She had managed to sneak away and took a deep breath. Pressing a hand to her stomach she let her eyes close and the breeze brush over her face. It felt so good and she was grateful for it and the chance to feel it alone and by herself. Letting out a slow breath and then after just a moment, she opened her eyes and looked out over the gardens. It made her want to be out and away...her and Barney just riding through the wind and the feeling it on her face as they just rode away from it all. Tonight though, it wasn't even an option, no matter how much she might have wished that it could have been. Walking slowly through the gardens, Rhi just enjoyed having the silence and the peace that came with getting away from the ball and the people. She was happy about meeting the people and making the connections that she wanted and the ones that her father didn't think were necessary but even with her brothers here...she felt alone. How funny was that revelation? Here she was, a princess in the middle of a beautiful ball and surrounded by all these people and she never felt more alone in her life. Walking along she brushed her fingers over a bush that she passed and wondered if she could seriously make it to the stables and get away on Barney without anyone noticing her. Turning her head at a sound she caught sight of the guards taking up their places along the balcony to watch over the gardens and of course...her. No.....she couldn't get to the barn unnoticed and that would honestly only earn her a more severe lashing and verbal attack from her father. Pausing at the fountain in the middle, she watched the water as he flowed up and all over the stone fixtures. Turning to find the bench, Rhiannon sat down on it and just watched the water and the garden around her. There was no way that she would be able to stay out here on her own for long but oh.....how she wished she would be able to. At least then...the choice to be alone could be hers rather than one imposed upon her. Killian Cruz

[attr="class","biggieno"] [attr="class","textieno"]He wanted to look for her. The scent that had been on Felix was undeniably one of death. He knew it and he knew the wolf knew he knew it. His heart ached at the thought of the misplaced and possibly dead Lucia and it was one of the many causes that made him leave the workers quarters. How could he sleep knowing she was missing? Knowing that that murder knew exactly where she was? He wasn't perhaps ballsy enough to demand Felix tell him. The wolf was violent and not many were daring enough to deal with the dark beast hidden in the hybrid. If only he knew more about his past, if only he knew who he could talk to that had a way with Mr. Cairo. Family? Surely someone out there knew something.[break]
Tonight, however, was one of which he knew a ball was going on and so this meant that people would be there. People who may be able to help him or maybe --..... No. The young man was dressed far nicer than his usual attire. He looked rather striking in his casual fancy clothes with a dark touch to them. He dreaded things like this as this wasn't his first rodeo. Balls were something he often attended to with clients. He was a favorite among his workers primarily because he used real emotion and not one that stunk of fake promises. He made his clients feel real. It also was an added bonus that sometimes friendships came out of them. The room though was beginning to feel stuffy and he was quick to make a hasty exit to the gardens. The night air was cool but still, he felt a sort of sadness that followed him like a shadow. Lucia would have loved to come even if it were to cause trouble. He missed his companion. He missed her dearly and he worried for her.[break]
As he continued along there was a smell that mixed with the flowers of the garden. It was one he recognized. Following the scent, he spotted the very girl he remembered running into a time earlier. What was her name again? Oh... Right. "Well well well, Princess Rhiannon." His voice came out from the shadows one she would likely recognize as it echoed for quite some time in her head nights before. However, instead of meeting her face to face as a panther, he stood before her in all his human glory. Moving towards her he swept close with charm, giving her a bow though keeping his eyes directly on hers. A grin never left his lips as he continued to watch her. "Remember little old me?"

Alone in the middle of a crowd | Rhiannon was pushing her father's boundaries more and more...she knew it and truth be told, she didn't give a fuck. She wanted a life, friends, connections, and not to be under his thumb. Part of her felt like it shouldn't matter because she didn't matter to him seeing as that she was girl and not the one that would be the heir to his kingdom. Crossing her legs, she smoothed the dress over them and sighed softly. There were times that even she...with her rebelliousness and wall of attitude wondered if her father would even notice if she disappeared...or worse, would he even care.
Hearing the voice, Rhi turned her head and couldn't help the smile that crossed her lips. She knew that voice..."I don't remember telling you that I was Princess Rhiannon." Uncrossing her legs she rose up and met his bow with a small curtsey of her own. He wasn't royal or someone of title and her parents would have rolled over for her doing that to someone that was simple a commoner and a were too boot. No she offered it to him because in truth...she liked him and hoped that they would continue to talk and develop a friendship. Reaching out she brushed a finger over a piece of his hair that fell when he bowed. "Your hair....it's the color of your fur."
Lowering her hand she sat down on the bench and scooted over before motioning her hand for him to join her. "Is it....would it be wrong or even....weird if I told you that I'm really happy to see you here?" Her eyes turned back to look at the fountain and watched it for a moment. "I was just sitting here thinking about how it's probably the stupidest thing...a princess feeling totally alone in the middle of the ball." She was probably the poster child of stereotypical things right now. Looking back at him she offered him a small smile, "So...who are you here with tonight? I don't recall seeing you out on the dance floor earlier."
Shrugging a little, "Then again..i've been dancing with people that can help me piss off my father and at the same time, help me avoid him like the plague."

[attr="class","biggieno"] [attr="class","textieno"]Her grin was promising. That meant he wasn't going to be shooed off and he would be welcomed here for a time. As she spoke he grinned innocently. "Ah so you are! Lucky guess." He jutted out his chin playfully as he bowed before her. Sweeping down in a gracious and ever elegantly poised manner. See you could dress up a wild jungle cat and it could be on its best behavior. However, the jungle cat was a wild one and the stuffy air of a ball would only be lasting so long.[break]
He purred loudly and proudly as she swept a piece of his hair that had fallen out of place. It had to be his favorite thing about being with another person. Touch. It made him feel good especially when he liked the person well enough. As far as Rhiannon went he liked her and that meant her touching was more than welcome. "What you think it would be?" he asked curiously as he straightened his posture a bit, tipping his head to the side as he stared down at her. Every now and then his hair would be lighter in shade or if one of the other girls get creative with chemicals and frost it but other than that his hair was an incredibly dark brown. As she sunk back down onto the bench he followed suit after her, sliding over onto the bench and sitting back as he stretched out his long legs resting his feet on the back of his heels. HIs hands hung loosely in between his parted legs as his posture went very relaxed. He listened as she spoke and quiet he gave her a sideways look. "It's not stupid. I am with people all day long and I still feel alone." His mind wandered back to Lucia. He felt really alone without his cat-companion. Though true he had a rabbit there for awhile before Felix stole her away. The cat's fur bristled at the thought of Felix. That lousy murderer. He had something to do with it even if he couldn't prove it. Death, the smell of it was all over him. HIs eyes shifted from her not trying to get lost in his own thoughts but he was steadily heading that way before she spoke up again. "Lone wolf--er.. cat." he said. "I sadly have no one to parade me around this fair evening." He gave a shrug of his shoulders. "It's okay though. Just means I can be on the prowl for those unsuspecting victims." He gave a small growl the mimicked his panther.[break]
He chuckled quietly as he let his head drop backward, staring up now at the night sky. It was beautiful. He could admire the stars there was something about them that was so freeing especially since his freedom wasn't technically his own. "So how is pissing off dear old dad doing for you?"

Alone in the middle of a crowd | Shrugging softly she looked back at him. "Honestly, I'm not quite sure. It thought maybe it would be different a little....well....sorta different. You know, to throw people off. Have your hair be maybe lighter than your fur to help people so they can't see the connection." She smiled a bit and leaned into him, nudging him gently with her shoulder. "You know, outside of my brothers....you are the first real friendly face I've seen all night." Looking up at the sky she watched the sky and the stars. "It's funny how they are all the same...no matter where you go or what region you're a part of...we're all under the same stars."
Laughing softly, Rhiannon grinned. "Quite well, actually. I caught the look on his face when I selected my partner to start the dance and I'm in for quite the lecture once the ball ends." Turning to look at him, she shifted so that she was facing him full on, "Do you know he had the nerve to actually tell him 'not to disappoint him with the man that I selected for it'." A soft sound of disgust escaped from her. "Meaning, don't dance with anyone that isn't a wealthy mortal of power and prestige. No fae or were or any other beings that aren't human." Rolling her eyes before she continued. "The man I chose, Ea. A Master Fire from Lledrith School. He said he had heard of me...the rebellious human princess. I hadn't realized that I had a reputation."
Raising an eyebrow at him, Rhi turned her head to look at him, "Had you heard about me too before we met on that night? Or were you able to just put two and two together?" She was curious now, about who knew about her rebellious nature against her father and how much she disliked him. Did her father know or hear of what others seemed to have known about. Hearing him say that he hadn't arrived with anyone to parade him around tonight, she smiled softly.
Turning her head she looked over at him when she heard the sounds of a soft waltz starting. "Well....for this dance....you do." Standing up, she reached over and gently pulled him up on his feet before taking his arms in a dance. "Come...dance with me for this one. Right here....where we don't have to worry about all the eyes on us."

[attr="class","biggieno"] [attr="class","textieno"]He swayed a little with her nudge and he allowed a small smile to come to his lips. ”I try to be friendly at least. Glad to know it’s working.” He nudged her back. ”As far as my hair it does lighten up when we are at the peak of summer it gets a little more reddish brown. However not all were’s hair match their animals fur. Like I know a wolf who as a human is dark blonde and as a wolf he is black furred. Even his eyes change color from his wolf form to his wolf.” It just depended on the were -animal he supposed. All of them were different just like all of them tended to have a difference in breeding. A leopard could be with a bird so on and so forth. Even a pair of the same such as wolves could birth different types of animals. They were full of surprises. ”So I take it everyone in there are about as friendly as a prickly cactus?” He scrunched his nose. That didn’t sound all that appeasing. He didn’t blame her from breaking lose and finding solace in such a beautiful place such as this. It was peaceful. He wished he could find a place like this back home.[break] His head remained tipped back as he stared up at the stars only nodding his head at what she had to say about them. She was right no matter their differences they were all still the same except a lot of people didn’t see that. ”Mmhm, no matter what you are you still bleed. You still have to breathe in order to live and we all have the survival instinct except people still see everything in black and white.” Like the hybrids. The hybrids had absolutely nothing to protect them. ”Us weres are pretty low on the totem pole but even we don’t have it as bad as Hybrid creatures.” He commented.[break] He didn’t quite understand what her father had against other species but he supposed he never would since he didn’t think that way. People were people to him no matter what they were… some just died easier. Her next question caused him to lift his head as she asked him and he simply shook his head. ”Unfortunately, no, otherwise I wouldn’t have approached you as a panther the first time.” He gave her a playful but flirty expression. ”I definitely wouldn’t have wanted to make a first impression on a beautiful princess as a black jungle cat. I would have wanted to charm her with my intellect and good looks.” he winked at her before chuckling. ”I’m kidding. Actually it was a complete guess. I mean Barney was sporting some royal stuff on his saddle and bridal but that couldn’t really mean much. You could have stolen him for all I knew.” He shrugged. ”But either way I would have liked you for whatever you are. You are pleasant to be around there for I find you pleasant.” he firmly nodded his head with his rather pointless observation.[break]
She soon was pulling him up onto his feet though and his hazel eyes looked at her curiously. In mock shock he gasped. ”But what would your father say!” He stood and tugged her close. Lucky for her he knew how to do some dances as it was this ball wasn’t his first time. ”But isn’t being gawked at the best part?” He started to lead her in the dance, moving almost effortlessly with her as he held her close but in a respectful dancing manner. ”I am glad I ran into you tonight. A friendly face as you liked to say.”

Alone in the middle of a crowd | So, she wrapped her arm around his shoulder and began dancing with him in the garden while everyone else was dancing in the glitz and eyes of all the worlds. Making a face when he talked about being gawked at being the best part. "For some...they might think that way but I think that our first meeting might have shown you, I very much like being away from the spotlight in such things! As for Daddy.....I hope he sees it and has a melt down." Rhiannon laughed softly and moved slowly around the fountain with him while they danced and teased and talked. Smiling at his words she nodded her head to agree with him. "Me too. I......I really feel like this is the start of a fantastic friendship."
Turning her head, Rhi smiled at him and softly laughed. "Why do I have this feeling that you talking about trying to charm me if all fluff. You probably have that one special person that you are just keeping in the sidelines and privately wooing." Spinning with him, she laughed and then came back to look at him. "Fine....I'll take that as a request to change the subject." Resting her arm back around his shoulder once more while they continued the slow dance. "Anyway...I have things I've done since I met you that I can tell you about. So keep your secret love life a secret, then." Sticking out her tongue at him while they moved.
"I decided that I need to do some digging....try and give my brother as much help and information as possible. So Barney and I went on a ride....to the graveyard." He was the first person that he had told about her trip. She hadn't even told her brothers yet but here she was telling him. There was just something about him that she found nice and good and she genuinely liked him. "I wanted to try and find the tomb of the king that had made the peace accord between everyone. There has to be something there that we can use to help continue the peace....make it stronger....make it real for everyone."
Looking up at the guards that were watching over the garden she sighed. "Not everyone in this place believes that we are better than everyone." Turning her hand so that she was gripping his shoulder with it, Rhi lowered her head so that she was resting her chin on the back of her fingers. "I just wish there was more I could do...but I'm not the important one. I'm the one that doesn't matter...it's my brother, the middle one....he's got all the weight on his shoulders."

[attr="class","biggieno"] [attr="class","textieno"]Dancing was almost like second nature as he moved with the princess without even thinking about it. Their conversation was jumping from one topic to another though he could see she was attempting to try and dig out more information on him. Why would she? He wasn’t any of importance. At least… no one like her. He was just another commoner who happened to be doing rather dirty things for money. Dirty money, maybe? ”Oh I am sure he will catch wind of it one way or another.” He winked at her. ”Besides if he hasn’t figured out his daughter is rebellious than he perhaps doesn’t know his daughter very well at all.” He wondered what it was like to have parents at all. He had been an orphan never knowing his family. The only closest thing he had ever gotten was when he had been younger in a travel circus used for entertainment. That of course was until they got busted for using a panther that wasn’t really a panther. There was no thrill in a werebeast being a ‘tamed’ animal. She spoke of a blooming friendship and he nodded in agreement. ”I seem to know how to pick the best ones.” he grinned. Most of his friends were female but it wasn’t anything he was bothered by. Love was a complicated thing that he was far too nervous in jumping into. Not with what he did for a job…. Not with having no freedom of his own.[break]
Rhiannon had no idea what he did and it was probably for the best. Besides why worry her pretty little head with nonsense that he was utterly used to doing. As she spoke he tipped his head. ”All fluff?” He repeated. ”Definitely not.” He shook his head. Unless she meant he literally was almost with someone every other night or so then yeah perhaps but there was no relationship there. ”Oh yeah I have all the ladies swooning over me. I can’t keep them off. Sheesh. It’s tough being me.” A playful glitter was in his hazel eyes as he jutted his chin out at her again. It was untrue. He had no love life…. At least not a real one. ”Oh good. I really didn’t wanna spill the beans just yet when I was trying to figure out if I have an undying love for you or not.” he rolled his eyes as he spun her out and then pulled her back in. She moved effortlessly he was quite pleased with it… and also not getting his toes stepped on was a big plus.[break]
”So that makes you the youngest?” he asked curiously. ”I don’t have siblings at least none that I know of. I also don’t really know who my parents are either.” he shrugged. ”As for the tomb you speak of can’t say I know. What would make the peace stronger is if the king could get a grip on his power hunger. All of the royals though really. Each other them have a problem with something or another. Until they are all out of power nothing will likely change. Despite efforts of others.”

Alone in the middle of a crowd | Her mind was all over the place tonight and part of it, she knew, was because she hated being put on display and she knew very well, that was exactly what her father had done tonight by having her 'opening' the ball with a dance. It had been part of the reason that she came out here in the first place, to get away but now...here she was. Once more when she was seeking solitude...she found herself conversing with him. Funny how it was that this happened twice now. When he talked about her father having to know about her rebellious nature or else he didn't know her very well at all, she let out a little soft sound of disgust.
The truth of the matter was, her father didn't know her well at all....well maybe it was just that he didn't really care because of her being the girl. For the moment though, she was just dancing and swaying with a good looking man that she was getting to know in the garden of her home. Lifting her head up she looked at him and smirked. "I figured as much...you just can't keep the ladies off of you. You're a regular hot stuff. I bet you can't even walk down the street without ladies throwing themselves at you." Swaying with him slowly she let him lead her and spin her as her wanted, simply enjoying the moment and taking it in as much as she could. "Well once you figure out about that undying love for me ...let me know what the decision ends up being."
Shaking her head slowly she lowered her chin back down so that she was resting it on her fingers that were curled around his shoulder. "No. I'm the oldest...but I'm a girl so I'm no good to my parents. Only a boy matters because only a boy can be the heir and the future king." Closing her eyes for a moment while they danced she let out a soft breath because it had been so long since she had actually verbalized the words to anyone outside of her family. "I had the misfortune of being born the wrong sex so the first child to the King was a disappointment and useless. After me he got his heir, my middle brother and the youngest brother is the spare heir."
Rhiannon was quiet then for a bit then, just dancing with him to the music that she knew would eventually end and then breaking the moment and the peace that she had found. "I just want to find a way to keep the peace and make it better. Show people that my siblings and I aren't like my father." Lifting her head once more so that she was looking at him, "It's not just words to me. I'm just a human...I can't do anything special at all. I don't even have magic or powers. You though....you're something special. Something truly special."

[attr="class","biggieno"] [attr="class","textieno"]He offered a knowing smile and a slight nod. ”Totally called me out on that one but rest assured, you will be the first to know when I figure it out.” It was a playful banter. He could get used to it. It was easy to do and probably the best way for him to enjoy conversations with someone else. The serious stuff got too sticky and of course emotions tended to swell up and get in the way. He was better off being light, joking, and nonchalant about subjects. Especially know as it turned to her family life. Form the sounds of it, it didn’t sound like she got the respect she rightly deserved because of her gender. Now Killian wasn’t anyone who understood the weight of what a gender had to prove but even he didn’t blame her for acting out. As far as he knew women were great if not greater at some things than a man was. That was primarily because women were more calculative than a man. They thought of the before, the after, and the middle in ten different ways before a man could have even considered three of them. That was just how their brains tended to work. But because of how emotional women could be and how they tend to let their emotions rule them – he could see the point of a man being in the lead a better idea. It all seemed too political for his tastes to be honest.[break]
”Well I am happy you are a lady, if it is any consolation.” not that her being a man would have bothered him either. He didn’t discriminate against a gender nor find men unpleasing. IN fact he knew of a male fae he rather liked being around and then some. ”Otherwise you wouldn’t be the quirky Rhi I have come to know.” He offered her a big smile. The peace between them settled in and he got lost in the music for the time being. Swaying with a beautiful princess, beneath a beautiful sea of stars, in a beautiful serene garden… it was hard to not get lost. It was too bad that the rest of the world couldn’t experience such serenity. Each person had a different view about something, a racist act against one species from another, or the idea of ruling over all with monstrous power appealed to another. It was all dreadful at how the world seemed to be steadily falling apart. What was there that any of them could really do? There was always a bad apple in a bunch. [break]
She said he was a special and expression softened a bit. He was quite touched by the words. Not many appreciated were-shifters all that much. If anything they despised them. ”Most don’t like us because of our ability to change forms. They see it as a ‘lie’.” he started. ”How can anyone who changes the way the look be trusted? How do you know if they are lying? The ones who despise us – my kind being a predator – the most are farmers which I don’t say I blame them but if we look at the age we are in now that’s were a lot of the work lies. We have to hide ourselves and not be free to live like everyone else.” though true magic users too had it hard but not nearly as bad as hybrids or shifters, they had it the worst. They were not as what they appeared to be. They were more. ”The fact you don’t hold that against me is reassuring. I’m quite happy to be able to start calling you my friend.”

Alone in the middle of a crowd | Rhi laughed and grinned at him, "I would appreciate that...especially since that's the kind of information a girl would like to know." Slowly swaying and moving around with him, she just enjoyed being there with him. She felt comfortable and that was nice. It had been a while since she had felt like this around anyone that wasn't a person that she had known her whole life and knew what life was like for her inside the castle. Her chin was still resting on his shoulder and she could tell from the music, that it would soon stop and that meant their little moment they had stolen for themselves would also come to a stop. That idea made her feel sad for some reason she didn't really understand just then.
"Quirky, huh?" Then she heard the ending notes of the waltz and she pulled back slightly to look at him. Stepping back a bit so that she wasn't in his arms for the dance anymore, she curtsied gently and looked up at him. "Thank you, for the dance, sir. It was the best one I've had all night." That was the truth. The the exception of the ones that she had chosen, like that interesting fire mage for the first dance and some others during the evening....the other dances had been with her father's people and they weren't happy ones. She thought on that for a moment and the conversation that had been had....the disappointment and anger that had been communicated. Her face grew drawn for just a second before she pushed it away, wanting to make sure that it didn't ruin a happy moment in this evening.
Stepping in close she pressed a hand to his chest and her lips to his cheek. "You're a wonderful dancer, Killian." Stepping back she smiled softly at him. "I'm not really one to listen to a lot of the rumors and gossip. Seeing as that I've been born into a position where I have to deal with rumors and gossip about myself and family, all the time." Turning head head she heard voices from inside talking about votes and other things. Looking back at Killian she tilted her head back towards the castle. "We probably should head back inside...before people get worried and start looking for us. Would you mind walking back in with me?"
She wanted the evening to end but oddly enough she wanted to be able to stay out here, with Killian. Talking to him and teasing each other. Laughing and continuing to get to know each other. She could take him on a tour of the gardens....take him deeper so that he could see all the trees and the shrubs and the maze. Walking slowly away from where they had been sitting she looked over at him once more, "For the record and before I forget to tell you....I'm really happy that you came tonight."
