Standing at 5'6'' and weighing 130lbs, Karlyn is an average height and build. She is toned and muscular but still thin and lithe. Her most striking feature is her red hair that falls just below her shoulder and her sparkling green eyes. Her face and body are lightly dusted with freckles. For jewelry she typically will wear only small stud earrings and save anything more elaborate for formal affairs. Though affable and social, Karlyn can be described as a somewhat intense and serious person. Strong and independent, she defines herself by her work ethic, self-discipline, and ambition. Karlyn is compassionate at heart but is also a firm believer in tough love. Skilled at remaining expressionless, Karlyn is truly a very emotional and sensitive person who has a strong sense of justice and right and wrong. Furthermore, she does not believe that the law is always just and right and is not above using her own methods to ensure justice is done. Karlyn’s unacknowledged goal is to spend her life defending the weak and helpless. She is both a protector and a nurturer - a delicate balance between lover and fighter.
Passionate and intense, Karlyn is sometimes quick to anger, but her anger burns cold. You won’t often hear her raise her voice or yell in anger, but you might melt from the glare she’ll give you combined with some sarcastic remark. A fear of failure and extreme self-criticism leaves Karlyn as a victim to bouts of depression. She grieves intensely and feels guilt and shame over the smallest misstep. Karlyn was born to an immortal nobleman and his werebeast noblemistress. Her mother died giving birth to her and thus, Karlyn was taken into her father’s home. Though his intentions were kind, her father did not openly claim her. He merely left her on the doorstep and when the servants found her, he claimed that, out of the kindness of his heart, he would raise the “abandoned” child as his own. Unfortunately, Karlyn’s “stepmother” was not fooled, and she made sure everyone in the household knew the truth of Karlyn’s heritage. Pushed aside by her family, including her father, Karlyn grew up well taken care of but without receiving any affection. She was given the best schooling, the best lessons in the manners of nobles, and even the best weapons trainings when she showed a talent for combat. Yet, money does not buy love, and when Karlyn first bled as a woman at age 15, her “stepmother” declared her an adult and forced her from the noble family’s home to “see the world.” Thankfully, Karlyn was not terribly devastated by this. She spent 10 years working as a mercenary and, indeed, traveling the world and honing her fighting skills. At the age of 25, Karlyn drank from the spring and received her immortal gift of destruction. The next few years were spent in a hidden, wooded valley where Karlyn learned to control her powers. It took her long, lonely years to be able to touch any living thing without turning it to dust, but ultimately, perseverance (and a lot of unfortunate animal testing) prevailed, and Karlyn was able to learn control. From there, Karlyn made a decision. She did not want to be alone and lonely any longer. Therefore, she moved back to civilization - specifically the Imfala Kingdom. It was here that Karlyn carved out a place for herself in the world by keeping her werebeast heritage hidden . She began as a soldier until she revealed her noble birth and found a knight that would take her on as a squire. From there, she became obsessive over her fitness and arms training and battled it out until being named a full knight and accepted into noble society. She can use a longbow with moderate skill, but her truly honed her ability with her sword and daggers.
