The clouds were darkening by the minute as the wind blew with ferocity. He had given Larkin his jacket to protect her far fragile frame against the monstrous winds he was sure that would chill her to the bone. Better her warm than him in his opinion. Though she was safely tucked away in an abandoned ranch they had found hours before. She had been left with the task of feeding the fire in the fire pit on the inside of the house while he went to go get more wood. Luckily he wasn’t cold and hungry. The two of them had stopped a short while ago at one of the cities stalls and got something to eat. This time around unlike their cabin the woods they were much closer to the city with far more access to resources and people. It was less obvious in his opinion as the guardians who were tracking him would likely suspect he would keep to hiding in secluded areas…. And he would be if he didn’t know they knew that.
His skin was turning pale in color against the chilly wind as his lips were steadily turning a small light shade of bluish purple. He was cold, very cold, but until the ranch had warmed he refused to take the jacket from Larkin. Besides if he paid no mind to it he couldn’t feel it as much until the wind blew hard enough against him making him feel like he had ice needles sticking in his arms. He headed towards the back door which had been the only possible way in and stepped inside shutting it tight behind him. Glancing back out the window for a moment he moved towards the living quarter where he had left Larkin. ”Temperature feels like it dropped with the wind blowing.” he gave a bit of a shudder as arms stiffly let the wood drop into place. ”You regret your decision yet?” it was said with a light laugh though he was partially serious. He didn’t like the idea of her staying in the castle, no, but it was better than living life on the run until they could find a place to actually call home and of course until he could finally be done with the guardian chasing him.
They weren’t too far from Cendra anyways so there was always the possibility he could turn back and take her there if she chose this was an utter mistake. ”We aren’t too far away, you know.” He leaned against one of the window sills allowing the heat of the fire to bask over him and warm his chilled skin. It was taking a little bit but the fire was slowly starting to allow the coloration to come back. ”I’m just not sure when we will actually be done with this.” He felt pretty hopeless.
