Larkin was bored. With nothing but time on her hands she had quickly devoured the books Felix had given her and even reread half of them again. She organized and reorganized the tiny cabin. Anything to waste some time and entertain herself just a little longer. There was an invisible perimeter around the cabin and it was one she never crossed. Any further and she would be stepping into the woods and out of range to bolt safely to the cabin. But on this day the tiny rabbit felt she was going to burst if she didn't do something new. Her mind was turning to mush just sitting there. [break][break] After much apprehension she decided to take a small walk, to widen her roaming territory just a little. She remained in human form, afraid that as a rabbit in unknown territory she could be easily snagged by a fox or bird of prey. Her bare feet stepped lightly as she moved down a tiny trail she stumbled across. Midday as it was she didn't see many creatures about. Small things here and there like a ground squirrel or a quail. But nothing large. It was convenient though to have such a well beaten path so close to home. It smelled strongly of deer...they must use it often. [break][break] A more experienced elf might know that wander on a game trail was dangerous. Hunters would litter them with traps, knowing it was frequented by their prey. She had yelped from being startled but now held her tongue. Afraid that whoever had made this thing would hear her and come. They couldn't be good if they set something like this. It hurt and the rope burned her skin. Maybe she could slip loose if she shifted? She would certainly be smaller. With her dress falling upward around her face like an inverted umbrella she struggled to shift. Her dress falling over her head as her body shrunk. But the noose simply followed the progression of her change. Getting smaller and tighter as she did. In the end she was still trapped but now wriggling helplessly with one brilliant white leg snagged in the rope. She jerked and writhed about in vain. Fear from being trapped settling deeply into her chest. This was bad...this was very bad. [break][break] She could see her dress on the ground far below her. See the rope that ran to the ground, using the large tree branches as a lever to keep her airborne. But she couldn't escape. Already her head was beginning to ache from the position. She could only hope that Felix was coming to visit her today.

I've wasted time, I've wasted breath This was a very simple job and one of course that he had picked up by pure chance. A woman had lost her steed as he had taken off leaving her. She luckily was at a small little village and he had happened to have over heard her story. For the right price he had agreed to go looking for the horse that was lucky to be alive at this point. He wondered what would have brought the woman clear out in the woods anyways let alone to be trusting a horse to not throw her at the very first sign of trouble. If there wasn't a path and the horse had a clear spook factor he was nine times out of ten walking the beast. No less it was an easy pay and it would be the first time in weeks since he had coin. Since he had of course..... Last seen Branwen.
That damn woman. He knew he should be mad at her but he couldn't even as he sat there and tried to think of all the negatives. Truthfully he just felt utterly foolish for trusting a wolf. That was like trusting a fox to not steal a chicken. It just was in the nature of some. No less he was wiser now and of course going to try and not be so gullible. He didn't really try to be it was just something about her drew him and once he was snagged by her hook there was no going back.
He continued on following the trail of what he thought was taking him straight to the horse. It hadn't been that hard of a thing to find. Animals were clumsy things and weren't very aware of what tracks they were leaving behind. All he needed was the area she was thrown. He walked along looking for any signs of a horse but what he saw instead of a dress in the middle of a trail. The dress was also bouncing around as if something was caught under it or rather in it. Heading towards it carefully not knowing what to expect he carefully moved to peer in and what met him was a stark white rabbit. "Looks like you are tangled." he said. His voice was quiet and soft as he moved on to his knees and got his small dagger out. "Hold still. I will cut you loose." He then moved carefully and grabbed the rope as close to her neck as possible but not trying to cut her. "almost got it." and then with that the rope snapped and she was loose. "there! free!" He sat back a bit on his ankles and scooped her up petting her head. She was soft and for a moment he completely forgot the fact she was in a dress.

Larkin could hear footsteps coming down the trail. The soft scuffing causing her tiny stubby ears to twitch about her aching skull. But the voice that greeted her and the scent that touched her nose wasn't Felix in the least. But another man entirely. She couldn't see very well suspended upside down as she was. But the bright green of his eyes was hard to miss. She froze when he pulled the dress away. The glint of a small dagger making a streak of fear shoot up her spine. What if he was one of the bad men who kept trying to find her? She was literally helpless. [break][break] When she was freed the tiny rabbit didn't immediately run. Instead she remained frozen. Her tiny ears swiveling to focus in on his soft voice. He was so gentle and soft spoken. Surely he couldn't be one of those men she had seen before. They were so harsh and crass. Her feet touched the ground but a moment before she was scooped into his arms. Large blue eyes focusing in on the handsome man whose fingers slid over her ivory fur in a way that made her want to purr. If she were a kitten. As it were the tension in her tiny body drained away and before long the tiny little furred nose was pushing against his palm to encourage him to pet her more. [break][break] Was he the hunter who had set the trap? It didn't seem fitting to free her if he was. Maybe he was just a wanderer? A traveler moving through the forest who thankfully spotted her? Her leg ached a little from the hard thrashing but she was all in all unhurt. It could have been much worse had she been left to dangle longer. Finally coming to the decision that this man couldn't be a bad man she spoke telepathically to him. Still nudging his hand and curling into the touch like a happy cat. [break][break] "Thank you for freeing me, sir. I don't know what I would have done had you not came along." [break][break] Dangled until the blood rushing to her head made her pass out, but that hardly seemed like a fitting thing to say.

I've wasted time, I've wasted breath The dress was long forgotten once he had the rabbit in his hands. Fingers rubbed and petted the smell head of the creature as he was in utter awe of how calm it seemed to be. Was it someones pet? He didn't even feel the muscles in the tiny creature as stiffened anymore. Soon the rabbit was almost rubbing into his fingers apparently liking the petting he was doing which made him grin like a fool. "Mm.." It was a nice distraction from his head and the thoughts that ran around it. At least that was until he was startled by a voice that rang loud in his head. Instantly he dropped the rabbit from his hands causing her to fall a very short distance to the ground."Shit!" once he realized what he had done however immediate regret replaced the shock. "Sorry, I didn't mean to drop you. Just shocked me a little bit." He leaned a little on his hands looking down at the rabbit. He should have known it was too good to be true for a wild rabbit to be as calm as she was. "and sorry for petting you." He felt rather silly now. Petting another person seemed in other words.... awkward. She was still a cute little thing and he couldn't help the very charmed feeling he got by such a small dwarfed rabbit. "I suppose that explains the dress then." he said looking back towards the crumpled material on the ground before back at her. "How long were you like that? I'm glad you are okay."
His fingers itched to pet her again. However, it was things like this that seemed to get him into trouble with were-animal... humans.... whatever they were. He couldn't help but be such an animal person. They relaxed him and was easy to be around. No less he sat backwards now. "This seems to be a silly place for a rabbit. You could have easily gotten snatched. What are you doing out here anyways?" He was prying. he knew he was prying but he couldn't stop himself from asking. "Oh hey have you happened to see a horse coming through?" Suddenly he remembered what he was initially doing before becoming ever distracted by the tiny thing.

Larkin was enjoying the attention, his fingers sliding over her fur sending tingles down her back. But as soon as she spoke the man jumped up and cursed. Causing her to tumble down the short distance to the ground below. She scrambled to get back on her feet and peered up at him nervously. Was he angry? Had she done something wrong? One tiny paw hovered in the air as if she were considering fleeing. But then he spoke again, an apology this time and Larkin sat he paw as well as he rump down. He was friendly then, just startled. A sudden talking rabbit would be a little startling in hind sight. [break][break] "I'm sorry I didn't mean to surprise you." At the apology for petting her the dwarfs rabbits pressed back and her skull lowered slightly with embarrassment. "Actually I enjoyed it...I'm sorry." As if enjoying his touch was something she should apologize for. But perhaps not letting him immediately know she was a werebeast was. She followed his gaze to the dress then looked back at him. "Not very long, you came right when my head was starting to ache." She would have smiled then had she been in elven form but being a rabbit her tiny ears just perked atop her skull and her little nose twitched. Whiskers dancing with excitement at meeting someone new. Someone who was apparently a kind soul. [break][break] At his questions and soft chastising Larkin's head tilted to the side a bit. She took no offense. It took quite a lot to offend her really and instead of reading into the comment she took it as a nice person just worrying about another. "I live near here, sort of. I decided to wander a little further than usual. The forest scares me so I normally stay close to the cabin but I was bored so-...." Her voice drifted away and she was thankful her furry cheeks would hide the blush that flooded her tiny body. She had been so foolish. [break][break] "A horse? No, I haven't. But I really wasn't here very long." Her head swiveled around and her little nose twitched as she sniffed the air. Horses had a strong smell to them, almost musky. She could still smell the traces of it here...but barely. "There was 'a' horse here though...probably a few hours ago. Its faint." Leaning forward on his hands as he was Larkin hopped closer until her tiny front paws could rest against his forearm as she stared up at him. "I can maybe help find your horse though. I'm just a rabbit but my nose works alright." She was certainly no canine or feline but scents would still be much stronger to her than a human. What she assumed the man to be. [break][break] "I'm Larkin." She stretched upward to sniff at him briefly before seeing how rude she was being and sitting down down on her tiny furry rump. Her leg still ached just a little but it should heal quickly enough. As Felix has told her even just being part werebeast she would heal faster than a normal elf or human.

I've wasted time, I've wasted breath He really enjoyed her soft fur. It was amazing how such a tiny thing could bring such comfort. His fingers were itching to pet her soft fur again but now that he knew she was an actual human it just seemed a little weird to him even if she confessed she was starting to like it. He chuckled at her confession, his bright eyes now turning deeper in green color. Such a warm spirit could really cheer just about anyone up. He was glad he ran into her. She seemed so cheerful and kind. It was people like her he needed to surround himself with and get rid of that bad vibes that seemed to be hassling him. "well I am glad you are not hurt." would have been pretty devistating to know she was or worse if it eventually ended her life. Even if there was the whole circle of life aspect the fact he learned she was human was just making the scenerio all the more worse.
Her next statement though kind of made him a little puzzled. "How do you 'sort of' live someplace?" he asked curiously. It was an odd thing to say because well it was either you did live there or you didn't not a middle ground of well maybe I do. "Or is that your way of saying you wandered a little too far and you are kinda lost?"
It was a bummer though that she hadn't seen a horse sauntering through. Just his luck the dumb thing probably got caught in one of these itself. If there is traps around in the area it was likely not that far fetched of an idea for the horse to get tangled into one. Her next idea was pretty brilliant though and he beamed a bit, perking a little as he leaned down to look at her. He felt pretty silly leaning over her like that since he didn't see himself as someone above her. she was his equal. "That would be great if you could help. I would really appreciate it, Larkin." he said. "You want me to pick you up? If... if you are okay with that." He found himself getting a little red faced. Yeah it was weird... really weird. She was a human even if right now she looked like an animal and the only person he had recently even had any contact with was well gone. She left him in her dust. He still didn't wanna cross boundaries he shouldn't.

Her head tilted to the side as he dug at her explanation. How to better say it? She did 'sort of' live there. But she sort of didn't also. She didn't imagine that giving him the actual details of why she was here would be appropriate or warranted so instead she tried to think of another way around it. "Temporarily...sorry...I'm horrible at explaining things." She scratched one of her ears with her back paw. At his question, her tiny furry skull bobbed. "Yes, please. I don't normally go this far...the forest scares me." Not to mention a bright white rabbit hopping down a well-beaten woodland path was a recipe for disaster. A fox could nab her before she even saw it coming. [break][break] If he would pick her up Larking would snuggle into his arm then stick her little nose out and upward to test the wind. "I think we should keep following this path." She didn't know where it might lead. Hopefully not somewhere dangerous. "Does your horse run away a lot?"
(sorry this is so short and crappy, trying to get back in the swing)
