The mage had found herself itching to wander more and more since she had shifted into this form. She was quite disinclined to change back, truthfully. A week of consistent practice had left her slightly stronger than before and at least making manageable landings. But there was nothing that could match the glory of flight. This new body was made to cavort through the air, and she took much more time outside of her workroom to do so than she ever had bothered to take before. Some part of her knew that she needed to figure out how to shift back into her given form, but this reptilian, almost feline shape pleased her greatly.
Shimmer slid through the skies playfully, slipping from side to side, high above tree-height. So high that she couldn't make out the details below, and hopefully, nobody could see her. She had no wish to encounter a hunter of dragons today. Indeed, her intentions, for once, were rather peaceful. There was a small, mainly unused lake that sat on the border of the Dryghtwood and the Sakari wilds. It was nearby, though she wasn't quite sure where. Keen eyes searched for the gleam of water, and not long after, found it.
Silver and black wings tilted, sending the colorful dragon into a shallow dive, and as she came lower to the ground, murmured softly a spell that would render her nearly impossible to see. Better to be safe than sorry so far as being seen went. The camouflage dropped as she came below tree-height, flaring her wings open and touching down into the water itself. The coolness felt good against the constant heat of her body. She had still not grown used to running at such a high temperature. But it made it easy to stay warm, at least, though it felt like a fire in her belly.
Gently, the dragoness settled into the water, stretched along the bottom of the small lake until she was completely immersed. Except for her head. Her head was only partly immersed in the water, eyes, horns and nostrils above it like a crocodile. The black of her scales stood out against the light of the day, but as they faded to purple and then blue, they blended into the water neatly. Around her left eye was a bright silver mark, spikes, one of them like a tear-streak down her jaw, the others accenting it. This was shimmering in the light.
She thought nothing of it, and leaving one eye cracked so as to keep an eye upon what was going on, began to relax fully into the water. In a bit she would swim and hunt.
