Buried underground
But I'll keep coming.
But I'll keep coming.
The sea. It reminded Angod of... something. This second life wasn't all it was cracked up to be; he could hardly even remember the nice parts of his real life. Hell, he couldn't really remember if there were any good parts. And he wasn't even immortal. One day he'd inevitably lose his rotting mind and that would be the end of it. The end of him.
What kind of second chance was that?
Besides, as far as he could remember, he hadn't even done anything notable with this new life. If one could call it a life.
The salt in the air was oddly familiar. A memory just out of reach. The spray of the sea would have chilled him if he were alive. He was standing on some jagged rocks that lined the water's edge, looking out at the harsh water. He wasn't sure why he was standing there, but that didn't matter. Off to the side he could hear some animate skeletons roaming aimlessly, their bones creaking as they rubbed together. Some manner of undead creature stalked the rocks many feet away. Angod's one eye met its gaze as it sized him up.
It left him alone.
After a few long moments standing on the wet stones by the cold sea, Angod turned and picked his way back to more solid ground. He could hear that thing snarling off in the distance, but if it bothered him at all, he didn't show it.
They were both already quite dead. What more could they do to each other in a fight? Angod supposed it was still hunting out of instinct. It might have been some large wild cat in its life. That sort of thing hardly mattered.
