Odom was always cautious when he came onto Elven lands. He had grown up next to the forest and had many Elf friends but was told to be careful as some Elves frowned on the presence of humans. Odom knew the interaction of some humans had ended in disaster in the past. Many humans had taken unfair advantage of the excellent gaming opportunity and had simply taken more than they needed without permission. That was one of the Elves pet peeves. Individuals coming onto their land unannounced. It had been the cause of hard feelings and hard held grudges between the two groups. But today Odom's curiosity got the best of him when he found himself in front of the entrance of the Grand Library. He had heard of it from others but had never had the guts to go inside until now. So inside he went, careful not to draw attention or make a spectacle of himself. Inside was grand and ancient but organized and neatly kept free of dust. It was all he could do to keep from verbally expressing his awe of the library and realized then calling it grand was an understatement. It was spectacular. Luckily no one paid him any attention as he quietly moved towards the center of the library, Shelves held volumes of books and although he was an intelligent man, his father had expected him and his brothers know how to read, he knew his knowledge of the world was very limited. But where should he start? What he actually knew could fir into a thimble compared to what these hallowed halls held. He was a farmer's son so besides reading and knowing basic math, his main knowledge had been knowing how to read the seasons, knowing which crop to plant as well as when to harvest the crops. But he also how to care for livestock such as cows, chickens and goats, but also how to care for horses. But part of his life was also how to wield a sword correctly, shoot a bow and arrow accurately and to defend himself and also to hunt wild game. With four men living together with healthy appetites keeping good food on the table was always a must. But right now he had knowledge to absorb. But where to start was the biggest problem at the moment. Should he begin with history? Or maybe he could find a story that would appeal to him. Something with a hero, perhaps. Elves had heroes. Perhaps he could read about a great conquest or a discovery. Where oh where to start? He pondered not really paying attention to who was watching him. Ives Beaumont

It was another day. Another day at the library, his tasks he had to continue. It was the same routine, over and over again each day. It hardly left room for the life he held outside the two large stone doors. Larkin was still missing however, so he had to complete all of his tasks alone. He just... As he walked through the library, stacking the shelves of used books, he began to wonder. Many things had happened to him recently, though it all changed when his relationship with Rook had formed. Hope, they decided to go for together that one evening. It made him then remember about the plant. It had infected him, and he had no more visions... which was odd considering. But, still not knowing how that had worked, he assumed that his life was not cut down as much as it was. Continuing to place book after book in their right places, he continued to think. The plant was still alive, wasn't it? Rook said they had nearly defeated it, but now it was still hiding somewhere probably. Was that dangerous? Was it more dangerous that now it was inside him? It seemed to obscure the magic that was killing him sure, but there was always the thought of being controlled by the plant. Though he did not hear the voices that Rook had once had. Though it seemed so long ago, when they had even talked about the plant last. So many things had happened since then, he nearly had forgotten about it. Still, the Lore Keeper continued to organize the books in their right order, until coming across a man who seemed to be looking for something but didn't know what he wanted.
Standing before him Ives looked at him, it didn't occur to him that he was not elf at first sight however now he caught a glimpse of the non-pointed ears. He resisted the urge to groan. Let him guess, a human, immortal, werebeast, or merfolk. He was used to playing those games, trying to see who was tainting their library now. Though, Ives seemed less hateful than normal. But he still wanted to roll his eyes. He despised other races in the library, sure, but now... he was beginning to think. Was it really that bad? If... he left? He had begun to think of that now, to leave. Why? He couldn't say to himself for certain. But... perhaps he had been toying with the idea of just... running away from this life. Life stuffed in the library, reading, the mundane repetition that defined his daily life. Though, it was just something in the back of his mind. He wasn't seriously considering such a foolish idea. He didn't even know where his apprentice had went. Still, he worried for Larkin.
"Are you looking for something?" he had to ask. Clearly there was some form of irritation in his voice.

"Are you looking for something?" Odom turned to look at the Elf that asked him a question. He had never seen or talked to him before. It was clear from his action that this particular Elf was not overly thrilled to see him. Probably because of the fact that he was human. Some Elves strongly disliked Humans. Looking at the ears on the Elf it was then Odom realized his dark hair was pulled back away from his face and tied in a knot at the back of his head, but was also smooth against his head and above his ears. A dead give away of his genetic identity. He made a mental note to make sure his ears were covered up in some way after this. "Erhmmm, nah. Just looking. Thanks anyway," he dismissed the blonde Elf. Odom figured the less confrontation he'd have with this guy the better it would be. Ives Beaumont

"Alright," Ives said. Well if the human didn't want anything then he would leave him to his own. The Lore Keeper then briskly turned around, having no need to do anything there, his footsteps tapping against the rug on the floor. Humans were always so indecisive. Of course, Ives could not state his thoughts out loud, for such the elves were renowned as a peaceful, accepting race upon which he never fully quite understood. He was odd in that regard, a rare trait among his own kind. The Lore Keeper then moved toward his desk, where his chair was toward the end of the library, in front of another room which had its door closed. He sat down at his desk, continuing to get back to work. Indeed, it was quiet in the library. How odd, with all the commotion that had happened recently. Dipping his quill in ink he stared down at a blank sheet of paper that laid before him, beginning to process the record keepings of the month. However, as his blue eyes stared down at the sheet, the quill did not move to write. Instead, it hovered over it in the air, as if debating what to write. Well, indeed that was what he was doing. What had happened, all that time? Well, many things. But what was in need of recording? His gaze trailed over to the side, the wilting branch of one of the trees that had grown there. Indeed, many of the plants within the library were dying. His powers had been inactive ever since the day he had been infected. That was another thing too, how was he supposed to help record history while his magic had not been present? Well, as the Lore Keepers had done before him they had just wrote what they deemed to be important at the time. Large events, or events that should have took notice. But the plant? Well, Ives couldn't really bring himself to write about the topic, even though it was a dire situation. Though, they had nearly defeated it. Maybe it would be alright for him to write it when it was, he figured.
Defeatedly, he couldn't write anything down, placing the quill back into the ink jar as he slid back into his chair. He was frustrated with himself, this was so irritating. Ever since that time, he had changed. Surely, Larkin would make a better Lore Keeper now he supposed.

Well, that went well. With a sigh of relief Odom watched as Ives walked back to his desk. He thought for sure the Elf was going to tell him he had no business inside the library unchaperoned. He knew how untrusting many of the Elves were towards humans. Not that it was unjustified. Some humans were just mean, especially towards creatures and beings unlike themselves. And what did the humans have to complain about. The Elves had been around long before humans had been. Unfortunately they were portrayed as devils or demons but Odom knew they were not. They were living beings that had the same right to exist as ant other living creature. "Excuse me," he asked the blonde Elf as he interrupted his writing. "Perhaps you could help me. I was wondering what the law were pertaining to hunting on Elven lands. Is there a book or pamphlet that I could read about them? I believe there are but I am uncertain as to what they are. Would you be able to help me?" Ives Beaumont

He looked up to see as the human approached once again, and the Lore Keeper's eyes narrowed in agitation. Indeed, he didn't know what he wanted didn't he? Disappointed by the fact that he hadn't answered him before until now, Ives reluctantly looked up at him and paid attention to what he wanted. His brow rose slightly at his request. Well, there were not too many laws about hunting, as he could recall. He was not a hunter, however he was not an information guide either. This was the Grand Library, not a center for tourists for other races. He breathed in irritation, nearly sighing as he crossed his arms and closing his eyes he opened them to look up at him again. "There are a few. However they are books that mostly pertain to the Hunting Grounds themselves, not just the laws within them. You will have to read them in depth to find that information." Standing from his chair, he then began to head toward one of the bookshelves. "This way," he said, taking the lead as he expected the human to follow. He continued to walk, past the many books and dying plants that infected the library, wilting branches and fallen leaves across the place. His boots even carelessly crunched over a few of the long dead brown leaves. Though, the elven laws were not held here as a whole collectively, despite it being the Grand Library. For that he would need to venture to the Aelfmenn Kingdom and require permission, which he very well could get his hands on if he obeyed the rules. However, Ives was curious as to why he wanted to hunt in the Hunting Grounds in the first place. Well, he might be a hunter after all. He couldn't deny him permission, however he didn't like the fact that a human would do such an activity on their sacred land. How tainted it would be. However, all races were allowed there, and it was against his power to speak up against it. He then arrived at the bookshelf where the books were.
Standing before it, his eyes glanced at the titles, then he pulled out a few about the Hunting Grounds before handing them to the man. Once he was finished he stared at him with impatient blue eyes. "Is that all you need?" he asked, the annoyance probably seeping through his voice. Probably he was going to ask him more, no doubt.

A small amused smirk spread across his face as the Elf seemed irritated at the thought of helping him. This was just too, too easy. Whether the master Elf realized it or not but he just made himself a target for Odom. Getting under another's skin was like a game to him. This had nit been his initial purpose. It was to get information about hunting laws so that he wouldn't be breaking any laws, if there were any. Plus, he didn't want to be accused of trespassing on any Elven lands. But this side of this Elf's more than human reaction intrigued him. As he followed the Master Elf he couldn't help but to noticed the dying plants with their brown leaves littering the floor. Curious. After leading him into the heart of the ancient library Ives than pulled down several heavy books and piled them in Odom's arms, he asked another question. "Is that all you need?" he asked, the annoyance probably seeping through his voice. And there it was. Odom had actually caused the Elf to become irritated at him. This was just too, too funny. "Yes, do you have any information on the kinds of animals in the forest and is there a hunting season? Are there are particular kinds of weapons that are best to use? Are there any weapons not allowed? And when is the best time to hunt? And what's wrong with all your plants? They seem to be dying. All of them." Ives Beaumont

Another twitch could perhaps be seen in the Lore Keeper's expression. The human sure loved to irk him, didn't he? Looking at him with a mixture of irritation and impatience, with a hint of professionalism, Ives turned again, to walk past the center of the room and toward the books about nature, expecting the curious man to follow him. "Follow me," he said anyway, just in case he was too daft to keep up. He continued to walk down across the large building, past all sorts of tables, books, shelves, and other dead plants. Moving forward he snagged one of his boots upon one of the dead, wilted roots of a tree. With a grunt he forced it out of it, stamping on the floor again upon it to flatten the way. He then continued again, walking. As he continued to walk he talked to the man but did not look in his direction. "Most of everything you have questioned are within those very books. I'd advise you read them before asking for more," he said shortly, before coming upon another shelf that was nearly covered and entangled in a mass of dead vines. Wiping them away he brought another book from the shelf, and would place it onto the man's already large pile if he stood close enough. He then turned to face him.
"That is the book about the hunting game within Dryhtwood. However I wouldn't get too carried away-." He then stopped, remembering the man's other question. The plants. They were dead. His eyes widened slightly, however he then turned his head noticeably as he gazed upon the dead vines without much expression. "Yes, they've been like that for a while now. It is of no concern," he reaffirmed, turning his gaze to meet his once more. But it was, he thought. It did concern the Lore Keeper. However not in a negative light. Or perhaps it was. What was worse? Having the plant knowingly infected within you, knowing that you may turn against your brethren at any second? Or the fact that you were dying? Both were of bad options. Of course, then with a polite nod, Ives' face resumed to that of a serious glance before turning once more, walking away toward the direction of his desk as he assumed the human would thank him and be on his way to sit at one of the tables. However, he heard a meow sound coming from up above caused Ives' head to turn.
The little kitten sat up high in one of the dead trees, crying softly. Expression softening, a small smile crooked his lips. Ives then looked up toward the high tree that stood above the bookshelf, wondering how the little creature had even gotten up there. He crossed his arms sternly. "Now how are you going to get down?" he asked the kitten, in a soft and barely audible voice so that none in the library would be able to hear. But Ives did not know how to climb such a tree. Perhaps if Rook was around he would have been able to ask him. Though, the soldier was not there at the moment. Either he would have to wait or just stare up at the kitten above, which seemed to stare frightfully at the ground of the library below. Though, he didn't know how to get it down.

Odom's knees buckled slightly from the weight of yet another book in his arms. The Master Elf was taking him seriously. A little too serious but that was his fault for pushing him for information he didn't really need. Laying the books down on a table he followed Ives up the shelf for yet another book. But when he asked about the dead plants the Master Elf replied, "Yes, they've been like that for a while now. It is of no concern." Odom frowned as the Elf irritatedly pushed the dead, dried leaves out of his way to pull yet another book off the shelf and hand it to him. "Now how are you going to get down?" Ives asked him, his tone sounding unhappy. Taking a handful of the dried leaves into his hand he crumpled them in his palm then allowed them to fall in small pieces onto the floor. "I'm not sure but I've seen this in the forest and it seems to be spreading. I thought it was just in Mir but I found it in Dryhtwood Forest as well as other lands. I can't believe how bad it's gotten but it seems t be worse here than anywhere else," he informed Ives. "Not sure how you Elves see this but this is a very serious problem. How long have the plants here been dying like this?" Ives Beaumont

Ives turned his attention away from the kitten high up in the tree and to the man that had spoken to him. He gave him a stern glance, crossing his arms as somber blue eyes looked at him seriously. How he would have known what was happening at this library. True, Ives' powers did extend to other lands but the sole reason why the plants were dying here was because of his magic. His magic of plant knowledge absorption. Before he was infected with the plant, every time he would have a vision a plant grew, nearing toward him. It was the very reason why so many plants were within the library in the first place. After he was infected, his magic had ceased. His magic had price, for every time he had a vision he would be getting closer to death, however now he had not had any visions since the plant was somewhere within him. Though unlike Rook who had been infected previously, he had not shown any signs of being under the control of the plant, which had been quite perplexing to him. Nevertheless, he listened to the human speak, nearly sighing as he exhaled, looked down. Turning toward him his arms fell from his chest back down onto his sides. He then walked toward him.
"You're mistaken. They have just been dying here," he told him. And it was true for the most part, as it was only affected by his magic here. Though the hermit he was, he didn't know if the other places he traveled to had died from the same cause, but he assumed not. "Only recently," he replied shortly, placing a hand on his hip, leaning to the side slightly. "It is probably due to the fact that I have been busy and have not the time to take care of maintenance of the library. My assistant has gone missing, which had made the task a lot harder." He was speaking to him with a serious, irritated tone, but now he was getting into what had been bothering him recently. So this was his way of conversing, to pass the time perhaps. "I am unsure of what you speak of. Though I have not left this place in some time. What did you see exactly?" he then questioned, wondering if it was really true what he did. Though, Ives did lie to him about the reason why the plants in this library were dying. It was because of him. His magic was gone. Though, it would not be a concern for the elves he thought. But, if the plants were dying outside of the Grand Library and elsewhere. He wondered why...
