Traversing through the forest, the woman in white strode along the small dirt path, not even caring if she dirtied her shoes as she was followed along by a group of men. They walked on both sides of her, not saying a single word as they walked. Siofra had a determined, serious look on her face as she continued to walk forward, the men following. The men were much larger than her size, dressed in armor and almost having a certain unnatural haze in their eyes. They were soldiers no doubt, but it appeared as if they were her bodyguards. Of course, they might not have done so out of their own accord, if she did not corrupt them. It was a small group of mercenaries, one that she had fooled into willingly let her stay with them. It led to their own demise, another addition to her personal collection of guards.
She was on her way to... dispose of one of her adversaries. They were doing too much to worsen her position, and they needed to be taken care of. After all, if they put her in a bad light, then it would be over for her position as almoner. Not only that, but when she saw them leave they cursed words at her. She would never forget. Nor does the woman take insults kindly. Although she may respond with a sweet forgiving smile on her face it hid what really lay inside. Deep anger, hatred toward this person. They probably wanted her position as almoner no doubt, most of them did. Either that or they wanted favor under the elf chief. Politics were made so much harder under this system, unlike other kingdoms that still had royals. Although, she heard a few rumors about the immortals. Either way, fortunately she knew how to take care of it. How to dispose of them swiftly. She could have sent her men out on their own but she wanted to go along herself. She wanted to see them writhe in pain and beg for her mercy before she watches their life fade from their eyes. She wanted to see them pay.
As the group continued to walk, she spotted someone walking toward them in the distance. Her brown eyes widened only a little, but continued to walk as they did. She could not identify who it was, but as they got closer, the beard was unrecognizable. It was not someone from higher ranks, which she was grateful for. Once they reached the man she halted, her men following in suit. She stood in the front of them, taking a few steps forward to separate herself and them. Siofra inspected the stranger. He didn't seem like he was important of any sort. The sun had gone far down below the horizon, and it was an odd time to be out. Siofra was certain she took one of the less common routes, but it wasn't rare to encounter others on the path. Those that might be able to join her group.
"Good evening, sir," Siofra smiled, curtseying slightly. She did her best to appear friendly and cordial, despite the many men behind her. Well, she was an almoner, someone important. So it wasn't rare to see nobles with their guards. "Where are you headed? There are not that many people that I passed by. I hope you are able to make it there before sundown," she said, continuing to look at the man. He looked quite strong, she thought. Perhaps he was a soldier, but she could not tell.

He wasn't in a pleasant mood. Although he rarely was. The tension between him and Ives had knocked him off kilter and he wasn't sure how to find his balance again. Drowning it in drink hadn't worked as of yet. Neither had a show of fire. So now he was returning home with the thought in mind to go speak with him. To hash out whatever was so broken between them before the fissure grew wider. And if he had to he would go after that damn creature alone again. Anything to alleviate this heavy feeling in his chest. If there was anything worse than spending the last eighty years as a loner it was having a taste of companionship and losing it.
His footsteps were heavy and with the burns that were scattered over his tanned skin he hadn't bothered to put his shirt back on. It had probably been burned to a crisp back on the sands anyway. He heard the clatter of metal before he saw them. A squad of weapon clad men with a little petite woman at their lead dressed in all white. He was certain he had seen her before. Flitting around helping others or something of the like. In general not the type of person that he would associate with. He planned to step to the side and let them pass without speaking but it was the tiny elf that stopped him. Her little high pitched voice grating to his ears.
"I'm fine Almoner. Its not as if the big scary monsters come out at night." His words were cold just like his present mood but he did resist the urge to roll his eyes at her silly concerns. With a half wave and hunched shoulders Rook continued on to begin to walk past her and in between her men in formation. He didn't need a giant escort like some people.

She turned her head as the elf walked away, seeing him pass as the men moved over to the side, all of their eyes gazing upon him in an eery manner. Still staying where she was, she turned around and called back to him, seeing his back faced toward her as he walked. "We have heard some strange noises," she lied. "I believe at this time of evening the chimeras come out from hiding." She held her ground, still standing aside from her men as she waited for him to turn around, hoping to hear more. Although, she knew that he was probably going to continue to walk anyway. "I am worried for your safety," she said with concern, although it masked her true intentions. This one... that build, if he was confident enough to defeat the creature, perhaps he could be of use to her. She did not know how strong the man could be, but now as he saw them, the future news of her rival's death might make him suspicious. She could not let him tell the authorities that she had been on this path with her men. Perhaps it was already a losing game for him anyway.
He was outnumbered, and as her determination fixed on him, the guards behind her grew restless. Although they remained behind her, it was evident that they wished to give in to their dark desires more, however as she could provide the corruption, they would do so only when she ordered them to. They enjoyed it, they relished the fact. She could tell that many of them had hatred and anger from the beginning, now lost away within the blindness of their rage. It made them more subservient to her, the ones that desired to be lost to their corruption. It was like all of their darker emotions were forced out into their exterior, and most raptured the fact. But only she could provide it to them. If they killed her the power would cease to be, and they would no longer relish in that joy.
Siofra also wished to hear the man deny her false worry. It would give more insight to who, and what, he was. Was he a guard that protected the city? Did he have a high moral standing? Or was he ignorant, selfish, angry? From the looks of it she could tell by the way he brushed her off he held negative emotions. Indeed, it would be easier to corrupt him, she thought.

"Chimeras?" He parroted, turning back to look at the little elf in white. In all his years he hadn't the pleasure of seeing such a creature. She was either foolish or up to something to try to start such ridiculous propaganda. "Spread your tales to someone else who cares to listen girl, I need not your worry or 'your' protection." The pale blue of his eyes for just a moment appeared filled with rippling flames. Perhaps he was showing her that he could take care of himself. Or maybe he was boasting. Either way he hoped it would rid him of the tiny thorn in his side. Briefly he looked at her guards and his eyes narrowed. Strange...there was something not quite right but he couldn't put his finger on it. He hadn't noticed it before but something felt distinctly 'wrong'.
Even nobles of their kind rarely traveled with so many guards. Larger numbers brought attention that was generally unwarranted. His eyes rolled over the men and the tiny woman. His lips twitching into the hint of a grin. Certain there was something more sinister going on here than the almoner would have him believe. "...just what are you up to, Almoner?" He ask slowly. Curiously.

Of course, the disbelief and anger in his words pleased her greatly. She could feel the over confidence in the man, knowing that whatever he was, he may be of use to her after all. Her rival was a formidable opponent indeed, Siofra could use another help in defeating them. After all, they were alone in the woods, no one would miss the man she assumed. Just like all the others. The mercenaries behind her continued to shift uncomfortably, like a lion wanting out of its cage. They wanted to lash out at the man, for they had emotions so great that they wanted to release them, the only thing standing in their way was the petite woman. He would make a nice addition to the other men, she thought. Although she hoped that he may prove to be more of use. Perhaps stronger. She did not know, but she guessed that he may even be stronger than the mercenaries. He ventured alone, and they did not, which was something that showed more to her. Perhaps it was the fact that she was dying to corrupt another person, to show the world what evil really lay within all of its people. She just had an itch to spread the darkness of the spirit, even if it meant sparing her energy. Though she did not need much of it after all, since their emotions were so great they would do most of the dirty work for her.
Taking a gentle step forward, the almoner looked at him sweetly, stopping close before him. She smiled, and her eyes ever looking so warm. Siofra placed a delicate hand on his arm in reassurance, standing beside him. "Just looking out for a fellow elf," she said. But at that moment, she could feel the corruption beginning to spread from her palm and into the man. It was something unseen, as if were a normal touch. However, if one could look into spirits perhaps they would describe it as darkening. Or maybe just all the evil thoughts, hatred, anger, vengeance, lust, greed, beginning to spread throughout. Afterwards her eyes lit up in excitement, delightfully taking a few steps back to see if the corruption had taken its effect on him or not. He might try to fight it, but it would be only time before he would eventually succumb. She didn't know how long it would take, but either way she would enjoy seeing him fight against himself or just let the darkness consume him. People were such despicable creatures, they would not be able to give up their inner desires, not for long.

'I fell into a burnin' ring of fire ' He jerked his arm away when the tiny elf touched him. But not quick enough. He didn't really feel anything from the contact but the annoyance inside of him bloomed. His anger surfaced like an unearthed dragon and the fire in his veins sang with a need to be seen. He turned back to her with confusion written on his features. He wasn't a fool and old enough to know when something was being done to him. Magic? It had to be.
"What the hell did you do to me?!" He growled. Normally his hands would burn and itch with an unsung fire. But this time fire shot from his palms without him even releasing his hold on it.
He smirked as he stared down at her. Taking a step closer so that he could stare down at her with a sneer on his face. "Oh what have you done little elf? You're no almoner." |

Well this was coming along rather nicely. She took a few slight steps back to avoid herself to be consumed by the flames, however her smirk matched his own. Siofra was highly confident that he would not dare to lay a hand on her, although she merely stood back in case if her dress caught onto a stray flame. She had no idea about his fire magic, but was not surprised. Indeed, all elves had elemental magic. The one that stood in front of her was no different. She did not answer his first question, for she knew that it would fade in his mind in time. She contained a laugh when he asked the second question. Seeing him look down upon her as he stood dangerously close was actually quite satisfying to her. She matched his gaze as she looked back up at him although hers was out of confidence, delight that her powers had taken their effect upon him. The little elf smiled. "Indeed, I am the ruler of the world. This is my domain. I own everything, including you," she spoke, knowing that as she did her magic would continue to spread within him. "Everything shall be corrupted. Isn't this what you desire? Don't you feel good, just, letting it all out?" with graceful movements, she took delicate footsteps as she paced around the man, her eyes not taken off of him. She looked him up and down as she walked, seeing the fire flare out from his palms that made her impressed.
"The whole world shall fall under my fingertips. You hurt me, all of this. All of the good feelings will be gone," she warned, although she continued to smile as she did so, appearing back in front of him with the continued smile on her face. "I wonder, what has caused you to be so... angry," she then said. "Don't worry, you can tell me. Tell me anything you like. No one will judge you. No one will think you are a monster. You are welcome with us." This usually tugged on their strings, she knew. They always had some sort of sad past that she could take advantage of. Isolation. Devastation. All of it was so familiar. It was like a pattern that happened across the many people that she had corrupted. "You don't have anyone other than me. No one wants to see what you have become. But us, we will accept you. Only I can understand you. You can feel your emotions spread, can you? You can let them all out, eventually." The men in the back were about to attack the man, however once they seemed to recognize that he was beginning to be on their side they seemed to settle. They stood still, and some even smiled. Siofra then turned around to face them, skipping as she turned back to where Rook was, inviting him along in her dance-like movements.
"Up ahead, that is where you can make all the fire you want. Let out all of your emotions. Your hatred, anger. Tell me, was it something that someone said that upset you? They are up ahead. They are waiting for you. Waiting for you to take them down. They deserve to be burnt by your hands. They hurt you after all," she said sadly, sympathetically, knowingly. "They are allied with this woman. She has done many wrong doings, influencing others that are far below her to do her dirty work. You don't know how capable she is. Even the most common of peasants, to the highest positions such as the Lore Keeper. She has many connections, all throughout the lands. They are all subservient of her. Who knows, if the ones that hurt you are allied with her, then you shall be destroying them as well," she spoke, her smirk growing widely as she spewed her lies. "She will have high defenses. All of her soldiers, they need to be burnt down. We need you," she then swayed her head ever so sweetly, looking up at him as if he were their only hope.
"If you want, I can spread more darkness within you. It looks like you want more," she said. It was addictive, like a drug. She all knew that it was like a high that they wanted to lose themselves in. "But come along now, the destruction cannot wait," she called, and if he indeed wished for more, she would offer another hand to place upon him. The darkness would spread further, causing more evil to take place. That, and the effects would last longer. It would be good then, as with sometimes the corruption of one touch was not enough for those with strong wills. A second one would let them sink in more into the darkness, making them more numb to everything but their dark emotions.

His icy gaze studied the little elven woman as she spoke. A laugh erupting from his chest when she said she was a king, their lord, the source of the release of emotions that he was feeling. That gave him reason to pause. The utter freedom he felt right then. The desire to do as he wished for what ever reason he deemed fit. Not worrying about good and right. It was so freeing. He didn't bother to follow her movements when she pranced around him. Instead lifting his eyes to her men. A smirk curling his lips as he stared at them. A few seemed uneasy about his proximity to the woman. The sickly part of him wanted to give them a reason to be. But he didn't want to cut this whatever it was, short.
When she asked what made him angry Rook's attention quickly flicked back to her. Ives name bubbling in his throat, unheeded by normal inhibitions. "The lore keeper." He looked at her men with the word welcome settling into his ragged brain like a balm. He was always like an outsider among his people. A wildcard with the most dangerous and unpredictable of their elements.
He didn't respond when she prattled on about some woman and the far reaching effects her death would have. The idea of releasing his fire was enough to turn him to the idea. When she offered her touch he didn't resist, even holding out his arm for her. "Lets burn her then." He said simply. Briefly the flash of Ives face moved through his mind. The shy smile that made his stomach ache. He quickly forced him from his thoughts. He wouldn't think of Ives right now. Not when he was the one to make him feel like this.
"Make me forget it all." He said flatly, his voice low and meant only for her. His eyes no longer watching her but the ground at his feet. He didn't want this. He did't want the memories that took his breath. The ghostly feel of Ives' flesh beneath his fingertips. He wanted to forget it all and just let his anger take hold. Let his fire burn.

Place your trust in me, you have no one else "The lore keeper?" Siofra titled her head slightly, curious. That was very interesting. She had only made a wild guess at her mention of the lore keeper. Was he a guard for the lore keeper or something? It made her wonder. If anything, they could take a stop to the library. She never personally met the man, but if this one hated him so much then it would be worth it. He would be powerless to stop her. The lore keeper was indeed one of the more important ones of the elves. Having him under her control would increase her position highly. But first, to take care of her loathsome rival.
She took his arm, nearly leaning her head upon it in a sympathetic manner. "Do not worry," she said in a soothing tone. "All of the memories shall fade away." Her corruption then released from her touch into his soul. Indeed, with more of a free mind, he would be able to let more corruption in. It would make it much easier to control his actions. He would also be darker, perhaps stronger in a sense. He may lose his memories of what had happened, although, he might also lose his memories of what was currently happening as well. Although, that would better work in her favor once the effects were worn off. She could feel her energy continue to drain from her, but it was well worth her while. Once she was done, she would let him sink into the newly found darkness for a moment. Hopefully now he would be even more compliant. And more willing to destroy.
"Come along now," she gestured, with a smile all too beautiful for her evil intentions. "Let us not wait," she then turned, walking toward her path that they had resumed in. She led the way, the men following behind her, and they even made way for the newcomer, allowing him in their circle. |

Rook fell silent and inclined his head to the woman when she practically curled around his arm. He normally wouldn't tolerate such things but as it was he wasn't himself. And as her darkness sank deeper into his soul, pulling more of his own darkness to the surface he did stop thinking about his regrets. About his pain. Everything that made Rook himself disappeared into an all enveloping darkness that consumed him. When the small elf woman walked away he followed. Blue eyes briefly flicking to the other soldiers before back to the tiny elf they followed.
(end?)
