing to do? Should he bid his people to rise and fight, or should it be a repeat of the last war? There was a lot of profit to be made in war. He'd have to consider all this in his spare time. He had a lot of spare time these days.
When Noelle looked to his father, he followed her gaze with a smug expression on his face. The old man glowered at them. "Even so, it would be very good to visit with you." he said. He meant it, too. He knew the story of why his father hated her so much, but the simple truth was that he didn't care. She'd never done anything to him to warrant such feelings. "I hope next time we meet it's for a happier occasion." All this death and sorrow was getting to be too much. They needed a wedding or something.
He nodded at her suggestion. A good excuse to travel on land would be more than welcome. He nodded. "Yes, I think that's a grand idea." he said, smiling. Of course, he wouldn't be traveling for leisure; this was something he would have to take seriously. And he would.

It felt good to have talked to her cousin , it felt even better that he didn't seem to have the same views as his father did. It was nice to feel welcomed in a place you called home- especially one that didn't want to consider you apart of it's society at times. The younger generations of races always seemed more open for change, when the older generations wanted to keep everything the same. When society changed, then one had to change as well. That was something that she had learned over time. Noelle didn't know how long she would live -considering she was a hybrid of immortal and merfolk. It was hard to tell what would happen to her, but for the first time in a long time her cousin made her feel welcomed. She didn't feel ashamed. "It is very nice to be here ! And of course I hope to visit again on a brighter note." , she nodded in agreement.
She had made the suggestion to make alliances once more, though the merfolk really didn't need much. Make alliances would be a good look for the kingdom however. No other race had control or understanding of the ocean like the merfolk. " If you need anyone to travel with or visit. I am in and out the sea on most occasions." , she bowed again. " I will be taking my leave now however. It was nice to see you again cousin. Uncle. " , she began as she looked at her uncle with a smile. "Always a pleasure to see you." ,she said in a taunting way. Turning her back she started her way out of their presence.
