With Felix’s kind offer Adrian had crashed at his home near Cendra. It took a bit of cleaning up since it looked like it hadn’t been lived in for a while. But it was dry and warm. Adrian was leaning back in one of the kitchen chairs with his feet propped up on the wooden table. A map strewn across his lap. His fingers followed rivers he had charted. Paths he had traversed. He needed to find a location close to home that he could chart out. He had promised Felix that he would stay close which meant getting a little more inventive with how and where he did his work.
His brows were narrowed in concentration and he sighed softly when one idea didn’t pan out. But there was a sudden boom of the front door being torn from his hinges. Adrian was on his feet in a second, the map fluttering to the floor forgotten. A massive man entered with two companions, he looked like a lion and the prey animal in Adrian very easily detected the danger. A predator in his midst. ”Where is the half breed?” He bellowed as the three moved closer. Effectively trapping the goat and giving him no chance of escape.
They were obviously looking for Felix, and obviously not his friends. Adrian crossed his arms, green eyes locking on their apparent leader. ”Who?” He inquired with a tilt of his skull. His attention fell to their tattooed wrists. All bearing the same mark that Felix did. The business he had escaped appeared to be trying to drag him back in. Or take out vengeance for his escape. ”Do you always break down doors? There was a nob you know? That shiny turny thing?” The lion snarled and lunged. Adrian wasn’t much for brute strength, but he was agile. He twisted his body to avoid the grappling arms, his boots kicking off the wooden floor as he tried to bolt. But one of the other tripped Adrian and sent him sprawling.
The man who appeared to be a wolf was atop him before Adrian could find his feet. A punch met Adrian’s jaw and he happily gave it back. His blow making the wolf rock back in surprise. The lion had caught up at this point, placing one foot on Adrian’s exposed throat he spoke to their third companion. ”Get one of those chairs and some rope. I have a feeling this man isn’t a squatter.”
…
Hours later they had the answers they needed, this man was the half breed’s brother. And Felix was apparently hanging around either Aelfmenn or Niwetri. They would have to send a messenger to both locations, the damn fool would run as soon as he scented them in the air. Adrian was tied to one off the kitchen chairs. His face bloody and bruised from the man blows he had taken. A couple of his fingers appearing broken. The hilt of a dagger sticking from his thigh where the tiny blade still sat. He was breathing heavily, pained sounds slipping past his bloodied lips.
”Now that’s a good boy.” The King said while patting Adrian’s shoulder. ”You should have just told me everything, in the beginning, then I wouldn’t have had to mess up that pretty face of yours.” He patted Adrian’s cheek roughly and plopped down in one of the other chairs. ”Send word to our friend, let him know that we have his brother and that we are getting along just splendidly.” The King let his fingers roll over Adrian’s wrist thoughtfully. After they disposed of Felix it would be satisfying to toss his brother into the trade he had run away from. A trade of sorts. Adrian was handsome enough for it….well….maybe after he healed.
”D..on’t…leave Felix…please…” He was nearly crying, hating himself for being so weak that all it took was some torture to make him spill his guts. Hopefully, Felix wouldn’t come, but Adrian knew he would. He had just signed his brother’s death warrant.

When he headed out, he hadn’t stuck around the city and instead made a near B-line for the place he knew his older brother to be staying at. It had taken him awhile but when he got close it was then the feeling of dread started to grow heavier. His pace was slowed only being greeted by a half-open door. Everything in him said to rush on in and be sure that he was alright but if he had learned anything with his time being a guardian as well as hiding Larkin, it meant things were not as what they always seemed. He needed to be careful, stealthy, and quiet. He paused for a few moments listening and breathing. His sense of smell was telling him this was hours maybe even a day old.
He moved onto the porch. A shaky hand reached for the splintered door and shoved it open and an immediate sense of hot white terror slammed into his chest.
No, this wasn’t happening.
He stared at the very house that his brother had been staying in. There was no question as to what had happened and he didn’t have to be a genius to figure out who had done it. ”Fuck, fuck, fuck.” He could feel his sudden draw for control slipping. His world spinning and all at once he felt completely lost. How was he going to fix this? How was he going to get him back alone. Not that he had any choice because no one else needed to get into this mess he had created on his own. His breathing was hard and not further into the house he turned on his heel and tore back outside. ”Surely the king wasn’t that fucking stupid.”
Getting ready to sprint off two figures were already approaching. ”Well well if it isn't the hybrid himself. We have word from the king.” The hybrid said nothing as he stared at them but since they seemed so smug and full of themselves he let them continue talking as they tossed the paper to the side. Blue eyes remained on them for a moment. Why should he go tracking them down when they could just bring him to the king? ”You are dead.” he said. He didn’t move though not any further than the end of the steps simply attempting to provoke them. ”I’ll be sure of it once I get Adrian back.” It worked. ”you are in the wrong place to be making such bold statements. The king is in control now.” They laughed. ”We’ll see.” Felix charged them but of course miscalculated or so it seemed. He was met with one good blow knocking him off of his feet.. ”Since you are here anyway we might as well take you back ourselves.” The hybrid was sucking in air leaning on the ground with one arm around his stomach as the other shook holding himself up. Both men grabbed him by the arms and yanked him up off the ground and soon pulled him to follow along.
He, of course, had to keep up appearances and struggled but not initially trying to get away. He got a few punches here and there and both laughing at how tamed he suddenly seemed to be taunting him at how he lost his touch. Dragging in him into the place where the king and Adrian were the pushed him and made him drop to his knees. He went willingly, playing the part of the beat up fool rather precisely. He kept his head down in fake submission, his blue eyes on the ground appearing defeated. ”Lookie who we found.” they announced almost proudly. The king seemed appeased at them subduing him though he was not nearly as pristine as he would have liked. He wanted a challenge after all.
”This is between you and me and the boss. Not Adrian. Let him go.” He said quietly his voice cracking. ”I’ll do as you ask but he goes free first.” He stole a glance towards his brother. An immediate shift was being made. He could feel the wolf breathing beneath his skin. He wasn’t going to fight him not this time. This time he was going to leave that squeaky iron door for the beast to come out of his own free will. The wolf may very well be the key out of here. He breathed slowly through his nose as he kept his head down but completely focused attempting to not let the King see what was happening right before his eyes. The king advanced on him, stepping proudly. ”now where would the fun in that be, Felix? Is that really all you got? You aren’t going to give me any fight!” he wasn’t pleased by this turnaround and he knew that something about this equation didn’t add up. ”You have made a mess of things and now suddenly just like that you are giving up? That’s not the Felix we all know.”
He edged in closer keeping his eyes trained on the hybrid who simply kept his head down. ”You are up to something.” he stated. Felix shook his head. ”I’m tired of running. I’m done.” he shifted a little bit on his knees so he can look up at him. The wolf was surging in his bones. He could feel the charge steadily taking place. He wanted blood…. But he hoped he just stopped at the king and his goons and not go for his brother too. The king eyed him for a moment staring thoughtfully almost as he now stood in front of him. ”Tired, huh.” he said quietly.
Without warning, he pulled his foot back and kicked Felix right in the face before he was atop him, hands on his throat as he stared down at him. ”I don’t believe you.” He roared.
Felix sputtered. His vision going black around the edges as he blinked repeatedly to clear his vision, a strangled gasp leaving his throat. The king allowed his lion's claws to come and take place the very sharp tips sinking into the skin of Felix’s neck. He could see very well the blow to his face having disoriented him leaving his head spinning. A sudden fear started to grip him and with a fighter’s instinct to make him grab at the king to get him off. He squirmed and pushed, strangled snarled escaping him as he tried to gasp for air. ”Hold the brother and make sure he is watching. I want him to see this.” OOC: Control or do whatever. I don't care lol.

Adrian was in pain. The knife in his leg, the swelling of his eye socket. All of it. He just wanted to sleep but couldn't manage to do so with the searing hot pain of a knife in his flesh. His dark brown hair fell forward to stick to his forehead which was soaked with sweat despite the cold. Run Felix...
It was a short time later that a scuffle outside could be heard and eventually the two men came inside dragging his brother. Adrian's stomach clenched painfully seeing his younger sibling beating so. A growl rising in his throat. But before he could snap at his escorts Felix was speaking, as was the king. Let him go?? Did Felix honestly think Adrian would leave him here alone to deal with these assholes? "I'm not leaving you here!" Adrian snapped, the King continuing to speak as if he hadn't even heard him.
And then things took a turn. Suddenly his brother took a hard kick to the face and that bastard lion had his hands around Felix's throat. "Stop!" He yelled and struggled against his restraints. "Felix! Don't give up! I'm here!" He struggled harder, one of the two men grabbed his head to hold him steady and keep him from looking away. No no no. He wasn't going to let this happen. A sound much akin to the roar of a bear tore from the man as he struggled against his restraints. Closing his eyes he forced himself to shift. He knew it would hurt. Knew the blade in his leg would likely tear through tissue. But he had no options. He wasn't willing to let him die.
The king was still squeezing Felix's throat. His claws digging deep into the tender flesh. Adrian shifted and managed to slip from his restraints. He flinched and kicked his rear leg until the blade fell away. The two goons were upon him in an instant but not before Adrian could run forward and aim one well-placed ram into the small of the kings back. Sending both him and his brother toppling as the two beasts set upon him. He could feel claws tearing into his furry back and reared his head back so that his small horns could catch one in the face, a single horn going deep into the mans eye and stilling his body instantly. "Felix! We need to run!!" He yelled to his brother telepathically. Struggling from beneath the other man whose form was rapidly shifting into a massive bear.

Felix was doing his best to see from the blow to the face and then now being strangled. The claws seared into the skin and he could feel the warm blood dripping from the cuts the claws made as they sink deeper into his neck from being squeezed. He couldn’t breathe no matter how much he tried to gasp for the sweet relief of air. His mind briefly started to flip through faces of the important people he had met and who made an impact on him to want to be a better person….. Yet here he was failing them yet again. His fingers dug at the wrists of the King trying to get him off. Even the wolf didn’t have enough strength to give Felix that extra shove. He could feel him swaying almost as the lack of oxygen was allowed to flow through his body. His attempts started to become feeble before he stopped all together hanging almost loosely in the King’s grip.
The black shadows were now engulfing in his strained vision and right as he was on the verge of passing out into the sweet embrace of darkness the hold on his throat was gone. His body flung forwards as he forced fresh air into his lungs, leaning on his arms. He coughed and gagged, gasping for air as he tried to clear his foggy brain. Glancing up now attempting to figure what had happened he spotted Adrian in fuzzy goat form now being swallowed by the two other kings goons. A snarl ripped from his burning throat as Adrian was screaming at him. Instantaneously his form shifted into the large black beast he had worked so hard to keep at bay. Piercing yellow eyes molting over blue as he bolted from his laying position with precision and speed. He had no idea where the king was but he knew one thing and it was to get the bear off his brother. Slamming his wolf into the bear making him falter and sidestep before the massive animal used a large paw to swipe at him. The black wolf’s fangs flashed and snapped, clamping on air before finally grabbing the grizzly by the arm. The large bear lifted onto his hind legs and tried to wiggle the wolf off as he hung loosely in the air, his back paws just barely scraping the ground.
Eventually, he was flung and the bear went to try and cease the goat again. Sliding on the ground he got right back up and was now lunging at the bear again only to be crossed with a golden lion. The lions form slammed into Felix’s which had him once more flat on the earth. He gasped as the wind was knocked out of and before he could get up the large beast was atop him grabbing him by the scruff with a rough shake and then flinging him again. He landed wrong on his hip and felt something sharp slide into his skin. He could feel the smack of bone crunch causing him to emit a loud sharp yelp as he felt warm fluid. Having no time to figure out what had cut him, The lion was back on him ripping into him but not without Felix pushing and shoving. It was a wrestle of the two beasts, one on top of the other. Scraping his back claws against the lion's underbelly he eventually got the upper hand and pushed him off. He had the chance. He scrambled to his feet painfully and gripped the lion by the neck pressing down hard while fangs sunk in deep and then he heard it. the right snap that made the lion go limp in his jaws.
Once the king had been slain the bear had taken immediate noticed and backed off. He was the only one alive and this would be no good for him. Charging in his way through he made way for an escape.
The wolf felt fuzzy brained as he stood on his three paws. His hind leg held up barely putting any weight on it. He was beginning to sway as he turned to face towards his brother. He was covered in blood looking like a rabid mutt as he stood a little woozy. His fangs remained exposed dripping with blood mixed saliva as the growls that came from his parted jaws were pained but menacing at the very man he risked his life to save.

Adrian was no predator. He didn't have the sharp teeth or the claws. And so when the bear pummeled him all he could do was try to stand. Impossible when he wasn't strong enough to lift the massive beast. He felt the hot breath on his neck and a moment later the back of his neck was enveloped in warmth. It was an eerie calm to know that his death was upon him and there was literally nothing he could do to stop it. A disgruntled snort sounded as the jaws clamped down. His eyes slamming shut. But before the bear could twist his head in a way that would easily snap the goat's neck he was flung away. The weight on his back and teeth in his neck suddenly gone.
Adrian stumbled to his hooves, nearly losing his footing as he watched his brother battle with the bear. And then the lion. It all happened so quickly and the worst part was that there was nothing he could do. He couldn't be of any use. For the first time since his youth, he truly hated what he was. Had he been a wolf then he could have helped his brother. Could have done more than watch. The lion fell still and Adrian turned to see the bear beating a quick escape. Felix was hurt. The way he had landed Adrian was certain he had broken either his leg or hip. Thankfully he didn't give chase.
"You did it!" He said telepathically. He was beaten and bloodied. The stab wound in his thigh made him hold his leg a little strange and the powerful bite around his neck left fresh blood running through his silvery coarse hair. "Felix?" The wolf...had it taken over. "Are you alright?" Adrian stepped over to where his brother stood, his hooves making soft clicks on the wooden floor. He watched the wolf carefully. Unsure if it was just Felix in a lot of pain or the beast he tried so hard to control.
"Speak to me brother..."

His body stood rigid as muscles worked in all three legs to keep him upright. Yellow eyes trained on the goat's movements while his nose twitched with the sweet smell of his brother's blood. An insatiable hunger was sitting in the pit of his stomach as it clenched and churned just as angry as the ocean in a storm. Growls silenced just enough for him to hear the muffled sound of his brother's voice and everything in his head said ‘this was not the enemy’. He couldn’t get lost in this menacing anger that wanted to rule him. Even so, the wolf went against his calming chants in his head. He purred his satisfaction of feasting on the already bleeding tender flesh of the goat. He’s weakened he whispered. It would be so easy. The words were taunting in his head, overriding the simple words of his brother that beckoned him to answer. His body swayed as he stared with a distant hollow gaze, ears twitching when he heard his hooves approach.
He needed to snap out of it. He needed to come back to reality.
The next set of words caused his lips to lower over teeth almost rocking back and forth on his paws willing himself the bit of momentum to get to his brother and latch on like a leech and suck his blood dry. As he gave one final shove forward, it was clumsy nearly forcing him to land on the ground causing a sharp whine to escape his jaws. ”A gift wrapped goat..” he said lowly. ”Slathered in blood... my favorite.” He chuckled to himself though he allowed himself to finally lower to the ground resting on his belly as he stared. ”Need me to finish the rest of the bite?” He crooned. His tail twitched behind him as nose still twitched. Muscles itched beneath his dark coat wanting to move but not having the capability. ”Since Felix can’t come to the surface right now… He’s busy.” He sounded almost charming tipping his head a bit as keen predator eyes stayed on him. ”So let’s chat.” He knew he wouldn’t have long the human emotions would force their way back in again but as long as he was in this form, he had more control. His front paws were placed neatly under him ready to lift his body forward at a moment notice he just needed to get him closer now that he had a useless hip.

Adrian could see that his brother likely had a broken hip. Even if the wolf was in control as long as he stayed out of the range he could lunge while sedentary he should be alright. Or at least able to react soon enough to get out of the way. The goats head twisted to the side when he brother began to convey a message back. Only...it wasn't his brother. The tone was different. The words dripping with malice. It didn't take Adrian long to understand that this was the wolf he had heard about for so many years and yet never had the chance to speak with. Felix hid him away as best as he could. Especially around Adrian. Likely afraid he couldn't handle the predator. But for now, the wolf was crippled, vulnerable, and chatty.
"A crippled mouthy wolf, my favorite too. Good thing I'm accustomed to a predator trying to throw his weight around." His head dipped in a slight nod when the wolf said Felix couldn't come to the surface. He expected as much. "Of course. Seems like we've known one another quite a while but never met." The goats tiny fluffy tail flicked much like that of a lamb. "Tell me then, what is it that plagues you that was so important that you needed to take control of my brother?"

Laying on his stomach on the ground, his tail twitched behind him again listening as the goat dared to speak against him. He chuckled and scooted a little on the floor before stopping and settling. ”Does hiding behind humor help you feel witty?” he asked curiously. He will see how far that humor will get him once he was finishing what the bear couldn’t. His claws dug into the wood a bit making a scratching digging noise. The move seemed a little more feline than canine but he really just wanted to dig into something. The goat was speaking again, ears twitching as he listened calmly. ”Let's see how brave you are when you get a little closer.” he enticed. Sure he could talk a big game but how would he handle actually being toe to toe with him? That would be a sight to see!
”That’s right. We haven’t officially gotten to meet. How sad.” he almost sounded thoughtful. The position he was laying in was causing pain so he shifted again. ”Your brother doesn’t seem to like to share his most prized person.” He eyed him a moment. ”I wonder why seems to me there is plenty of you to go around.” His pink tongue slipped over his jaws thinking about the tender flesh. ”Nothing has to plague me to make me want to control.” it was simple to him really. ”Wouldn’t you want out too if you were locked away for so long?” His head tipped to the side looking fairly innocent and uncharacteristically calm. ”No one deserves to be locked away.” he trying to tug on the goat's emotions. Maybe get him to let his guard down. If he did that maybe he would get closer or perhaps wolf could. ”Not sure why I need to be the locked away anyway. He can’t control himself.” he tipped his nose up and allowed his eyes to move off of the goat since the first time of letting him in on who he was.

The goats silvery head bobbed to the side curiously as the wolf spoke to him. Had he been in his human form he would have grinned. "And what am I hiding from? Pray tell? A three legged wolf?" He watched the wolf pull himself a bit closer in an action that reminded him of a cat stretching but instead of rising to the goading Adrian took a couple steps back a good natured chuckle flickering in the other beasts mind. "I never said I was brave."
He full on laughed as the wolf continued on. "Wow, was that a fat joke? I know I'm a little fluffy but damn." His head bobbed in response to the wolf's words. "Yes I would want to be free, but you are wrong that no one deserves to be locked away. There are many that deserve it. Yourself included." Adrian's marbled eyes stared down at the wolf unflinchingly. He was aware of the distance between them. The wolf's injuries. From his reasoning, he was in no real danger. Not while the wolf was injured so badly.
Adrian wanted to speak out against this beat that shared his brother's mind, to tell him to not even speak his brother's name. But he didn't. It would serve no purpose other than to make him feel better. "And you wolf? Doesn't he keep you locked away most of the time? What does that say about you? You are weak against my brother, and you know it. Its why you are so desperate for these scraps of attention you can garner. These shreds of time you can steal. But they are fading, aren't they? Further and futher apart than they used to be?"

The canine was almost giddy with excitement. He could feel it coursing through his veins finding it a little hard to settle in one place on the ground. His claws needed at the ground below them and every so often he was scooting forwards. The goat though seemed to be picking up on that. He was indeed trying to close the distance between them. Being rendered useless because of his hip was throwing a wrench in his idea of finally getting to meet dear ol brother. ”Fear. Worry. Concern.” He rambled off a few words he knew those who ‘cared’ for the human would feel. ”Humor is a gift to those who don’t know how to handle uncomfortable situations.” Had he been in a human form he would have been giving a sly grin but since he wasn’t he allowed it to be felt within his words. ”and you can’t tell me you don’t feel it. Any good brother would even if he was the one who had helped create this tiny problem.” his ears pricked forward again feeling a little smug as if he had released some big deep dark secret. The devilish canine was yet again attempting to tug on the goat's emotions. He was attempting to mess with his head. ”Bet that was something he didn’t tell you. hm?” His head tipped towards the side. ”Leaving him alone. Abandoning him for so long. You shouldn’t have come back… giving him such false hope like that. You are as bad as Eriu. At least Farkas stays consistent.”
As Adrian spoke once more, he chuckled. ”Perhaps it was.” But he wasn’t entirely the joking type. He was the type that did work and got it done. ”I just don’t see why he keeps letting himself feel the distance when I could simply take care of it for him.. Perhaps he likes torturing himself?” He wanted Adrian to feel bad. He wanted to get under that goat's skin and allow him to willingly put his neck in his mouth so he could snap it. Devilish and tempting. Why work harder when they could do it for you? ”Might even do him some good to get rid of you… do himself a favor and let me take over.” His lips drew back as he flashed his teeth in a wolf’s attempt to grin. As he started speaking again his ears remained facing forward. He was right about that. Felix was getting better at keeping him at bay. He didn’t as often get to take over as he used to. In fact Felix, for the most part, kept him faded back until the situation got too stressful…. Until the anger got to be too much. ”No.” he answered. ”I control more he just happens to stay away from you and others when he feels I am near. He takes the fun out of everything.” It was a lie but he wouldn’t let the goat know that. He held no power here. He didn’t know what Felix did or didn’t do when he wasn’t around. ”He even ran off of the very thing that kept him so stabilized.” he snickered. The little rabbit, Larkin. She had made it so he was in such a calm state all the time that it somehow taught him to keep the wolf at bay. However, now that she was gone and out of the picture all he had to do was show Felix he was keeping the inevitable from happening. ”He chose the mate instead of the real help. He surely is stupid. If I can help him get rid of her… You, Lucia, and Eriu should be no problem.”

Guilt. It settled in his chest like a stone. But Adrian schooled his features to keep them smooth. He didn't wish to reveal the turmoil he felt over his travels and the effect they had on his brother. That was something for him and Felix to handle. Not this bastard. "Its not false hope wolf. Don't worry, I'll be here to put you back in line whenever you get a little too frisky." As the wolf's words continued the goat scoffed. "I'm well aware I failed my brother, but I know him well enough to know he wouldn't want me dead. You just want me out of the way. Which isn't going to happen anytime soon." Again the wolf goaded him and the goat wished he could smirk. He knew his brother had been trying to decide between the women. The wolf had nothing to do with it. The beast was grasping at straws now. His desperation obvious to the older man.
The goat sighed and slowly lowered his head. The movement came quickly. A sudden lunge toward his brother that would hopefully knock the heavy bone of his skull into his brothers and knock the wolf unconscious. He had plans to get him to a healer, but he had to get the wolf under control first.

He continued to eye the goat seeing any sign of affliction to what he was saying but there was none or if there was he was good at hiding it. So he persisted with his words trying to break down the goat's walls. ”Oh yeah? I won’t be crippled forever, goat.” he sneered ears fastening to his skull as tail tapped the ground a little irritated. Did this goat really think he could put him in his place? He wasn’t weak like his brother he couldn’t be schooled like an insignificant human. He said him getting out of the way wouldn’t happen anytime soon and that Felix didn’t want him out of the way. Well, of course, he didn’t. If anything Adrian was the biggest pain in his ass aside from that little rabbit.
Little did he realize what the goat was doing was gearing up for a charge and had he paid as good enough attention as he thought he was, he would have been ready for it. However busy with scooting closer, checking for signs of distress, and concentrating on his words the charge from the goat was a complete surprise. Once the harsh contact had been made he was done. The wolf saw instant black and before he knew it he went limp on the ground.
