Ladon found himself in the Duskmire Woods. It was rare to see him in these parts, especially when he should be guarding the prince back in the Naihan Mountains. But... actually he had flown here. Overnight the dragon needed to stretch his wings. He enjoyed being a guard, and serving the prince even more, but he ached to feel his wings stretch again. After a recent encounter with killing three bandits when he had traveled with the prince, the clan leader had made more precautions upon dragon encounters. So in this case, Ladon walked a long while before he transformed. After away enough that he wouldn't be seen. Fortunately Duskmire wasn't too far from where the clan was. He could fly back by morning. But, he had also come here to think. Although he would much rather be in Dryhtwood, this was the closest place he could be in solitude that he could get. He had brought with him a pair of clothes, so that when he landed near the marsh he was able to transform back into a human without much trouble. He did not want to be caught as a dragon after all.
His boots stepped into the wet mud, slashing the purple-ish brown dirt that seemed to be everywhere in these parts. There were only the sounds of the nighttime crickets, and they were as loud as ever. However, Ladon found solace in this place. It was moist, and some water suspended in midair, hanging low near the ground. But, this place somewhat reminded him of the Dark Canyons. Though he had heard of this place before, he never would have thought he would come here for peace and quiet. This place was last on that list actually. Despite the fact that he was a dragon, and could probably take on any danger headed his way, he still had to be wary for the creatures that lurked here, as well as the marsh. If he wasn't careful, it was one wrong step and he could sink to his doom. Nevertheless, he began to walk. Continuing through the midnight forest, feeling the warm air and calming breeze blow past him. He knew that if something bad happened to the prince, there would be Salil to take care of it. After all, the merfolk seemed overly confident that he could take anything that comes his way, and Ladon still never learned to see if that was true or not. But either way, he knew that the prince was in good hands. He would probably awake in the morning and never notice that his guard was gone. Salil might... but the merfolk often slept during the night, as far as he knew.
Ladon paced, seeing some bright glowing mushrooms and fireflies that roamed the dark forest. It was much brighter, and prettier than before. But as he continued to walk, now was the time he could get lost in his thoughts. His time as a dragon let him think, but his time as a guard proved to be the opposite. There was always some sort of task he had to take care of, or someone that had to talk to him. He thought that being a guard just meant standing around, which was one of his favorite past times as a dragon, but he figured out that it was much more than that. But... his thoughts. He couldn't get the prince off his mind. He felt something strange. Some sort of attachment. If he had developed a relationship with him... what would his father think? Oh surely he would be angry. He would kick Ladon out right there and then if he discovered what happened between the two. Salil would replace him. Maybe along with another guard that was just as annoying. Poor prince. Ladon couldn't leave him to such a fate. Somehow... maybe he could make this work. He tried reassuring the prince many times that he would always take care of everything... but he never did. Somehow the situations always panned out on their own. At least he wasn't kicked out of the palace yet. Salil was there, he could tolerate the man, but he could not stand it if he had to leave the prince's side. He had vowed to protect him.
He made his way around a tree, to see a figure in the distance. A woman? Ladon quickly hid behind a tree, taking a few breaths before peering over again. She nearly blended into the dark. What was someone doing out here, so late in the night? With a serious look on his face, the brave guard emerged from behind the tree, standing and looking at her directly.
"It is late. You should head back," he said, eyes narrowed in suspicion. It was a line he had to say to the people that lingered about the palace during late hours. He hoped it would work on her...

Shaecayrn held up two vials, both gleaming red in the light of her workshop. Blood was not dissimilar between creatures. One was from a dragon, thick and almost burgundy, shimmering with magic. The other was her own, bright and shining with the magic she held within her. A small smirk tilted her lips, and she tipped two drops of each into a small bowl.
Though the bloods were together, they did not merge, staying separate in a manner similar to water and oil. Interesting. She began to murmur a chant to bring the two together when the dragon blood pulled away toward the edge of the bowl curiously. Her head tilted, and she turned the bowl, but the blood continued to crawl along its side, straining toward the same direction.
”Like calls to like.” She murmured, and then moved swiftly, pulling her cloak over her shoulders and, with bowl in hand, stepped out into the darkness. Her steps were silent, following the pathways that her safe. The marshy ground was familiar and comforting in the manner that it sank under her feet, and the fog itself that hovered near the ground was mysterious. This was a night in which an unwary man must beware of will-o-wisps, and the kelpies that lurked in the depths of the ponds.
After ten minutes of walking, she paused. The blood was all but straining to get out of the bowl, and a flash of movement ahead of her caught her eye. A small smile curved her lips before the man stepped out from behind the tree he had dodged behind, and she set the blood back into its vial with a thought, even as he warily informed her that it was late, and she should head home.
But his half suggestion, half command didn't concern her. Instead she slid closer, seeming to glide along because of the fog and the manner in which her cloak enveloped her. When she was within easier earshot, she stopped, hands raising to slip her hood back just enough for her tattoo to glimmer in the low light, and so that she could see clearly through the shadows. ”Interesting. You are a stranger to me and yet you presume to… suggest I head back. To where, exactly?” Cool amusement colored her voice.
For the moment, she didn't make a move, but the calling of blood to blood made her very curious. Was he yet another of an elusive race?

His expression seemed to show that he was frightened a little. The figure gliding over toward him. Was this a ghost? He wasn't very sure about what creatures lurked in these woods, especially now after he made himself comfortable in the Naihan Mountains. His mouth gaped open slightly, and he took a step back. He could then see an odd pattern glimmering in the darkness. If this was a ghost... no, he had to stand his ground. His eyes then narrowed in bravery, his feet planted firm into the wet soil below. He faced the incomer with a stern glance.
"Back to wherever you came from," he spoke, continued in his guard-like manner. "Back home."
Deeply he hoped that whatever she was, she would return back to whatever grave she came from. He did not wanted to be haunted by ghosts, if they were real. It was eery, but he shouldn't be afraid. He could turn into a dragon after all, but what if this was just another person? If so he couldn't let her see him transform. Who knew, maybe she wasn't hostile. Either way, he continued to stand there, waiting. Hoping that she would leave. But if she was someone to be reasoned with... maybe, just maybe it was worthwhile to speak with her, to get his mind off the current situation at hand. But, he had a bad feeling about this. About her. Something in his blood boiled. Although he thought that maybe it was the suspicion of the woman that traversed the night in these woods.

Amusement flitted through her more fully. He was right to be afraid of a hooded creature in the darkness of a territory known to be dangerous. Yet he stood forth boldly despite that nervousness, his voice strong, firm. Had she been inclined for romance, perhaps that would have been attractive. But her mind was focused upon her goal, and he was merely another tool. -Like calls to like. Dragon blood called to him. Is he truly one, hidden within this fragile form?- Her thoughts were curious. There was only one way to find for certain, but she doubted he would prove her theory correct. But she was fairly certain…
She laughed as he told her to go back where she came from, back home. A single step brought her gliding closer to him, raising one hand and pulling her hood down. In the extremely dim lighting of the Duskmire at this hour, she looked like a creature of the night. Midnight skin and shadow-hair, glinting with beads of color, her lips curled up to show shockingly white teeth against the shadow of her form. ”I am home, stranger. You have wandered into the Duskmire. This is a foolish thing, for you are now less than a mile from a kelpie’s pool. Do you wish to be led into the waters and drowned?” It was a rhetorical question and she did not wait for him to answer. One hand extended to Ladon. ”Come. The hours past twilight are not welcoming for strangers in this land. Tell me your name and I will lead you to safety.”
Safety was a relative thing. He would be safe in her home. At least, he would be safe from the myriad of dangerous of the Duskmire. Whether he was in danger from her was yet to be determined. -If he is what I believe, then he could be of use...- She could hardly test her paths to her goal with only a single vial of dragon's blood.
The wind began to slide eerily through the trees, makin her beads click together. Silently, she wondered if being polite would do her any favors here.

Ladon looked at her with a suspicious gaze, trying to inspect her but indeed she looked almost dark as the night itself, the blackness of the air shrouding her appearance. He could only see the mark around her eye that shined in he dark, a mysterious silver. He took a more protective stance as she spoke. Was she a witch of some sort? She claimed this dangerous place to be her very home. Perhaps she was the kelpie she spoke of. They often changed form into that of a human but lured those into their depths. He didn't trust her. Safety? He was just as safe as she was, according to him. He wasn't sure what to do, but he knew he wouldn't come along with her. He could take the form of a dragon... but, if she was not a creature... then she might tell others. He could not be hunted again. Especially not after that near encounter with the clan leader almost figuring out that there was a dragon near their borders. He decided to play as a weak human for now, although he was a guard. He had trained himself with his sword for quite some time now, hopefully if she tried to attack him he could fend her off.
But he wasn't sure.
Carefully gazing at her, he took one step forward, returning to more of a firm stance as he stood tall and stiff. "I am safe, madam," he said, voice unwavering. "It is your safety that I fear for." Now he was playing with fire. Testing her to see how potentially dangerous she could be. He was beginning to feel another feeling stir up inside of him. He ached to become a dragon again. Perhaps it was a good excuse to tear her to shreds. But Ladon wasn't heartless, he would not do such a thing. Only to defend himself, but even still, he couldn't control how far he was willing to go, if she attacked him with all her might. But assuming she had no magic, she would not pose much of a threat. That eased his worries a little. Still, she was here, and the night was young. He could converse until morning, but he had to get back before then.

He stepped forward but remained out of reach as he responded. Shimmer held back a chuckle. Perhaps this one was too wary to be caught easily within a trap. He was safe, and feared rather for her safety. Her voice softened. ”How kind of you. Few would show concern for strangers nowadays. It is a harsh world to live within.” Her eyes flicked away from him for a moment as she listened to the heavy stillness of the swampy forest she lived within. But perhaps this would be useful. She wasn't the best actress, but perhaps pretending to be more helpless than she was would snare him closer to her workshop. Or perhaps she didn't need that. She just needed to be sure he was a dragon.
A smile tilted her lips and showed her teeth, and she stepped one more step towards him, offering a hand forward. It was a common enough greeting, her demeanor edging towards friendly. ”I’m known as Shimmer.” She waited for a moment, for an introduction from him as well. Inwardly she cringed. She detested being touched. Too many memories always wished to flood forward.
When he took her hand to shake it, she placed her second around his, holding his hand between both of hers. Though her grip was light, her fingers tightened slightly, holding his hand in place when he might have pulled away, and staring at him intently. Her voice came softly now, almost eerie as she chanted swiftly, voice now resonant with power. ”Two shapes, but only one in blood was born. Blood calls to blood, to natural form, return.” Brought by a wordless cantrip, the vial of dragon's blood lifted from her pocket as she spoke, dropping several drops upon their clasped hands.
Energy shoved from her into him, calling for his body to shift to the form that it had been born to, that it was originally, and thus would always return to. Hot and then cold as her voice repeated the rhyne, reinforcing the call.

Ladon shook her hand uneasily, not knowing what would come of it, but he would have to remain polite. As he took it his eyes widened in surprise as she held it with a second hand, an eery melody sung from her lips as blood lifted into the air and into her hands. He had no idea what was going on and tried to pull away but it was too late, her grasp too tight and too fast as it happened. He didn't even pay attention to what the chant had consisted of but he knew he had to get out of there. Suddenly his dark eyes flashed white, glowing as he then grasped his head with his other free hand, trying to cover at least one of his eyes but it futile. He gnashed his teeth as he could feel himself beginning to change, transform against his will. Grunting he was bent over slightly, feeling the large spikes emerge from his back, and he himself was growing. It was soon that his whole body had changed into the dark gray scales, large wings, a tail, and claws where hands and feet should have been, tearing the only pair of clothes he had apart. Soon the enormous dragon stood nearly almost above the tree line, a large claw almost he size of the woman that was previously standing next to him.
It took him a second to realize what had just happened, but the dragon looked from the air to down back at the woman below. What had happened? "What did you do to me?!" his voice bellowed through the murky forest. His voice was much deeper than before, and sounded far more ancient. Perhaps it was because he was angry, or more surprised. His narrowed glowing white eyes glared down at the woman, and he shifted his stance slightly, arching his back as his head faced toward her. "You don't realize what you have done," he said, although this time with a more sinister delight. Just a claw away and she would be finished. Indeed, he thought that she was foolish. His only pair of clothing were gone. Another dragon sight would be spotted. After all of this stealth and work went all for naught. Would the clan leader finally discover about this? Would he really be kicked out of the palace for certain this time? What if Salil happened to be wandering here and found him? Well, and there was this woman. Was she a hunter of dragons? Was she going to capture him and feed him to whoever lives in a nearby village? Or perhaps this was her intent. Either way, he was confident that he had the upper hand, despite her strange magic.
She was going to pay. If this would really cost him the rest of his life without seeing the prince ever again, this would be all her fault. Even though his wise mind thought that it was illogical to kill her, since he clearly had the upper hand, his heart said otherwise. What was this strange feeling? Protection? Pride? How could he feel such a way of killing someone for merely turning him into a dragon? Isn't this what he secretly wanted anyway? His time with the prince had done some strange things to him. Nevertheless, his emotions won over his mind with animal instinct. With a roar he lashed a claw aiming toward her to land a strike, hoping to at least knock her down.

She watched him as he first tried to get away, and then as his eyes flashed white and his body contorted with the change. Blood called to blood and his will was not what she had expected from a race known to be powerful, and often very old. As the change continued, she released his hand, stepping back as spines emerged and his form grew larger. Victorious laughter left her briefly before she reined it in, watching with a great deal of fascination. His form, while still dark, was not akin to granite as the first dragon she had met had been. Was there perhaps different breeds? Did their shape reflect their abilities? Questions ran through her mind as she reached into her pockets to grab crystals and restore her power. Energy fizzed through her blood. One of the stones had been charged through lightning.
No more than another shadow at his feet, she heard his bellow, and the felt his gaze focus upon her, his voice turning sinister. Quietly, she chanted, the next part of her plan being to trap in him in place. First it was vines and roots, creeping over his paws, and then the very trees shifting, bending over him and creaking with a sound that was not just wood. Halfway through, his claws lashed out, and she couldn't dodge, immersed in forming her spell as she was. His strength sent her flying into one of the nearby trees. A crack snapped through the forest, and a yelp came with it before she chanted faster, now out of reach of his claws, for the moment. Shaecayrn turned the very forest against him, bending the trees over him and lacing them with metal so they would not break, pressing down along his back to force him downwards. Vines and roots acted like chains, gripping his feet and trapping them in place. Steel coated them in rippling waves. Her chanting came out in breathless pants, and she knew one of her ribs had broken, but she could not lose concentration, not now.
Her will and the chant pulled the forest into a cage around him, until he was trapped, crouching behind metal-laced trees. Once it was finished, she half collapsed against the tree he had flung her against, gasping as her hand felt its way along her rib. Briefly, she tested her energy levels, and decided she would have to heal her rib after a full recharge. Perhaps one of the kelpies would barter with her after she finished here.
Collecting herself, she stepped forward, bringing a mage light into existence with a flick of her fingers. Blue white light shone upon her, and the dragon she caged. ”That was not kind of you.” She stood slightly crooked favoring the side he had managed to break ribs on. But her voice barely hinted at pain, filled instead with victorious amusement. ”I apologize for the trouble, but I had to be certain of what I suspected. Will you calm yourself and speak with me, or must you make this discussion difficult?” She didn't sound remotely sorry.

He tried to fight the plants that wrapped around him, but the dragon was not strong enough to keep back the force of nature. He tried to snap with his mouth and reach out against it with his claws, but the trees fell on top of him before he could even spread his wings. The plants grew, intertwining themselves as they surrounded his wrists, pulling them downward. He was brought down by all of the weight of the trees, and he couldn't even scratch through them, their wood turning into metal. His head was forced downward, down to the floor as the cage surrounded his neck. His entire body was useless now, facing flat on the ground, his glowing white eyes staring forward at the injured woman with burning rage. His eyes were narrowed, and he was silent until she was done speaking.
Ladon was about to merely laugh in anger upon what she had said. "And you had to turn me into a dragon?" he seethed. He didn't suspect that she had only done so out of suspicion. There had to be more magic than that. It was an unusual magic as well, not many could reveal a dragon in their human form. But what if he were just a human? How would she suspect that he was a dragon and not any other race? She must have known ahead of time, or so he assumed. Unless she was expecting a werebeast or merfolk or something. Still, even to do that rose suspicion from him. Why would she want to figure out what they really were in the first place? He did not pose a threat, and was pretty polite until now. Now she had just unleashed a whole lot of bad just by turning him into a dragon.
"I would say that is not very kind of you. What is it that you want?" he asked, straight to the point. He had to find what her intentions were at least, he thought.

His voice rumbled past her, no longer the bellow, but certainly not the whisper that Obelisk had used to save her ears. Something that might be worshipful admiration came into her eyes. So confident in the trap she had caught him in, she stepped forward, right up to his scaled muzzle. Still favoring her cracked ribs, she reached out and laid a gentle hand upon his scales, smiling softly. ”Blood calls to blood, great one. Dragon blood called me to you, and so you were surely a dragon. But you would hardly admit that to a stranger within the woods. I had to be sure. The only way to be sure was to … call to your natural form.” Her fingers ran almost reverently along the smaller scales of his face, stroking his muzzle gently. ”Had you been anything other than a dragon, the magic would have no effect.Perhaps, if you had truly not wanted to change, you might not of. But you cannot tell me that you enjoy being.. human, truly, when you have such an amazing form such as this.” The mage sighed, admiration evident as she rambled, moving until she stood near his glowing white eye. ”I did give you quite the chance to leave.” All innocence, she met his gaze, and smiled. It was best if he thought of her as silly, rather than knowing her true self.
Shaecayrn continued to run her fingers over his scales as she finally came to what she wanted from him. Her voice firmed slightly. ”I am in need of something only a dragon can give me. But your race is notoriously difficult to find. I would make a bargain with you, now that I have found you.” She shifted, her beads clinking quietly.
Delicately, she traced a runic pattern upon his scales, sending a shimmering light rippling over him. ”I am in need of dragon blood, and a scale. You never need see me again, if you wish. I will even gift you something of equal value. Your freedom I will guarantee regardless.” Eventually, at least. Having come to her want, she drew back slightly, eyeing him as if trying to read his expression.

He wanted to bite, to nip at the woman that laid a hand on him. Feeling the tiny appendage across his scales, even the trees and plants had enclosed themselves around his muzzle, unable to open it. The only thing he could do was stare her down with white glowing eyes. They narrowed in anger as she continued. What could a dragon possibly give one as such as her? She apparently had some knowledge of them and had strong magical prowess, able to easily defeat a large dragon such as he. He continued to listen, eyeing her suspiciously. Dragon blood? What in the world was she going to do with it? She offered a bargain, however he thought that she could easily obtain such an item, as he was stuck there against his will and she could easily just cut him and have some of his blood to herself. Was it some sort of contract? It would make sense, a blood contract that would allow her certain abilities with his consent. However, he was concerned with what she was going to do with that blood, exactly. Track him? Do something to him in a way that would benefit her? Control his mind? He didn't know, but he was certain that whatever it was it could increase her power somehow, despite the fact that she had many abilities, assuming she was a mage. Nevertheless, he was trapped. He had to get back home to the prince before sunrise. Otherwise he would be in deep trouble.
"What will you do with this blood?" he asked, eyes narrowing. "Tell me and I shall agree to your request. However shall I find that you use it to harm or track me in someway I shall kindly decline your... generous invitation," he said mockingly, as she spoke with politeness that hardly seemed harmless. Nevertheless, he did not care what she used it for otherwise, even though it may be for evil intention or for her own power-hungry gain.

A dark brow raised slightly, invisible against her shadow kissed skin. He was agreeing almost too easily, even with the stipulation of knowing what she would do with his blood. The gentle stroke of her fingers paused over his scales, head tilting slightly, and then she made a sweeping gesture with her hand, shifting the vines across his muzzle. While he could not lunge to bite her, his jaw could open if he wished it to now, at least partially. Perhaps this one had his own secrets he needed to get back to. She had no issues with that. But blood freely given was always more likely to succeed than blood stolen from a victim. Her voice stayed soft, but firm. ”I assure you, my need is purely for scholarly interest and research. I have no want or need to track or harm you.”
The mage sighed. Unfortunately, trapping a person was not the best way to gain their trust, but there had been little option. At best he would have left, an at worst… her cracked ribs would only be the beginning. Shaecayrn blinked, and wrinkled her nose as she tried to continue and explain slightly. ”Understand, my interests take me many places in research. The properties of dragon’s blood are rumored to be many. I believe many to be folklore of those unintelligent or unlearned enough to believe silly superstitions. So I seek to prove them wrong. Unfortunately, I cannot do so without a sample to research, and your race is… difficult to contact, at best. I would do even more study, but I am unsure if any dragon would deign to share lore of the race with such as me. I seek it anyway, but… ” She cut herself short rather than continue to ramble.
The woman swallowed, and her voice sounded strained as she added. ”I apologize for my methods, but I have gotten rather… desperate. ” It sounded sincere though she also didn't seem to enjoy apologizing at all. Her gaze turned away, almost guiltily, for a moment before she firmed once again. ”I swear to you, none of my research will affect you. I do not wish to track you or harm you or interrupt your life further than I have. All I want is to continue my research. I am willing to bargain for it, if you have need of something I can provide.” She waited now, hands fidgeting slightly, but having withdrawn from his scales, as if she had realized her touch was unwanted.

He looked at her thoughtfully, his maw still wanting to lash out and to snap at her, but the metal trees still held him down. Research? At first he didn't quite believe her, as she had lived here all by herself in the midst of these dark woods. But then as he continued to think while she spoke, perhaps there were some truth to her words. Dragons were hard to find indeed, and, had she asked him nicely while as a human, he would have even denied the fact that he was a dragon. So maybe there was some reasoning to her intentions, but he still remained skeptical. As long as she didn't do anything to him he did not care, as he was more focused on the prince's safety more than anything. If she didn't follow him, that was good enough. He wanted out of this prison.
"Alright," he agreed, tail moving behind him however rather shortly stopping as it was trapped. His eyes narrowed. A bargain. "In exchange for my blood you shall set me free, and you never saw me," he said, in a low and dangerous tone. He didn't want to be spotted, or for her to tell anyone that Ladon was a dragon.

Suspicion flashed through her. This was far too easy. Was he so desperate to get away from her that he would give her anything? Or perhaps it was simply because he had something to return to. A mate? Hatchlings? What was so important that he had to get away from her so quickly? Would any other dragon be this willing to do such a thing as give up blood? She nodded agreement though. Regardless of her own suspicions, she could not allow the opportunity to pass without gaining what she needed. Verbally, she agreed with his condition. "No word of you shall pass my lips to another." Phrased as a promise, with a sincere look upon her face, she stepped closer to him once again. She had no intention of letting him loose before she had her prize.
The mage pulled out a small knife, using it to first pry back one of the scales that armored his neck along the side, and then to slice the skin underneath it. A large vial, one of the ones she used for potions, was pulled from a pocket and held under the trickle of blood that began. It didn't take her long to fill up not only that vial but several others of similar sizes, leaving her with what she hoped would be enough blood. Her breath hitched slightly as she shifted how she stood, muttering a swift spell that sealed the skin and left no trace but the faintest of lines as to where she had pierced his skin. She let the scale fall back into place, and stepped away from him.
The vials were safely tucked away into one of the padded pockets of her cloak, and Shimmer quickly moved back to where his eyes could focus easily upon her once again. "You're far more helpful than I expected...I... cannot thank you enough" She looked at him wide eyed, remembering to actually play the desperate scholar. "Please... forgive me... Releasing you will be slower... It is harder to focus and my energy is lower... The only way to speed this up would be to take from you, but I think I've done enough of that, don't you?" Feigning politeness in order to see if he would offer her his own energy to be free faster. She began chanting softly, her hands moving as if she was physically moving the trees and vines herself. Starting with his tail, the foliage and trees began to return to their natural positions, and matter. Metal turned to wood as they straightened up. The chant itself was over, and she talked to him as she shifted the trees.
"What are you doing in the Mire at night, anyway?" Despite her words, she knew that she could released him just as quickly as she had trapped him. But she didn't wish to. Her curiosity was keeping her dawdling.

The dragon slightly winced, his eyes only narrowing for a bit, as she cut under one scale and through his flesh. It did not hurt him, however it was an odd, small pain. He could then feeling it being sealed, somehow the skin mending back together as she made it a spell perhaps. That was good, even if it was small in dragon form it may be much larger in his human form. His white eyes then peered at her again once she stood before him once more. He did not care about her thanks. He just wanted to be freed from this prison. Whatever she studied he assumed would only prove her wrong in the end. Needing his blood, studying a dragon, she was tempering with something far older and ancient than she imagined. And it was dying. No one can change that fact, not even the dragons themselves. He looked upon her silently as she spoke. That almost made him laugh. If she didn't use much energy in the first place to seal him she wouldn't have that problem. But hopefully it wasn't some sort of trick, and that she had kept her word. His eyes narrowed further, a rejection to her wishes of taking more energy from him. The promise was that he was set free, nothing more. He was willing to wait if the process was slowed but he needed to get back soon. Before sunrise at least.
She then asked him the question. Ladon titled his head only slightly as he tried to get it out of the trees. "Was passing through," he answered vaguely, trying to wiggle his head out through the crevasse. "What about yourself? Do you usually trap dragons here against their will?" he asked in dry humor. But he was more concerned about his own form. "How long does your spell last?" he then asked. "When is it I will be able to shift to human again?" At that moment, he tried to, even if it would prove useless. If he was successful then he could probably get out of the cage much faster.
