Magical Ability:
Jasper's magical ability is, quite simply, heat. In dragon form, she is able to expel pure heat in a column of blistering flame - rumored to be as hot as the sun itself, which is silly. Alongside the traditional fire-breathing ability, she is able to absorb or 'suck in' any surrounding heat such as; fire, sunlight, body heat, etc... This, as a result, can make the surrounding area very cold - depending on how much heat was absorbed. If she absorbs too much heat from a person, it can cause hypothermia, however, people rarely hold onto the red dragoness long enough for that to occur. Jasper can also expel that heat with the potential to cause hyperthermia in people around her, but at risk of causing herself to develop hypothermia.

Appearance:
Jasper first took her human form in her 120s and had mostly seen male humans, only a few females had attacked her and Jasper near 'copied' one of the mages she had killed. As a result, Jasper's human form has pale skin, dark brown hair with light highlights and greyish-blue eyes. She stands at around 5'4 with a very slender frame and is quite sore about her height, regretting making herself short as she didn't know about the averages in human heights. As for clothes, Jasper usually wears very thick jumpers made from white and grey wool, due to her need for heat, and brown leather leggings with thick leather boots. If the weather is too hot, then she can take the jumper off - revealing a multi-coloured thin fabric shirt underneath.
In her dragon form, Jasper is a red drake. Without wings, her main physical advantage is her strength - which is clearly seen in her muscular body, powerful shoulders and the fact that she is the height of 4 men at her shoulders. She has large black horns, matching a double row of black spines that travel down her back; which can be raised like spears when she feels threatened. Her tail tip is covered in bony, thorn-like spikes and she uses her tail like a bludgeon, slamming it into the offender with enough force to gouge a hole into wherever it lands. Her scales are primarily a ruby red but the scales darken to wine along the boney areas of her body and turn ebony along her spine. If you look closely enough, you can see freckles of amber glinting along her shoulders and cheekbones. The skin below the scales is a deep black, making each scale stand out vividly. The skin along her throat, however, tends to glow white-hot when she's preparing to bellow flame.

Personality:
Jasper is a hot-headed, antisocial brute - especially before the treaty was signed. She can be quite violent to challengers, snapping back at any insults and using her talons and teeth if the offender didn't get the message clear enough. This hot temper of hers has gotten her into trouble with some of the larger dragons; who managed to pin her down after an intense struggle, puffing angrily into the dust with her pride wounded. She despises crowds as a result, wary that others might join into the fight if one is started. Due to past encounters, Jasper has intense hatred for mages and a fear of water, which is strengthened by the fact that she can't swim.
Despite her temper, Jasper is quite intelligent which can make her a fierce ally or a fearsome enemy. She can be manipulative with others, especially when she knows where they stand with her. This has made her a useful messenger for the dragon kingdom and an efficient traveler. She is loyal to the bone with her family and those she has pledged her service to, which are very few, but will question decisions if she doesn't feel right with them.
Even in human form, Jasper carries the instinctive desire to always be near or in contact with a source of warmth. If no other source is available, she will grab the nearest humanoid and clutch them harshly but without causing injury. She hates having to be in contact with others but desperate situations call for desperate measures and she will reluctantly embrace those she is familiar with.

History:
Jasper isn't certain on where she was born but she is fully aware that is was long before the treaty. As an egg, her mother would carry her everywhere and as a hatchling, she was still carried. Her mother, Kavial, had almost always managed to avoid being tracked down by dragon hunters by staying on the move and staying within dragon form. With Jasper born, that became a lot more difficult, especially when the young dragon first discovered she could breathe fire. Kavial had been an active fighter against dragon hunters for the majority of her life, only lying low to raise Jasper to an appropriate size.
As soon as Jasper had reached 9 foot and adequate control of her ability, Kaival began to teach her how to fight back against hunters. It was small fights at first, the two attacking caravans and occasional game hunters, but it rapidly grew into fighting against stronger competition as Jasper grew more confident, and perhaps more cocky, with her abilities. Kavial taught Jasper many things; which places to attack, which places to avoid, why she should never make a lair, etc. Eventually, although fond of one another, the two separated when Jasper reached her 70s.
It was around this time where Jasper started to make a name for herself. Learning from her mother's teaching, Jasper would switch directions at least twice a week and would attack villages in random patterns; one here, skip two, three here, skip one, etc... It was obvious where she had attacked; the villages and farms were burned to nothing but ashes and scraps of bone, any one that was stranded or willing to fight back were swiftly cut down or bludgeoned to death with her tail. Although the crops had no value to Jasper, she would incinerate the fields - knowing that these tall plants were what provided the enemy soldiers with rations, which is why they must be burnt to the ground.
Cruel as she was at that age, Jasper would rip apart the wounded, the young and the elderly if she found them still lingering in the buildings that she tore open. The main signature that were left behind at Jasper's targets were the torched fields and the bodies with horrifically crushed skulls, since Jasper's tail was one of her favourite weapons.
With the severe disturbance Jasper was creating, it wasn't long before hunters began to target her. At first it was just small groups or over-confident single knights that chased her down, tracking her claw marks and paw prints. These she managed to eradicate with little injury, which boosted her ego to no end. It was at this point where Jasper decided to ignore one of the main rules her mother had given her - never make a lair. Having grown bold, Jasper selected a large cave and began to carve it into a suitable den for her to rest in; leaving for periods at a time to attack the surrounding farmland.
Of course, it wasn't long before a competent group of hunters tracked her down and planned an attack. Watching Jasper's actions and movements, they opted to attack her within the den during the night - when she seemed to be at her least active. The three knights in the group charged in, bellowing up a thunderous battle cry that startled Jasper awake and put her in a slight state of shock. Without breaking his stride, one of the knight ran forward and slashed his sword downward, ripping a large wound into her left hind leg. With a burst of pain followed by a screech of agony, Jasper leapt to her feet and slammed her tail end down onto the knight - his metal armour crumpling with a satisfying crunch. Whipping her head around like a snake, she focused on the second knight and let out a menacing hiss, opening her jaws to engulf the man in flame. As the man was being burnt to a crisp, Jasper had completely forgotten about the third and the mage. The third man sliced an uneven cut into her jaws and she wrenched her head upwards, shaking her head in rage; splattering the grey stones with crimson blood.
Turning on the third, she opened her jaws to burn this man alive as well - only to find her flames extinguished by a powerful jet of water before they emerged from her maw. Eyes wide with shock, Jasper staggered backwards, turning to find the source of the spout. As her eyes fell upon the mage, she completely forgot about the third man and charged at the woman. A near fatal mistake on her part.
The third man took advantage of Jasper's change in direction and plunged his sword deep into her side, narrowly missing her ribcage and, thankfully, any vital organs. Legs crumpling with a pained scream, Jasper landed heavily on her side and turned her head, feeling fear for the first time as the third man grabbed the hilt of his sword, planning to plunge it further into her flesh. The mage had been chattering something to the man when her voice suddenly cut off. Slowly, Jasper turned her head to the entrance and let out a small whine as she saw the mage dead and an incredibly angry Kavial blocking out the moonlight. Needless to say, the last man standing wasn't standing for long.
Weak but not dying, Jasper muttered repeated apologies and thanks to Kavial, most of which were unintelligible to the older dragon. Her mother looked after her for the next few days, waiting for Jasper to heal from the worst of her injuries before instructing her daughter to turn human, knowing full well that at her age, Jasper should be able to. Uncertain of even where to begin, Jasper started of by picturing the mage that had nearly been the end of her and slowly began to build up her form in her head from that.
Changing into a humanoid was one of the weirdest, and possibly most degrading, experiences Jasper had ever had. Turning from a massive red dragoness into something weak, soft and weirdly pink was, unfortunately, something she would have to get used to. She was unable to move, the pain from her wounds fresh from the change. As carefully as she did when she was a newborn, Kavial picked up Jasper in her jaws and placed her on her own shoulders. Slipping into unconciousness, Jasper only managed to catch a a few words from her mother before she succumbed to the comforting darkness. "Dangerous Reaches..."
Jasper caught only brief glimpses of the world as Kavial carried her to some place she'd never been before. Trees, blue sky, a river and... stones. A lot of stones. When Jasper began to finally gain proper consciousness, she found herself in the place that housed the Dragon Council. Uncomfortable around so many strange dragons, Jasper kept close to Kavial, who filled her in on the recent developments. A treaty?! She was shocked, and a bit outraged. What about revenge on those that had near killed he- Oh right, her mother took care of it.
After thinking on it for a while, Jasper was reluctant to admit that a treaty was the wisest idea. She knew that all the kingdoms were suffering from this war and many had major casualties - hell, Jasper had contributed to that number an unknown but very high amount. Lying low, like many other dragons, Jasper and her mother kept close to the council, waiting for news that the world outside was safe again. Jasper struggled with the sudden constriction on travelling, getting restless feet just by looking upwards. She didn't care or miss the killing and would honestly be glad that she would no longer feel like she needed to. She had never taken joy or despair at taking those lives, and she wouldn't miss it.
Finally, word arrived that the treaty was signed and many dragons were very relived - for this meant that they would no longer be hunted for sport and profit. Jasper, however, felt uncertain. With new allies meant new problems, and none of the kingdoms had ever been particularly close with dragons. She brought this up with one of the council dragons she managed to get the chance to talk to and was surprised when she was given the task of messenger. Jasper's appearance was most likely warned of and known for violence in the kingdoms but maybe her presence would symbolize strength, if she managed to control herself. Conflicted with herself and the new task she had been given, Jasper waited for several more years in the Dangerous Reached before venturing back into the kingdoms - reluctant yet hopeful to see the changes that have been amde to the world and could be made to herself.*J
