The walk back home had become a bit of a treacherous one leaving him for a moment sitting on a log and resting. He hadn’t felt so feeble and weak. His hip made it a little hard to move as smoothly as he would like to but he was at least thankful he could walk now. His half werebeast blood had made the healing process from the healers go a little quicker but it wasn’t completely gone in a day like he had hoped. Instead, he was able to walk but still feeling rough and a bit sick to his stomach from the small bits of pain he was left with. The ending goal was what kept him going. A few days more he would be able to walk smoother but all he had to do was just hibernate in bed for the meantime…. If his hotblooded mate allowed him to. Hand scraped down his face for a moment forcing blue eyes to shut before casting a glance around his surroundings. He was just glad that part of his life seemed to be closed. The Boss no longer had a strong enough contender to chase him down all the while the two girls that meant anything to him were completely out of harm's way of the organization. Life could move on and he planned on doing so once he got over this hump he was now faced with.
Curse his parents for making him a half-breed.
Clenching his jaws he forced himself back up into a stand and started to be on the move again walking with a very stiff leg to get as less movement as possible. Limping made his trek all the slower and his patience on the matter was thinning the closer he got to home. Part of him hoped Lucia would be there so he could get so much needed stress relief of her next to him in bed and yet the other side hoped she wasn’t. It wasn’t that he didn’t miss her. It was more or less he needed that time to also recharge. That was all he needed a day or two and be back to normal. He doubted he would need to run off somewhere after the experience he went through.
Heading on through the woods he started getting the feeling he wasn’t alone. A soft growl vibrated in his throat as he continued on not caring enough to use his nose to test for a scent. He just wanted to go home and sleep. However, when he finally did catch sight of a familiar silhouette air got caught in his throat and his heart felt like it was trying to leap just as high. ”L-Larkin?” he definitely hadn’t expected to see her out here nor did he think he was really ready to face her. ”What are you doing out here?” He leaned on a nearby tree to help keep his weight displaced on more than just one foot. It wasn’t any of his business but he couldn’t deny he still worried about her even if it was no longer his job to. Larkin Silvaris

Larkin was doing well at last. She was back home with her brother and although she still hadn't approached Ives about her apprenticeship she was settling back into life at Aelfmenn once again. She was careful to keep her wrist covered at all times in public. The distinct obsidian tattoo showed brilliantly against her alabaster flesh. She also wore loose fitting clothing, long sweaters mostly, that would hang down past her thighs. Beneath those, she wore comfortable legging like pants with her boots. Her long ivory hair was in two loose braids, one hanging over each shoulder to twist and twirl down her chest. She wasn't very obviously pregnant yet. Her stomach was still very small but contact would easily reveal that her small stomach was firm with more than just a hearty meal.
Before Felix had taken her she had been terrified of these woods. Practically running through them when she had to travel between locations. Now though she was much less fearful and walked calmly. Today she was heading home which was just outside the city of Aelfmenn. A large warm cookie held in her hand that she happily munched on. She had just taken another bite and pocked it in her cheek like a hamster when a growl reached her ears. Instinctively the rabbit froze and went rigid. Wide blue eyes searching her surroundings for the source of the sound.
She heard her name and turned to see none other than Felix standing there, looking rather rough and just as shocked as she. Larkin blinked, the forgotten cookie falling from her fingers and down to the snow at her feet. "Felix." Guilt immediately sank into her gut, like she shouldn't be here, shouldn't even be speaking with him. He hadn't wanted her around then, surely now was no different.
"I-I was going home. Remember? This is where-" you took me. But she didn't finish her sentence. Instead, she fell silent. Her blue eyes falling down to his chest, a safer bet than looking him in the eye, even from this distance. "Are you ok?"

Every aspect of his personality was telling him to avoid and avoid hard but this was Larkin we are talking about and she didn’t deserve that type of disrespect. So he just kept his eyes elsewhere trying to allow himself to shut down at his core and not care. This was would have been so much easier had this been months ago. If he hadn’t drug himself in as deep as he had. He was a fucking idiot. But that was where his avoidance had come from. He didn't do well with confrontations or revisiting the past. He certainly didn't do well with confronting his feelings and would rather avoid anything and everything that wasn't his brother. A socially anxious person who hid behind a darker persona was what he was. He was avoiding Lucia and using Larkin to do so. Didn't mean he didn't miss the touchy little rabbit and her illuminating personality. She made the dark not so suffocating but luckily with his time with her, he had learned to calm the beast. To anchor himself down. That much he could thank her for even if he readily ruined her life to get here.
She spoke obviously having more to say at the end of it and he just gave a nod. He knew where that was going. The snark was there but it wasn’t like he didn’t deserve it. ”Right.” He said. He shifted again thinking about attempting to walk past and continuing on his way. Her next question caused him to arch a brow. Did he look okay? But keeping from allowing his own seething irritation to rise to the surface he simply shook his head no. ”Not really.”
At least he didn’t feel okay the healers had otherwise to say.
Time was what he needed and time wasn’t what he was going to get. If he could have just avoided running into her again just a little longer it would have been better. The numbness was just starting to take over and unfortunately seeing her prematurely was going to break his resolve. ”You don’t have to talk to me.” he randomly added. It was more habit in calling out to her anyway. ”But...” He shuffled a bit and moved from the tree, limping. He wasn’t her favorite person and he wasn’t going to drag her down any further than he already had. ”The king is dead so you should be fine to go wherever you please.” Though he knew two people important to him where around Aeflmenn so if she didn’t want to she didn’t have to worry about the king dragging her back. He and his henchmen had been destroyed. ”Well I wouldn’t suggest Cendra they would still try and snatch you but being hunted down you should be fine.” He started moving forward, eyes on the ground and focused to keep from looking at her. If he could just make it past and keep going it would be okay. He could do this. He could do this.
”Sorry for stopping you, Larkin.” He kept his head low. He was pretty well aware he was dirt compared to her.

He said he wasn't alright and immediately blossomed in her chest. Larkin took a couple steps closer, stepping on her forgotten cookie in the process. But she stopped before she crossed too much distance. Her small hand reaching out in front of her as if searching for purchase, for something solid, for him. She appeared confused as to what to do but eventually wrung her hand with her other. Allowing them the cross over her stomach as she fiddled. "I..." She didn't have to speak to him...what did he mean by that? Did he want her to walk away now? Had she done something else to upset him already?
He said the king was dead and other than Cendra she should be safe. She hadn't even thought about the danger in days but now with his reassurance, she nodded. Trusting him completely to keep her safe, even then. "Is he who-" hurt you? But Felix was walking again. Head low, steps limping but determined. Larkin watched him with a sad expression on her face. She didn't know what she could say to him now. What to do. It had been so easy with him before...feeling like she belonged with him. But he had gone back to his mate...even when he had said he was with her. The smell of the feline was all over his skin, along with a second sweet scent that had made her chest ache.
Larkin could have never been his first choice. She wasn't his mate. He had protected her, cared for her, and broken her heart. She couldn't hate him but she wished she could. It would be easier, she thought, than this. "Felix-" His name came softly, more of a whimper than a call to him. It hurt...it hurt so bad to see him turn his back on her. She had been doing so well....seeing him brought it all back. All the love she had for him rising to the surface and making it hard for her to breathe.
"-are you happy?" Her blue eyes lifted, searching for his own. After a moment she realized how her words might sound and she quickly shook her head. "I-I'm not trying to- I wouldn't-I just-" She couldn't finish a single thought before another broke in. Couldn't find the words to say what she wanted to. Her large eyes filled with frustrated tears and the little hybrid rubbed at her face with a soft sniffling sound.
"I just want to know that you are happy."

Why was this so hard? Why couldn’t he just stare her down with an expressionless gaze? He had done this time and time again in his head. He had envisioned this very meeting so many times and every time he thought he had it down. He could go blank like he had done so many times before. Practiced it even. Yet here he was standing in front of the little rabbit and couldn’t even look at her. His chest was beginning to hurt as much as his hip was. He could see everything she did out of the corner of his eye, her fidgeting, something he knew all too well she did when she fought with herself on how to feel and what to say. But to him, he wasn’t even worth her acknowledgment. So he went through the processing of trying to dismiss himself and make it easier. All he had to do was walk away and continue to mend or at least fake till he made it. She spoke which caused him to stop all movements and lift his head to look at her. Did he really need to answer that or was it more of a rhetorical thing? But with it being Larkin there were things she just needed to be explained. ”Yeah…” he said though broke eye contact. He started to move again, the distance between them much shorter now and immediately her scent hit him.
His heart raced. It wasn’t even a predator sense of smell it was more intoxication. He felt shivers traveling along his shoulders and up the back of his neck. That was something he hadn’t felt in a while. Not quite like that. No less he was gonna try and just push through it but she slowed him again. This time completely froze. The way she spoke his name had caused those goosebumps on his skin to intensify and his brows furrowed a bit. What in the world was wrong with him? Glancing towards her now his head low and chin towards his chest, blue eyes stayed on the pale girl. Her question was what hit him hard.
It was a loaded one for sure.
She then quickly spoke as if he thought she was trying to change things but even he knew that wouldn’t happen. She was far gone from him now even if she was standing in front of him. He… hurt her.. And that to him was unforgivable. He had almost been there. He had almost gotten away and had he just kept focused he probably could have escaped this very question. Was he happy? Well, sure he likes to say he was or at least he was trying to be. He was trying to do the right thing. He was trying to do what you are supposed to do with a mate. He was trying to tell himself that what he felt with Larkin hadn’t been ‘real’. ”I didn’t think you were.” he said with a small weak smile. ”You worry too much.” he had told her that often. She was always fussing over something about him or if it wasn’t about him it was a different worry about a conversation they were having.
He wanted to nod his head yes and go with what his head was telling him to say. Break this invisible chain once and for all on him but he was having a hard time in doing so. ”I--...” his brows furrowed a bit. ”want to be.” He wasn’t sure how to answer it. Anyone who was mated shouldn’t hesitate. He was happy. He was. ”I’m trying to be.” he tried again. He rubbed the back of his neck and eyes shot down towards her boots. ”But I don’t think I deserve it even if I was.” Lucia meant a lot to him as did Larkin. Both girls for different reasons. Love and being whole. No less one was stronger in one than it was the other. ”It’s okay though. Pretty sure I am getting everything I deserve,” He gave her another small but humorless smile. ”Please don’t worry about me.” before giving another humorless dry chuckle. ”I will figure it out.”

Larkin gave him a tiny grateful smile, her large eyes still glistening with unshed tears. Of course, he would understand. Felix always understood her. Always talked things through, explained things in ways she could understand. He seemed to accept the fact that her brain worked a little differently than others without questioning it or making her feel inferior. "Always." She replied quietly, her lips still twisted with the remnants of her small smile.
He was closer now. It made her heart jump into her throat to remember the way he had once held her close and made her feel like nothing and no one would harm her. She would have never thought that he would be the one to cut her so deep that even after a couple weeks just the sight of him had torn her emotions asunder all over again. Larkin chewed on her bottom lip and fiddled with her sweater as she waited for him to speak. His answer wasn't what she had wanted to hear. She wanted to hear that he was happy and that his life was going well. That he had no regrets and was looking to the future.
But that wasn't what he said. He sounded...unsure. And that made her frown. "But...you do." She said weakly. She had been so bold with Felix from the beginning. Saying what came to mind even when she shouldn't. But now...now she didn't know how to navigate. "You deserve it." She risked a look at his face but he was staring down at her boots with a humorless smile on his lips. "I...I can't not worry about you, I'm sorry." Her thin arms shifted, wrapping around herself and over her small chest to hug herself.
But she couldn't help him. He didn't want her around. He had said as much a few weeks ago. It had been such a surprise to her. She had one day of happiness in their little house. One day thinking that it was all going to work out until it came crashing down again. It shouldn't be this hard to be near him now. Someone who didn't want her. But seeing him so unsure and hurt she just wanted to hug him tight and help him forget about the rest of the world. Only, that wasn't her place anymore. It was his mates.
"Just because...because you wanted to be with her-that doesn't mean you don't deserve to be happy. I understand." And she did. But it didn't make it hurt any less. "She's your mate and I was..." A distraction, a plaything, something....she didn't even know. But it hurt to even think that what they had might have been something so shallow. She blinked quickly, tears suddenly brimming in her large eyes. "I s-should go." She stammered. But didn't move. She waited for him to leave first. She couldn't go home and cry, let her brother know what was going on. She would have to get it out here with only the trees to bear witness to her pain. "I know you will. You always do." She couldn't even manage a smile this time. Her brow furrowing a she tried to hold the tears back.

She never judged him and he never judged her. They were both a couple of odd pairs in their own ways. She never once questioned why he did things and how his own quirks of being around other people worked. She somehow scathed passed the hostility and reached the real him. He spotted her smile and though it was very small it infected his own causing him to grow a little bigger. Though realizing he was smiling he quickly cleared it. No that wasn’t the right emotion he should be feeling. This was not okay. He did his breath to slow his breathing as it all started to well in his chest.
It only tightened even worse when she asked her question and he tried to reason with his voice and heart on what his head was telling him. The answer didn’t appease her but he didn’t really know what else to tell her. He made his bed and he was gonna lie in it. He was to be the mate, after all, he found her he had to be with her. No less it felt like he couldn’t convince himself as easily as his head was telling him it would be. She spoke and though he was not looking at her he could hear it in her voice. She was unhappy. She was hurting again. He caused her to hurt again. ”I wish you w-wouldn’t..” he said quietly closing his eyes tight and turning his head a bit. Where was his wolf now? Why couldn’t the bastard show his ugly face and get him out of here? ”I don’t want to hurt you anymore. I hurt you enough and I regret doing that. I jus-... I just-.” he wasn’t a crier. He didn’t let those emotions get ahold of him like that even the last time he ran into Lucia before the cave hadn’t gotten tears out of him. What she said though made a couple slip out and he quickly wiped them away. She was wrong. ”I was just doing what I thought I should do. You don’t get to have what you want.” that was a warped way of thinking but it was how his head worked.
”Important.” he finished her words finally glancing at her his eyes red and being irritated. His throat hurt from all the welling emotion in it, feeling swollen and hard to swallow. It was then she said she should go and without thinking or seeing if she actually was he went to move after her. ”Wait.” Only when he did step it was with the wrong foot putting weight down and instantly it giving out under his weight. He fell to his knees rather hard and gave a canine yelp cursing under his breath as he shifted his weight onto his good leg and then fell to his rump to sit on the ground. The earth was cold and he could feel the icy touch under his clothing. No less it was a good anchor for him to regain control of himself. Focusing on it for a moment. ”Don’t go yet…. please.” he said quieter this time with a strained voice. ”I don’t want you to go.”

Important. How could he say that when he had so quickly tossed her away? But she didn't comment, instead, she had turned to leave. It was only his strangled cry followed by a pained sound that turned her back to him. Seeing him going down Larkin quickly made her way over to him. When she reached him he was sitting in the snow. Reluctantly she looked at his face, hearing the strain in his voice. "Felix...." She said his name quietly. A plea to not make her hurt worse. It was hard enough just seeing him. Knowing he held another woman in his arms every night and loved her.
She swallowed hard and turned her face to the side so that she didn't have to see his face. Blinking quickly to try to keep the tears from falling. She couldn't cry...if she did she might never stop. Slowly the little hybrid lowered herself down onto her knees in front of him. Ignoring the cold bite of the snow she sat back on her heels. A shaking hand reached out toward him. Aiming to touch his knee. But her small fingers curled against her palm and she suddenly moved forward. Her arms wrapping around his neck the lithe woman fell against his chest, crying before she made contact.
"It isn't fair." She whispered against his neck. "It isn't fair that I love you this much." Her small fists curled in the fabric of his coat to hold herself close and she cried into his neck. Letting all the emotion out that she hadn't been able to last time when he had ended them. She just let it all pour out until her shoulders were shaking and her entire body quaked from where she had curled up on his lap. "You have to be ok. You have to be happy. That's the only way I can deal with this....all of it."
She had tried so hard to not do this. To not break down in front of him. But even if he had chosen someone else he was still her Felix. "I'm sorry I wasn't enough. I wanted to be." Her grip on him tightened and Larkin curled against him to brave the storm of her own pain.

He felt pretty miserable sitting there in the snow. The chance was given and he didn’t take it but instead made it worse for himself. He leaned a little on his good leg as she fell to her knees in front of him. She was so close. A breath away and it was steadily taking away his own. He had to relearn how to breathe around her again only this time he couldn’t just inhale her. He had to be polite and keep a distance. The contact would only make it worse and though the cold, for now, reminded him of how he should behave, it was quickly broken.
Before he knew it Larkin slammed into him forcing a growl from his chest and up his throat before blinking a couple of times realizing what was going on. Releasing his stiffening body little by little he finally wrapped his arms around her and rested his nose in her hair. She whimpered to him letting out what he had been waiting for. She finally broke and started to soak his neck with her tears. What he wanted to say was what he shouldn’t say and so he just clamped his jaws shut. ”I'm sorry….” was all he managed. He shouldn’t have made her fall for him only to end up leaving in the end and not just her --- her paused for a moment remembering the very child she carried. All of this emotion wasn’t good for her. She would eventually make herself sick. ”I will be. I just need time.” he said. He was lying partially. He wasn’t sure he was going to be okay or that he and Lucia would be okay. The two of them ran hot and it was very likely they would clash but what he couldn’t do for Larkin he was going to try and do for Lucia. It wasn’t fair but he was going to try. ”We both do..” His voice was soft as he changed it from him to her.
”You we--- you are.” he didn’t want her to doubt herself even if he was conflicting with his actions. ”I’m not going to pretend that I make sense because I know I don’t. But don’t doubt yourself so much.” No matter what he did someone got hurt but he was put with Lucia for a reason right? The goddesses did it for some reason and he had to give that a chance to figure it out. He had to give her a chance as well as himself and he hated himself for hurting Larkin the way he did. An innocent bystander. He grabbed her hand in between his hands as he pushed her back gently so she could look up at him. Her blue eyes glittered with her innocent tears that stained her pale skin. She was absolutely beautiful. ”I wish I could stop your hurting….” he said quietly wiping the tears from her cheeks though as successfully as he liked. ”I wish I could do more for you… “

Larkin didn't want to leave that spot against his chest. The contact that gave her at least some support. But when he pushed her back she didn't cling to him, simply crumbled. Her head bowing down under the weight of it all. She couldn't look him in the eye and swallowed against the lump in her throat in vain. "I am ok." It was a lie. She had been ok, until she saw him. Then it all came crashing down around her again. "...I...I will be. I hope." The feel of his fingers on her cheeks, trying in vain to keep the tears at bay only made her feel worse. Her shaking hands rose to curl around his wrists but she didn't pull them away. "You saved my life, you don't owe me anything. It was...it was my mistake. I just thought....and I shouldn't have."
Slowly her grip fell away from her hands and her arms would move to curl around her small pregnant belly. "....did you love me, Felix? Or...or did you just say it to be nice to me?" Her words weren't harsh or cruel. But it was a question that had bothered her. That nagged at her. She needed to know...she had to know if any part of it had been real or if it had all been a fantasy of her own creation.
"Did I just imagine all of it?" She didn't look at him now. Didn't make a move to touch him. She was still crying but not sobbing as she had been. Tears streamed silently down her pale cheeks and over her collarbone. One of her braids had come undone and now lay in loose curls down her chest, covering part of her face.
"I don't want you to tell me anything just to be...-to be nice to me. I need to know if it was all just in my head. If I...if I seduced you. If I made you say things you didn't mean." Her voice broke and the little hybrid tried to squeeze her eyes shut to stop the tears. "If I imagined that you loved me." Maybe she was crazy. Everyone had always commented on how different she was...maybe it wasn't such a good thing after all.

She fell limp in his hold her fingers reaching up only once to grab his wrists but soon let them fall away. Her next question caused him to tip his head. She thought he didn’t mean any of the things he told her? He supposed he could see why. It was a quick severance with no true explanation other than they needed to end it. He shook his head no. ”You didn’t imagine anything.” he said quietly. ”I did and still do love you, Larkin.” He fell into a little too deep and he knew he did. He shouldn’t love her but he did. He shouldn’t care for her but he did. The real reality of the whole thing was he just wanted her to be okay. She hugged herself he gently let go of her head as his eyes fell towards her stomach she was no craddling. ”I don’t regret meeting you or having what we did.” he knew that was probably on the cusp of another question that was lingering in her head. ”I was….. Happy. Truly happy when I was with you.” he gave her a small smile. But duty calls. When he had met up with Lucia that night in the cave because he had gotten chased down there by those Guardians. It felt right. It felt like it was something he was supposed to do and give a chance. ”But it was scary because I don’t know how to be happy.” his eyes squeezed a bit. ”I usually ruin it and with you I most certainly did.” he bit his lip as he looked at her but she was avoiding eye contact.
His eyes once more fell down towards her stomach. Lucia didn’t even know about the unborn child but to be honest he didn’t want her to know. If Lucia had a problem with Larkin just existing what would she do about the babe? He wouldn’t selfishly put the child in danger by telling his mate about it. If he could avoid the entire conversation he would. Leaning slightly forward his hand hesitantly inched forward fingers extended to touch the small bump beneath her heavy long sweater. It was a little startling when his fingertips made contact with the firm small tummy. He pulled back a bit eyes glancing up at her for a moment almost looking for a sign of disapproval. ”Do you feel it… move?” he wanted to scoot closer completely curious and yet he knew he shouldn’t. She was close enough. She was causing his body to react in ways he knew it shouldn’t.
His hip was starting to remind him of the awkward way he was leaning and he winced a little and attempting to shift. He bit his lip a little bit wanting to be close again but that was probably a hint he was too close. "You know despite what you may think you taught me how to remain in control of my problem.” though like always there was still slips, still mishaps because he most certainly wasn’t perfect but he was so close now. So close to reigning in that wolf. He wasn’t sure how she did it maybe it was because he had to learn to keep his hot temper under control when it came to her slower processing. He tried to not be as trigger happy with his temper that was for sure. ”Larkin--...” he licked his lips nervously wanting to ask her a question but not sure if he should. ”Do you--.... Wish you didn’t meet me?”

Felix's words brought a smile to the lithe woman's face. It was broken and her eyes still glimmered with tears. But she was glad, at least, that it was real. "Thank you." She said softly. "I was happy too." BUt that part of her life was over and now she was left to navigate without him. It wasn't easy. It wouldn't be easy. It was hard to keep moving when a part of you was left behind but she had little choice. He was trying to be happy again. He had his mate. He had apparently moved on. What we 'did' have he said. And she understood. They were over. Even if she didn't want them to be.
He was scooting forward and Larkin saw his hand moving toward her. Bright blue eyes rose to study his face as his hand settled gently against her stomach. She bit her lip and reached down to place her small hand over his. Her way of letting him know it was alright. He hadn't really shown any positive interest in the babe up to that point...it was nice for him to take a little interest. She shook her head when he asked if she had felt it move. "Not yet. At least I don't think so...I don't really know what it would feel like if it did." She laced her fingers through the little gaps between his, covering his as he felt her stomach. If he pulled away she would release him. Her gaze moving worriedly to Felix when he shifted a bit. Obviously in pain.
She moved closer so that he wouldn't have to lean as much. But not as close as she had been when she was crying. "I did?" She asked quietly. But then he was asking another question. This one seemed harder for him. Larkin blinked, her blue eyes studying him in silence for several moments before she gave him a small smile. "...I could never wish that." Larkin pulled his hand gently away from her stomach and upward to her face where she could place a soft kiss on his palm. It was brief, quick. She then held his hand with both of hers. "I wouldn't have known what it was like then....to really love someone. I would have never gotten comfortable with shifting. I would have never gotten over my fear of the forest. And....even if it hurts I don't want to forget about you. Maybe...maybe it won't hurt as badly one day." A tiny frown came over her face then. Her brows drew together and the pain causing her to look away for a moment to gather herself.
Silently she moved, crawling closer to him then turning so that she could lean her back against his chest. She reached out for his arms and if he would allow her to she pulled them around her. "Just....one last time. I want to feel your arms around me, one last time." A tiny sigh slipped past her lips as she snuggled back against him. The tears had started again, but she wasn't sobbing now. Just a slow but steady stream down each cheek.

Seeing her happy even if for just a moment and for a rather sad reason was enough to make him feel slightly better. She took the positive out of it even if the true meaning was a lot harder to swallow. He knew how it meant to her. To be assured that she wasn’t crazy and that what happened between them was real and deep. He felt it and she wanted to be sure he did. He didn’t think she was crazy and couldn’t really understand why others did.
He saw his fingers moving towards her before really registering what he was doing. The touch was startling with just how firm it was and how real it was settling in. There was a tiny life form in there. A tiny life that he had helped create that was a perfect mixture of him and her. He supposed she really wouldn’t have felt much or if she did it would be more like bubbles in her tummy for hunger or gas and she wouldn’t really recognize it. The belly was awfully small and since she was such a small woman, it likely wasn’t all that big, to begin with. No less his mouth was already forming the words asking her. ”hmm…” He said as he eyed his hand on her belly where she kept his hand now firmly in place. Her fingers taking up space between his own. Such little things like this got his heart beating again in his ears and it caused a light to almost flicker back in those darkened blue eyes. ”I imagine when it gets bigger you will. I remember when --- Eriu was pregnant with Lux you could see her move.” it was wild really. How their bodies could create something out of two tiny cells and create organs that supported someone else.
But his hip, of course, had to ruin the moment and much to his surprised Larkin followed. A soft smile was on his lips even at her question and he nodded. He had learned a lot of patience dealing with her and it easily made up for his hot temper. He still had to learn to use it on Lucia though. She held his hands in hers and as she kissed the palm of his hand, a relieved sigh escaped his lips. He tipped his head and watched her fondly. He was glad he didn’t completely ruin everything for her that she would regret him even though he could never regret her. But if she had he wouldn’t blame her. ”Time.” he confirmed nodding his head slowly. ”Time doesn’t heal but it lessens the memories and with lessened memories, that’s when you can start healing.” he was always told that sometimes it wasn’t even the person you actually missed, it was the memories they helped create. Maybe that was true in her case. Maybe she didn’t necessarily miss him…. Maybe she missed the first experiences she had gotten from him? Maybe it was the sentimental part of it?
The silence that fell between them wasn’t uncomfortable like it should have been. The two of them sitting in the middle of the forest looking at one another until Larkin finally moved. She turned to where her back was against his chest and settled down in between his legs. It would have been better had he something to lean against but he had moved away from his tree and so he began to lean a little on her. She grabbed his arms and pulled them around her and he willingly added in their embrace. Tightening gently around her as he rests his chin on the top of her head. She was warming him. The cold barely even felt despite sitting on the ground. A flood of flutters hit him causing his stomach to tighten and for the time being forget the throbbing he had in his hip. Holding her even if for the last time felt undeniably perfect. ”Of course….” He nuzzled her breathing in her scent quietly that ignited so many things. A sort of addiction only she could fulfill. He sighed quietly against the pale locks of her, blue eyes hidden. Old desires were starting to rise as his mind began to wonder if he could just feel that soft alabaster skin… taste those sweet tantalizing lips one last time. The reality was telling him that doing so would be detrimental to the both of them. Mates don’t crave someone else. He needed to fight against his urges and he knew if he didn’t it wouldn’t make their situation any easier. Giving in never was a good combo. Trying to distract himself from the warming feeling in his body he asked quietly against her ear. ”You thought of any names?”

It was perfect. Being back in his arms again. Feeling his heart thrumming against her back. Those strong arms holding her close. Feeling his breaths dance across her hair. "I missed this..." She all but whispered, curling even closer if it was possible. She sniffled and reveled in the feel of Felix's embrace. She didn't feel the snow or the biting wind. Just Felix in a moment that felt like a dream. She had dreamt of this. Several times. His holding her close again, his chest vibrating as he spoke to her. His voice so close to her ear sent a tingle down her spine. "I....no."
She said softly. She moved slowly as she turned in his arms until she could see his face again where he had loomed near her ear. "Felix-" An internal war was being waged within the little hybrid. She shouldn't. She couldn't. But still, she found herself leaning closer until her lips could brush his neck. She sighed softly, a moment of hesitation and indecision making her pause. He didn't want her. He didn't want her but she wanted him. Why was she doing this to herself? Why torture herself like this?
Because she loved him.
Her lips pressed against his neck then with a soft exhale of breath. Her body turning a bit more so that she could touch him. Her hand moving to his opposite cheek as her lips moved up to his jawline. Her soft breaths getting faster. Blue eyes closing from the bliss of contact. "I'm sorry." She said shakily. Her hand that touched his cheek shaking badly now. She shouldn't do this. It was wrong. He doesn't want you. Her forehead fell weakly against his cheek, the soft sound of her crying again permeating the cold winter air.
"P-please forgive me I'm s-sorry." He had a mate. She shouldn't put him in this situation. But it was impossible for her too. "I s-should go home." She practically hiccuped, she was bad. A bad person. A fool too to get carried away like this just because she loved him. She was a fool to think she could ever mean as much as his mate. But that didn't stop her from wanting to.

The distraction was working at least for now. He could focus on other things than her just being against him and how his body was reacting on its own against her delicate pressure. ”I have too.” he replied. He knew he shouldn’t but there were times he would lay with Lucia and pretend it was Larkin. It was wrong of him and he beat himself up several times about it. It wasn’t right. He had to move on. He couldn’t keep dragging himself back into the past and the both of them had to move on with the future. His future was elsewhere and hers--- she deserved that white knight who could sweep her off her feet. Tall dark and handsome who wasn’t… him. He winced at the thought but lucky for him it didn’t last long. He was now looking at her as she twisted a little in his hold and turned to face him, speaking his name with such a soft and tiny voice. He was about to speak to her but her lips then found their way to his neck.
Tingles were the first thing he felt before his ears started ringing, pulsing heat creeping up the back of his neck as breath caught. What was he doing? What was she doing? How on earth did they get this far this quick? His pulse quickened causing him to feel woozy from a sensation of being pulled to and fro. His hand rose to clasp around her hand that was on the side of his jaw. He wanted to pull her hand away but he couldn’t. Instead, he just held it there with his eyes now looking to lock with hers. Her eyes were fleeting. Ghosting over his before looking away as she trembled with anxiety or with the heat that now filled her little body. He wasn’t sure which it was but as she trembled and shook like a leaf, she apologized and that she should go home.
He didn’t want to let her go and as he held on to her hand his grip tightened a little bit. No words could be uttered from his lips but he was pretty sure his grip would tell her everything she needed to know. Did she really wanna go or was it because she had something going off in his head like he did? Warning signals that said do not continue. Shit storm ahead. Take cover.
His breath went shakily through his nose as eyes stayed on her, he was trying to slow it but it came out in heavy deep puffs like he and ran too hard. That simple touch had broken what he had worked to keep up, the emotions he kept buried and doing his best to conceal had broken through rushing to the surface. Gently tugging her wrist off of his face and moving to the side, he tugged her towards him to where his lips could meet with hers in a firm kiss. ”I want you, Larkin….I have always wanted you.” he whispered against her lips as he just barely hovered over them. He had a mate, he knew that but why was his heart so conflicted on who it belonged to? Why was his heart being so severely tugged towards Larkin? Yet his head says logically he should be with Lucia. ”I shouldn’t have left…” However if she still wanted to leave he wouldn’t stop her. He would let her go if she pulled away but he held onto her his other arm still around her to support her from falling. He shouldn’t have said that this was all going to come back and bite him in the ass but at the present time he wasn’t thinking about that. He pressed his lips to hers to see if she would willingly give it back. Fingers scooting under her sweater just the slightest bit searching for the skin to touch with just the bare tips of his fingers.
