Magical Ability:
Can turn from a man to a Friesian horse at will. Since he thinks partial transformation looks stupid, he hardly ever does that.

[break]
Appearance:
Renoth is young, and he looks it. His features are soft and attractive, partly due to his age, partly inherited from his parents. In the hopes of looking more mature, he's grown a beard. It's filling in well, but like him, needs time to mature. His dark hair is long and often tied back while he works. His eyes are also dark, slightly almond shaped, and betray his every thought. Indeed, he has an expressive face, no matter how hard he tries to hide behind a stoic expression. As for his build, he is rather tall, standing about 6 feet, another thing inherited from his parents. He's also lean and fit, not overly muscular but obviously accustomed to physical work.
[break]
[break]The last thing he's inherited from his parents is the ability to change from an attractive young man to an attractive young stallion at will. In horse form he's pushing 16 hands tall, but he still has a bit of growing left to do and his father stands at 17 hands. He hopes he'll be that tall someday. Being a Friesian, his coat is black with a bluish sheen, indicating that his coat likely won't fade out as he gets older. Like his human hair, his mane and tail are dark, long, and wavy. Black feathering grows around his hooves. His build is a Baroque type, with an arched neck, handsome face, small ears, and strong body. His shoulders slope into a broad back, down to sloping hindquarters and a low-set tail. All-in-all, a powerful horse. His movements are graceful; what he lacks in speed he makes up for in power.
[break]
[break]Jumping back to his human form, he typically wears inexpensive clothing - a loose-fitted shirt with a leather belt or vest, trousers, and old boots. He can't afford any dyes or styled clothing, so it's all rather plain.
[break]
[break]
Personality:
To start, he knows his place. He was born into farmwork, and he knows that's what he will die doing. He doesn't waste time questioning it, even if he wishes for more. He's convinced he will never be any greater than what he is now. It doesn't matter why things are the way they are; he can't do much to change them. Anyway, it's not all bad and it could be a lot worse. As a boy, he dreamed of living at a palace or a castle, of being a knight. He recalls those dreams now as a young man, but on the whole he's given them up.
[break]
[break]Even though he's more of an introvert, he enjoys meeting new people who have interesting stories to tell. That's about the only time he asks a lot of questions. Still, he tries not to let his enthusiasm overtake everything - he'd rather be polite than bother someone with question after question. He likes to understand tangible things, not things like politics or social classes, but things like machines and armor, weapons, even, when he can get his hands on one. And, although he's used to obeying orders, he doesn't much like being bossed around. Sometimes in his free time he draws things and lets his imagination wander for a bit before returning to the real world.
[break]
[break]
He's used to schedules, so organization is something he enjoys. His room is a bit cluttered, but at least he knows where everything is. Overall, order and a plan are two things he likes to have. Since he's so used to getting up early and going out to work, he's motivated to get the work done. The sooner he finishes, the more time to himself he has. He knows his limits, but he'll put in a great deal of effort to get the job done right and in good time. He's been praised as being dependable and ambitious. Sometimes, though, he focuses too much on the task at hand and not enough on those around him. This has led to a bit of a strained relationship between he and his parents. Especially his father. Who, incidentally, is the very same way.
[break]
[break]
As mentioned, he isn't exactly the outgoing type. He's friendly to strangers, but doesn't try very hard to make friends with everyone. He has only a small circle of friends. Generally, he hates a crowd no matter the occasion, but one-on-one with a stranger or acquaintance makes him just as uncomfortable. People drain him. Since he likes to avoid conflict, he could stand to be more assertive. When asked if he considered himself an optimist or pessimist, he responded that he was a realist. The glass has water in it; it doesn't matter if it's half empty or half full.

Just because he doesn't like interacting with people doesn't mean he hates them. On the contrary, Renoth is rather compassionate. He tries to help where he can despite his reservations, but usually that's only if the other person really needs his help. Otherwise he keeps an eye on them until someone braver than he comes to help. He prefers working alone or with his father. Other people usually make him uncomfortable if he doesn't know them well. He is inherently suspicious of others although he has an even temper.
[break]
[break]
On top of everything, the boy could use another dose of confidence. He knows farm work, yes, but when it comes to other things he is constantly looking for help. It's not easy to make him angry, but he does get frustrated. He tries his very best not to take it out on others around him.
[break]
[break]
A few more tidbits: He rather likes his name. It sounds nobler than he is and he's proud to carry his surname. He's happy with life on the farm - or at least content with it. Deep down, no matter how much he denies it - and he does - he wishes for more. More than the life and death of a peasant.

History:
Renoth was born on a farm. It's a simple start, and that's all there is to it. Even as a boy he helped his parents in the fields. Often, his father would take the form of a huge black stallion and pull the cart or the plow while Renoth and his mother would load the cart with produce. Some of the crops were eaten by the family but most were sold so that the cycle of planting and harvesting could begin again. As a family of werehorses, the Lanavors never eat meat. Therefore, their lives really do depend on their crops. During the first few years of his life, Renoth thought it was perfectly natural for parents to turn into horses. He had a small group of friends then, so naturally he talked to them about it. At first it didn't change anything, but those children told their parents about it, and some of the parents didn't react very kindly. As it happens so often, and it happened to Renoth, the children began to reflect their parents' attitudes. They started bullying him, as they were all human children, and he was not. Renoth became so upset that his features began to change and he transformed for the first time. The children's stunned expressions turned to more laughter, more bullying. That was the day Renoth became distrustful. He ran home on four legs and didn't turn back into a boy for many hours. Part of it was the difficulty of changing, but another part was how ashamed he was. It took almost a year for his parents to convince him to turn into a colt again. Little by little, he began to accept it as part of him, and little by little he got better at changing.
[break]
[break]
As he got bigger, so did his list of responsibilities on the farm. It was good because that meant they could grow more crops than before, since there were three Lanavors. Of course, with Renoth growing, he had to eat more, too. Everything balanced out and the family was left with the same amount of money as they had in the first place. And so it went, from late boyhood to the present. Renoth has had many small adventures over the years, but no major injuries or life-changing discoveries. Nothing so far has matched the time when he was a boy.

Miscellaneous:
Carries a pouch with a few coins along with a small knife for self-defense.
