The wind was icy but luckily with his shifted form, the wind barely touched him. His thick shaggy grey coat protected him against the prickly needle sharp wind. Unlike in his other form, he knew his skin would be freezing. He stepped light keeping his ears pricked forward as he walked along the trees. It was quiet almost eerily. The snow compacted all of the sounds that could be coming from the forest and smothers it out leaving nothing but a chilly barren silence. He didn’t mind it though at least not in this form. His long white legs helped him tred through the thickening snow in some parts, large paws spreading wide to keep him from fully sinking in the snow, tail curled ever slightly behind him to keep his balance. He hadn’t meant to be out here that long, however, the job took a little longer than he anticipated. Now he just had to get back to his clothes and head back towards town.
He continued along smelling the scent of people being in the area. It a little old and he didn’t think too much about it. Stepping slow, he lowered his head to be even with his spine as black nose twitched. If he were smart he would avoid the area the scent came from strongest because even if the scent was old they could be making it and still very much around. He didn’t need that kind of attention and so he turned and headed another way.
The trees cracked from the wind as it broke the ice that coated it branches. It was a little distracting and some of the cracks were loud hurting his ears a bit. A nervousness was steadily starting to come to him making him feel that maybe he didn’t quite avoid being seen. Every so often he would turn his head when he thought he heard someone tailing him. Paw hanging in the air as body froze a bit to listen. Nothing but wind. It was what this form did to him. It made him anxious sometimes because this was a terrible time for wolves to be alive. Lowering his paw back to the ground he took a couple more steps.
A sharp pain shot up his leg with a loud snap. A yelp escaped the wolf as he wildly struggled to get free, flipping almost. He started snapping at the iron contraption that now held his paw into place. Blood started to drift from the cut flooding his paw and causing the snow around him to redden.
He started to exhaust himself and eventually caused him to settle. He could probably shift and get it off himself but that would be a risk. The air was cold and he would have no clothing to protect him from the snow that laid beneath him. Aside from that, he could feel he was not alone. Snow started to drift from the sky causing the grey wolf to raise his head slightly. He was awaiting his doom now.
Then there were some steps that caused him to twist his head a bit. Sharp eyes narrowing as lips peeled backward anxiously. He wasn’t sure if he should call out. If whoever it was known he was a werebeast it could end badly. Ears pinned to his skull, his foot throbbing, he awaited whoever it was to come into view. Lux Volkov

Lux hadn't intended to come to Krizala. It hadn't been part of the plan. She was heading home, slowly as to give her body time to heal before she encountered her mother. She didn't want Eriu to see the bruises, the tattered wings. The scars would be hard to hide but with some concealing clothing she might be able to manage it. She had wandered far from her home that she hadn't seen in many years. Just walking, exploring, because she hadn't been able to for so long. Alaska had been kind and let her borrow one of his coats. Her in Krizala it came in handy. The wool held warmth against her skin although it did little for her bare legs. He wings were forced downward by the heavy coat and the tips trailed a few feet behind her like an odd sort of train.
The wind here was biting cold but the scarf and hat he had given her helped with that as well. She was lucky to have encountered him, hopefully, she could again soon when she wasn't as much of a mess. After her bruises were no longer a rainbow marbling to her pale flesh. She felt an unexpected kinship with the dragon, his kindness had made a difference for her when she had stumbled into that courtyard. Disoriented and out of place. And again he had saved her when one of her past owners had tracked her down. She owed him much, perhaps one day she could pay him back for it.
She was somewhat tall and thin. With her head bowed against the wind she didn't see the bloodied wolf until she was nearly upon him. 'Oh no.' Her blue eyes fell to his foot that was held so firmly by the iron jaws of the trap and then back to the wild look in his eyes. A beast trapped. "Its alright.." She said softly. She was afraid of being bitten. An animal in pain was a recipe for disaster. But she wouldn't just let him sit there and die. She knew what it was like to be chained, after all.
"I'm going to help you. Just...don't bite me? Ok?" She slowly knelt down in front of the trap, easily within distance for the wolf to attack if he desired to do so. Slender shaking fingers reached forward to press down on a small lever on each side of the trap. "Here we go." Her voice was timid and soft, her body weak but not as badly as it had been during her captivity. She strained to push down, the effort pulling a grunt from her lips before the trap gradually began to creep open. Only a few inches but enough for the wolf to get free. "Hurry now!" She gasped. She couldn't hold the position long and after a few tense moments the trap would spring shut, with or without the wolf's foot inside.

He is a caged animal at the mercy of whoever it was that approached. His ears laid flat on his skull as he kept stiffened out, tail hang out stiff behind him. His foot hurt but there was absolutely no way to escape this. The figure approached smelled female and soon enough he could hear the soft voice of the woman that caused his ears to only slightly lift from his skull. He wouldn’t bite her at least he didn’t plan to yet. She then seemed to ready herself to grab the iron jaws of the trap and free his foot as she knelt down. She didn’t have much strength that much her could tell from her trembling and before he knew it his foot was free. He quickly pulled his foot out and stepped backward from the trap to ensure he didn’t somehow get snagged again. Dark eyes wandered over the helpful stranger though he wasn’t sure what to make of her. She didn’t smell like a hunter but one couldn’t be too sure of anything these days.
”Why leave a trap if you let your intended go?” he supposed pointing fingers was wrong but it just seemed strange to him. Someone willingly help a wolf? Whether or not she set it down it seemed awful brave to help a beast that could easily tear her apart. Lucky for her though he had no desire in doing so. His foot hurt and the icy surroundings made the wound burn from exposure. Lowering his head he licked at the wound that seared with frosty sensation before lifting his head. ”Thanks though.” he at least could say that much even if it was oddly suspicious. ’This seems like an odd place to be wandering around as a human though. Seems a bit unfavorable.” despite her being wrapped up he couldn’t imagine that the icy air was all that kind to her.

Lux gasp when the iron jaws slammed shut. Barely getting her thin fingers back in time to save them. The wolf was free now though and Lux sat back on her butt, her breathing a little quick as she gathered her strength. But the wolf wasn't leaving. No..instead he was watching her. Studying her even. It was then that a voice rang out in her mind and she tilted her head slightly, still eyeing the beast. He was a were then, no common wolf at all. "I didn't set it." She reasoned with him. Her gaze following his movements as he licked at his wound. "You are welcome." It was nice to be able to help someone, empowering. Even if her arms did feel like limp noodles now.
"I am not human." She could understand his confusion. Her ears were rounded, not like a fae but like an immortal. Her large wings were pinned against her back by the heavy coat giving her an odd hunchback like appearance. "And I didn't intend to wander this far, but I did. It seems like a dangerous place for a wolf to be." She said quietly. Watching him a little more nervously now that she knew him to be humanoid and not just a wolf.
"Are you alright? Did it break it?"

The wolf stood eying her and every so often tenderly checking on his foot. She said she didn’t set it and though he wanted to believe her, he just didn’t. People were always out to skin animals no matter how innocent they appeared and it didn't matter if they were a shifter or not. His ears twitched thoughtfully though, his nose twitching, ”Did you happen to see anyone else when you came this way?” he was trying to avoid them and it would suck if she just led them right to him. If that were the case and she were the innocent part here, he couldn’t help her or himself with an injured paw. Well he could but it would be a tedious job. She then stated she wasn’t human and his amber eyes narrowed for a moment. ”You look human.” He wasn’t necessarily meaning to be rude but she certainly didn’t look animal. ”Or are you meaning you are a hybrid?... fairy?” He tipped his head as he tried to lower his paw to the earth before having shooting pain crank up his leg again.
He needed to get out of this form at least then he wouldn’t be so useless on three legs. He would just have a hand that would be useless to him. She then started to explain she hadn’t meant to wander this way and he chuckled. ”Touche.” He appraised. ”I suppose we both didn’t mean to get swept up in this cold land.” Ears twitched again. He could hear something or someone closing in on them. ”I think we should move.” he said as he attempted to shift his weight. ”There should be a nearby cave…. My clothes are around there.” He had stashed them away so he could do this and travel quicker. ”If you don’t mind...I prefer to get out of this form.” Aside from that being caught out by a possible hunter out here in wolf form and now being injured didn’t sound appealing.
”Yeah. I do believe so. But its okay I am a werebeast and I will heal fairly quick.” turning a bit to start the direction he was in, he would cast a glance over his shoulder at her. It would take a little longer limping but it wasn’t too far away luckily. ”I’m Romeo by the way.” he hated his name and found it to be irritating when people made jokes about it. It was another reason he was hesitant in saying it but she seemed nice. She helped him out without any questions in knowing whether not he was a true animal or not…. So surely she wouldn’t giggle at his name? ”You don’t have to tell me yours.”

Lux shook her head no, ragged blonde locked shifting back and forth with the movement. "No I didn't see anyone." Sadly the topic shifted to her race and Lux frowned. She didn't speak, agreeing or disagreeing with his words. Her gaze fell to the snow in front of him as the silence stretched. Her hybridism was not so easily hidden. Had she at least pointed ears it would have been easy to come across as a fae. Without them, it was pretty obvious that she wasn't a pure blooded anything. But she didn't want to admit that to him. Her hybridism had been used against her for nearly a century. No rights, her kind had no defenses against the brutality of the other races beyond their own capabilities. Lux was obviously not physically strong and her wings were still too weak to hold her weight. If push came to shove she couldn't save herself.
"It seems that way." She replied with the hint of a smile. He had a bit of a sense of humor at least, even with an injured limb. It was better than him lashing out at her to be certain. Lux didn't hear whatever made the wolf's ears twitch. Although she took note of the moments. Always ever watchful of body language of those around her. She nodded slowly. She didn't know who or what the danger might be, but the wolf obviously felt they didn't warrant trusting. And someone that would catch an animal in something as cruel as a bear trap...what would they do to a hybrid worth her weight in gold? "Alright." She said carefully, reluctant to trust a stranger but also unprepared to confront a group of strangers about freeing him from their trap.
He began to walk and after a moment of hesitation, the hybrid would follow. She hadn't ask for his name but he supplied it anyway. Lux didn't even know the fabled story that his name arose from. In her mind it was little more than a nice sounding name. "Lux." She replied simply. Her voice soft. She had no reason to hide her name. It was what she was, the very fabric of her being that needed concealing.

There was a big sense of hesitation when he spoke of race. He wasn’t usually so intruding and he wasn’t entirely sure why the question passed through his usual filter. Her silence though made it loud and clear. He got the message. There were things in his life that he wanted to keep to himself. Some people could be so nosey and he supposed at that very moment, it was him. So finding what he did and far too personal he let it go. He moved fairly slow as the icy wind and bitter snow stung at his wounded paw. The sooner he could get out this form the better so he could then tend to his broken hand. Attempting to do so on all fours was nearly impossible without trying to put weight on it. His ears flipped in her direction as she spoke.
”Lux.” He hadn’t really expected to hear a reply back but he was thankful she was kind enough to do so. Much like his own it was a name you don’t hear often enough however it seemed to suit her somehow even with hardly even knowing her.
The smell of others was fairly strong and he found himself mentally cursing a bit. He didn’t want to deal with hunters or traders just yet. It made him quicken his pace a little bit. ”So do you always make a habit out of helping strange animals who could bite you?” She could have easily gotten herself hurt if she hadn’t been watching what she was doing. What if he had been a rabid animal or something? A real wolf for that matter? Spotting the cave just up ahead he limped on inside and nosed around for his clothes. ”If you don’t mind….” the question lingered in the air between them hoping she would get the hint. ”It will only be for a second.”
If she turned around he would of course quickly change into his human form and get his clothes on before he froze. Winter usually didn’t bother him. He enjoyed the snow and the bitter cold but today he was no in the mood for it.
Once he was able to comfortably be in his human clothes and pulled his boots on to his feet, his voice broke the silence. ”You can turn back around.” It was deep and gruff as he tugged at the material of his boot, stomping it on and tieing them. He did appreciate her finding him. He wasn’t sure how long he would have been able to stay out there caught like that…. Probably not long anyhow if the traders were as close by as they smelled. Now looking at his busted hand he frowned a little. ”Well that sucks.” his hand was black and blue, swollen, and bleeding. The cold surroundings didn’t help with the flesh either. ”Definitely broken, damn hunters.” He couldn’t fully blame them though because the ones who made an honest living out of it by not illegally murdering innocent people weren’t the ones who irritated him.
