Appearance:

Standing at five foot seven inches tall, Tristan looks like any other normal human would. He has skin that is tanned from working in the sunlight, and long wild brown hair. His hair reaches his shoulders with ease as he doesn’t often cut it. The man sports a scruffy face as well, however he doesn’t have a full blown beard or anything. His eyes are a warm shade of coffee brown as well. However, despite how human he appears, the man who looks as if he is in his twenties isn’t human. The scars that cover his body show the world the many fights he has been a part of. With the most noticeable ones on his back. These he doesn’t try to hide, can’t really do anything about them so why bother.

The man is a merman, when his low half gets wet his legs turn into fins dark grey in color. They look a lot like that of a shark or even a dolphin. It aren’t completely grey though as there is a hint of a blue sheen to his tail as well. Along his tail he has a few scars, mostly around the base of his tail at the fin area. Looks like something caught on it at one point. Which is true something did.

What happens when you mix a prince and a pirate’s lifestyle? You get a proud young man, who still has a bit of growing up to do. Tristan is a young man who has a bit of an ego, but does listen to orders. However, he is also quick to give orders as well making so he is often pushing the buttons of others. He comes off as pushy and bossy, but he doesn’t see it as such. A silver tongued man with a charming smile. He enjoys life for the adventures it has to offer, and for all the good times as well. A flirt who isn’t against flirting with both genders as he believes love has no gender. A bit cocky he does need to be reminded to come down to earth every now and again though. However, he isn’t all trouble. He doesn’t really have a temper and is rather level headed in a fight. Being serious almost to the point of stoic at times when he is really focused. He is an ambitious fellow, and stubborn when he sets his mind to something. Yet he is still a greedy mer royal. He seeks his glory, fortune and holds a grudge. Still he works hard to get what he wants and doesn’t always expect others to do the dirty work for him.

Born at the tail end of the war as Prince Tristan Sterling Meris. A name the young man doesn’t really hate, but would use less and less as time went on later in his life. For the first twenty years of his life he grow up to be a brave young fellow. One who looked up to his family, and respected the orders given to him. However, being that he had been looking forward to being able to fight within the war so that he could help his people protect their seas when the treaty happened he felt betrayed. Why wasn’t he allowed to find his glory like the rest of his family?

Over time this was something he learned, but the rebellion that battled within his very being had been a troubling sight to behold. Perhaps that was why he was sent away from the kingdom to sail with the royal ships as they patrolled the waters. This was around the age of seventy when this happened. At first he enjoyed the adventure. Helping tax others for their riches and fattening the pockets of the Merfolk. Sailing around meeting new people. Making friends as well as making enemies. It was around six years after he started sailing with the royal navy that they tried to tax a ship that turned out to be a mistake. It had been a pirate ship that end the end of a long battle ended up with Tristan being kidnapped. He was dragged onto the pirate ship and taken to an unknown island.

The Captain of the ship called The Haunted Dawn had planned to ransom the Prince, but Tristan pushed the wrong buttons. Instead he was whipped for having a mouth on him and his legs were tied by rope attached to a rock. Thrown into the sea the captain had wanted him to down. Had he not known he was a Merman? Or perhaps he had been blinded by rage that his judgment had been odd. Tristan was able to change into her merman form and escape the drowning. However, he didn’t have a clue where he was. That and he had a nasty wound on his tail from the rope.

Somehow he found his way to the shore on the edge of the Realm of Mir. Hurt and alone he just laid there on the shore until he passed out. He woke up in the bed of an old woman's house. He got luck, she turned out to be a Mermaid, who just happened to be outside and spotted him. He stayed with her for three weeks. At the end of the three weeks he was much better, and really had no plans on leaving, but somehow his father had found out where he was and sent the new Captain of the ship he had been on when kidnapped to go fetch him.

Being taken back to the Merfolk Kingdom was bittersweet for him. He had enjoyed the freedom he had found, and even though he had been poorly treated he still had a blast listening to stories on board The Haunted Dawn. That and he felt the ship’s captain and himself had a score to settle.

So after he had fully recovered he set out to get his revenge. Without a real clue where to find the man Tristan jumped from ship to ship. Moving from the crew of one pirate ship to another after a couple of months with one. However as his father hadn’t been too pleased with the idea Tristan started to go by the name of Tristan Valentine. It was more fun that way for him. Not only could he hopefully find the Captain whose ship seem to have just poofed, and he could have more fun. Being a board the Royal Navy Ships had been okay, but they were so formal and so much of a drag.
