Motherhood. It was beautiful she had been told. So fulfilling. But they didn't tell her about the constant screaming. The tiny little babe that would take and take but not even offer any sign that she was doing anything right. It had only been a couple weeks since the birth but Rhea was going stir crazy. Faron was around of course but with her temper as short as it had been she had hardly offered him a word. She was stressed beyond her limit and it was still growing. She wasn't ready. That phrase kept repeating in her mind. She wasn't ready for this. She was dressed in one of Faron's shirts. It was all that fit with how swollen her breasts were with milk. After slipping into a pair of pants she took the infant and went to see her father. Faron wasn't home or she would have left the babe with him.
She hadn't even named the child yet. There was that much of a disconnect for her. She felt like she was just going through the motions. A slave to a tiny master that only cried for more. Her father was, of course, happy to babysit. Just an hour Rhea had told him. She just needed an hour to herself, to try to get her mind straight. In the back of her mind she couldn't get rid of that little voice that had always known she would fail. That she would be a horrible mother. She ended up in the marketplace. Unlike her normal self that would be dressed in a cute little skirt with a slim fitting blouse, her blonde hair lying smoothly with a couple gentle curls in front. She was now a mess, even her hair looked messy and was half pinned up off her neck. She wandered aimlessly until she sat down at a small booth near one of the food stands. Tired blue eyes peering around at the bustling people. She was tired...exhausted even. Slowly her pose relaxed until her head lay on the table. Eyes drifting shut more and more.
It was when Rhea was fully immersed in a dream that the illusion happened. Not since she was young had she a dream illusion where her mind would cast while she wasn't even conscious. It started slowly at first. Small random splotches of darkness crawling from beneath the table she sat at. It was a bright day outside and it didn't take long for people to notice the strange shapeless things that jerked and twisted as they crawled into the crowd. And suddenly they morphed into dark beasts with red eyes. Wolves with the voices of a screaming child. Her child. Her demons taking shape and form. They ran amuck. Chasing people while gnashing their obsidian fangs. Their bodies appearing a strange ghostly purple with tendrils of smoke coming from them. Bright red eyes rolling around the marketplace as they searched for someone to haunt. There were screams. Panic insured. Carts were overturned and people were running in all directions. And through all the chaos Rhea didn't awaken or so much as twitch from where she sat slumped over the table.

There had been quite the strain on him and Rhea since the birth of their child. To be fair he knew it was hard on her and though he tried to help as best as he could, raising a child was not really his forte. Even when he was kids with his brother who clearly looked up to him he wouldn’t say he was the best role model. Needless to say, this was his responsibility too but in a way he did his best to utterly stay out of her way too. The feline stuck around him more also. The vibes Rhea was putting off made the both of them uncomfortable and that was primarily because neither one of them knew when exactly she was going to blow. She was like one of those ticking time bombs and he was sure it was coming. The only bad part was trying to guess just when it would happen and just who would it happen to. She was gone by the time he had gotten back home and he muddled around the place before growing too bored. He knew she needed this time on her own. She needed a cleansing restart and hoped that she had done so for herself, no less; it didn’t help him keep his curiosity in check. He had gone to his brothers to find their infant daughter there and his brother simply saying she had stated she was going towards the marketplace. Afterwards, his brother had been so wrapped up in the small tiny human that he hadn’t even noticed that he had left.
He hung around in the marketplace finding nothing out of the ordinary so far. Usually when Rhea was around there had to be some sort of trouble ensuing. It was who she was. Despite her father’s strict rising, much like he did, she beat against the grain. She was the type of woman who had quite the independent mind and when she saw fit for something, she went for it. It was how they had even ended up together as taboo as it seemed to be. He nibbled on some of the sweet-savory meat he had previously bought as he moseyed along and he probably would have never found her if it hadn’t been for the terror screams on down the road. A woman zoomed past him causing the stick to drop from his fingers and to the ground much to his dismay. ”Damnit.” he growled. His eyes watched the meat hit the ground with a scrunched nose as about that time he spied what it was the woman was running from. The dark beasties didn’t really seem to pay him too much mind as they terrorized the people who ran from them. His brows furrowed for a moment as he headed a little more down the street watching one back a man in a corner who had his child clinging to his legs against the wall. ”Hey!” he yelled. The creature then seemed to become distracted and zone in on him. He stepped backward and about that time the man scooped his youngin up and bolted.
With a growl and a snarl, the thing leaped towards him and Faron turned on his heel bolting. He didn’t know what the things were and to be honest they were a bit too frightening for him to figure out where their source was. He ran and eventually the monster chose an easier prey of another man. He stopped and watched as more creatures seemed to be piling in on the streets of the marketplace. As a woman swung a bag of potatoes at one of the creatures he expected it to go flying except… it went through. That was interesting.
The more he paid attention to it he could spy that they held a bit of a translucent appearance to them. ”hmm.” so they weren’t real.. were they… dreams? His eyes started scanning his surroundings and it was then he spotted the hunched over figure of Rhea on the table. Moving towards her he clasped her shoulder and shook her. ”Rhea! Wake up!”
Perhaps letting her wander alone was a bad idea.

She didn't even really dream. It was just solid black, not a sound nor light permeated the dark fog. And then someone was shaking her, her shoulder jumping back and forth under their command. She immediately jerked away, smacking at the hand that touched her. Through blurry eyes she took in the frazzled face of Faron...and then the marketplace around her. Her creations had disappeared as soon as she had awoken. "Fuck." She whispered. Meeting the eyes of a couple people that had stopped running. Noticing of course that the sleeping woman in the middle of it all was now awake. Not suspicious at all. "It was me, wasn't it?" She ask Faron quietly. One of her hands reaching out to tug at his arm.
She could hear the angry whispers from the crowd as she climbed to her feet. She gripped his arm and tugged him with her as she began to retreat. "I haven't made illusions in my sleep in years." She said to him as she moved, attempting to pull him with her. "I must have been really tired." Was...she still was. Although the thought of insighting a riot did wonders to get the adrenaline pumping. Briefly, her mind lapsed. Wait...where was the baby??
"Where's the baby??" She asked Faron worriedly. Turning to face him she grabbed both of his arms. "Did I leave her there? Oh god!" She started to head back then froze. No. Faron wouldn't have left the babe. A shaking hand came to wipe at her face. Stress making her heart beat like drum in her chest. "I cant do this." She said softly. Shaking her head as she raked her hand over her eyes. "I cant do this." A repetition. An echo of the first desperate statement.

The moment she came back to the real world and lift her beautiful head up so he could see blue shinning eyes, those monsters vanished. He could feel the eyes on them and gave a few of the onlookers a cold stare down. He wasn’t in the mood to deal with their shit. A few of them got the message and looked away but still whispered to whoever was around them. Focusing his eyes back on Rhea who climbed to her feet and grabbed his arm toting him behind her as she spoke. A small frown was forming as he listened to her speak. ”You have been. I told you, you were putting too much on yourself.” But that likely fell on deaf ears. She’d been ignoring him barely even acknowledging his existence as she went about her business. He remained a little standoffish, arms now crossing over his chest as he watched her suddenly grow worried. He caught her by the arm then as she started to spiral down. ”She’s with your dead, She’s fine….” his voice was low and humming literally seeing the stress just fall off of her like it were clothing.
”You can.” he corrected. ”You have to.” Tough luck, he didn’t think he could do it either but he was sticking it out so she had to also. ”You just need a break.” He let go of her arm and went back to crossing his. ”I’m sure your dad will be more than willing to take her for a small bit until you get your head back on straight. You can’t be a mother if you are losing your shit… even in your sleep.” he should be more comforting about the subject and he was doing his best but she wasn’t the only one having a problem. The disconnect in their relationship was affecting the situation. As it were he had enough trouble picking out emotions and now with not really knowing where he stood with her, it felt harder. ”I can talk to him.” he gave a shouldered shrug. ”Then you can run off and let some steam loose.” He didn’t think she would abandon them or at least he hoped she wouldn’t.

He seemed so crass, like he didn't even care. Or maybe he was angry with her. It was hard for the sleep-deprived Rhea to tell. And of course she would take his statement not as in he was trying to let her rest. But that maybe he wanted her gone. They hadn't really spoken since the childs birth and now he seemed so annoyed with her. She couldn't manage to even make him happy, let alone care for their daughter. She stared at Faron with hurt and misunderstanding glittering in her blue eyes before she turned away. His words cut her deep. She already felt like a failure. As a mother. As...whatever she was to Faron. She needed support in those moments, not harsh truths. But it was not what he gave her.
She nodded and began to walk. Not turning back to him as she moved. "Yeah, talk to him." Her father would be capable of caring for the babe for a few days. Wet nurses were around and for hire, she could pay him back when she returned. "Let him know I 'ran off'." She mirrored his words although her's may have meant something else entirely. Something more permanent. She felt as if she were breaking down from the inside out. She couldn't handle all the stress that had accumulated over the last couple weeks. Couldn't handle being such a failure, even to Faron. Faron whom had never judged her no matter how many times she messed up.
Without another word she began to run. Perhaps if she ran fast enough, far enough, she could outrun her own transgressions.

She obviously took his words wrong but he didn’t have the energy to really fight her on it so instead he parted his lips to have his words chase after her instead. ”Not what I meant, Rhea.” his tone was less than amused. He couldn’t fight her battles too when he was also fighting his. It should be a team effort but so far he wasn’t getting team out of it. He was getting Rhea’s needs plus his own. He sighed quietly as she walked from him, hazel eyes following her as she went. Everything in him said to follow and clear it up before it gets worse because the storm was inevitably coming but at the same time he just really didn’t want to and didn’t think he should have to. She wasn’t asking him what was wrong. She was barely even noticing anything outside of her own issues.
She apparently needed this last rendezvous but hopefully for her sake…. She wouldn’t risk what it was she had at home.
Turning the opposite direction, he headed towards the tower to go talk with his brother. At least he would want to see him. Maybe he could figure it out because Faron sure as hell couldn’t. Women were a complicated subject and as much as he loved Rhea… sometimes she was as much of a mystery as every other woman out there.
