Aislyn was delighted by the look on Lucia's face. She felt like it was a it difficult to shock the werecat and the look so near awe on her face was charming. She slid her arm around Lucia's waist, keeping her close as they looked out over the crowds. She shrugged a little at the question and pointed to the dark second story of the small building they stood next to. "I am living there, for the moment. I work in this shop." She indicated the wooden sign marked with a mortar and pestle hanging almost above their heads. "I make and sell medicines."
Her rose colored eyes were far more interested in watching the woman at her side than taking in the sights of the market but when she asked about dancing the were-elk's eyes shifted to the woman dancing nearby and then she shook her head with a somewhat sheepish smile.
"No- well, not really. On the solstices my mother used to insist that we dance naked by firelight in the woods. To remember where we come from. I haven't done it in... oh, ages." She laughed. Though concern still lingered in the back of her mind, she sought to find levity in the night and chase some of the darkness back from Lucia's eyes. She didn't like the look the woman had gotten earlier in the alley way.

Lucia couldn't read, at least not very well. Her education had been rather rushed and she had been lucky to receive what she had. But the sign Aislyn gestured to was the typical image for an apothecary. "Working here? Do you own this place?" Before when they had briefly discussed Aislyn's occupation she had felt ignorant. Now was no different. She was impressed by the skills and knowledge of the beautiful woman but at the same time she was reminded once again just how horribly she was lacking. The arm around her waist pulled her closer and an automatic purr rumbled from her chest, a soft contented sound that punctuated the lively atmosphere around them.
She stepped in closer and craned her neck so that her teeth could rake over the pale flesh of Aislyn's ear. "You must be very skilled." She left the compliment at that, not knowing what else to say that wouldn't sound selfish or self depreciating. In the back of her mind Lucia couldn't help but wonder how long she would be locked up this time. Feeling as if she would burst from her skin just thinking about it she forced the thoughts away. Her silver eyes unfocused until she forced her attention back to the elk at her side.
Dancing naked? Well that was something Lucia would like to see. "Oh?" She ask with curl of her plump lips, her silver eyes looking very predatory as she appraised the werebeast at her side. "That I would like to see." She was teasing of course. While she would like to see the sweet woman dancing around a fire naked and just the thought made her bite her lip. She wasn't great at sharing, perhaps it was the feline side of her. But she would have to gouge out many wandering eyes that would undoubtedly eat up such a sight.
"Can I see your home?" Lucia ask suddenly, her eyes moving way from Aislyn and to the small crowd. She couldn't say she would blame her if she didn't wish her to be there. Knowing Lucia's professions she might now think her desperate or deceitful. Not the type of person most welcomed into their home with open arms. It had been many years since Lucia had a place to call home that she wasn't forced into. Being raised by family that resented her for what she was hadn't been a home, they had always been afraid she would hurt their human children when she herself was but a kitten. "If not I understand." She felt the need to add on, uncharacteristically looking almost embarrassed by the question. Her silver eyes unwavering from the dancing woman and refusing to move to the pale woman at her side.

Aislyn shivered at the teeth that raked her ear, more attentive to the physical closeness of their bodies than of Lucia's actually words. She merely hummed a small sound of agreement. The cat's moment of distraction focused her a little though. Though he next words brought a smile to the were-elk's face there was a shadow behind it, a shadow of knowledge that until Lucia chose to change her situation it would never happen. This alone was risky enough and it bothered her to understand on a base level that Lucia would suffer for their night of daliance. Still, she had gone out of her own volition. Better to make the most of it, she supposed.
The next question didn't throw her at all. Indeed, the pale woman didn't even realize Lucia's hesitation, leaned a little closer to nuzzle along her jawline. Then she gave a slight shrug of her slim shoulders and steered the feline towards a narrow alley to the side of the shop. "I do not mind- my home is open to you whenever you like." She had no secrets nor even any valuables really besides the little loot of wars long past that formed her financial safety net and what she had earned in her time here. "I do not own the shop, only work in it for the moment. The owner had the means but not yet the knowledge to open it so I am tutoring him and working in it while he is apprenticing under other herbalists."
There was a small gate off the ally and she found a key to turn the iron lock. It swung open silently on well cared for hinges and beyond was a well ordered herb garden, overshadowed by a twisted old willow that overhung a small fountain. It was pleasant enough, but to Aislyn it was primarily work- the carefully tended rows, the the isolated pots of plants that would not do well in common beds. Red ribbons tied to small stakes marked the most dangerous of the plants. Aislyn led Lucia along a flagged path to the back door of the store, opening it with the same key that had opened the gate. The door opened to a room that smelled strongly of the drying plants that hung from the ceiling and immediately to one side was a narrow flight of stairs. Aislyn paused to light a candle though both their sights were relatively accustomed to the dark.
"It's pleasant enough, for a city home. I'm sure when I go back to the woods and mountains my own home will be a mess." She laughed softly. Though the house she had built was snug and secure, she didn't trust that some enterprising animal couldn't pry open the shudders. And human hands could even more easily break in, if they found it at all. She didn't begrudge any of these hypothetical intruders though. If they needed the use of her home they were welcome to it.

Lucia didn't know what she had expected when stepping into Aislyn's home. But the home that greeted her felt...lacking. Almost cold in comparison to the were that lived there. The strong scent of drying herbs made her nose twitch and Lucia rubbed it with the back of her hand. She was much more accustomed to the scent of strong perfumes that many of her companions wore than the soft natural scent of drying plants. It was different but after a few sniffs she realized it wasn't really unpleasant. Just...different.
Her feline attributes gave her the ability to see very well in near pitch black. Even before Aislyn lit the candle she was silently peering around the room without leaving her side. Curious but afraid of breaking something, treading somewhere she shouldn't. It had been a few years since she had been inside of an actual home. Even if this one was a combination of a shop and a home it was very different than the building she stayed inside. Lacking doors and windows. Always musty and dark. "Do you prefer it there? In the wilderness?" Lucia ask slowly, tentatively leaning in close to a low hanging plant to smell and immediately sneeze.
"It is kind of you to teach him, not many are willing to share what they know." Even when it came to minor things secrets were to be fiercely guarded. So just dallying out such powerful knowledge bordered on silly in Lucia's mind. But She was always worrying about earning coin so it was inevitable that her mind would work in such a way. Just allowing her to use his building hardly seemed sufficient payment but...oh well. "Were you...part of the war?" Lucia ask slowly while letting her fingers slide over the wrinkly dead petals of a flower. She didn't know why she had ask, it was hardly a topic for a lighthearted fun filled night. But she had asked all the same.

Aislyn smiled- the little sneeze was possibly the closest to 'adorable' that Lucia had come to being in her presence. Beautiful, seductive, charming- all these things Lucia had been, but 'cute' and 'adorable' had not been the kind of adjectives Aislyn would have used. The candle lit, she stepped towards the narrow wooden stairs. "The wilderness." Her response was immediate, without thought. "The city is good for many things but there's too many people breathing the same air and not enough space to run. This way."
She ascended the stairs to the small attic room that she called her own. There were small windows, open to the night breeze and the now more distant sounds of the market below. She set the candle on the small bedside table. There was a wash basin on the same table and a pitcher, next to a modest bed made up in faded linens. The sheets were rumpled, unmade. A cedar chest at the foot of the bed was propped open, the inside scattered with a few pieces of clothing careless tossed in. The only other furniture was bookcase that held a few tattered volumes. In addition to the books, it stored the satchel she often carried her medicines in and the leather roll that stored her surgeon's tools. One otherwise empty shelf held a scatter of bone beads and a few leather cords, a half-made trinket of some kind.
"The more people who know how to heal, the fewer people die." She shrugged off her share of knowledge as inconsequential. She wasn't self-conscious of the modest state of her home, only tugging the sheets a little straighter on the bed before she gestured for Lucia to sit, if she wanted. "Yes, I was. My father and brothers died as soldiers and when sickness took my mother, I found work as a field medic." She spoke about it easily. She had plenty of time to grieve for her family and to come to peace with the life she lived. The only burden that still sometimes burdened her in the night were the lives she could not save. And even those nights were scarce, soothed by her work with the living. She couldn't help those who were many years dead now. She could only try to do good in the future she'd been given.

The quick answer was unsurprising to the feline. She herself had never lived anywhere but in a city, even before she was taken and forced into this life she had lived with her aunts family and then scrounged around until Felix managed to snatch her one day. She followed Aislyn upstairs in silence, taking in the more personal quarters curiously. If she could ever settle down one day, escape the life she lived, she would want a lot of things. Not even expensive ones...just things. Trinkets, useless things, things that just appealed to her that she could clutter her home with. Things that were hers.
Lucia let her fingers trail over the wooden dresser and her eyes took upon a strange quality when Aislyn spoke. The more people she taught the fewer died. "People will always die." She said softly. For a moment the cat seemed very far away, her mind years and years away from where she was now. But all at once she blinked and snapped out of her memories. Seeing Aislyn gesture toward the bed she sat down upon it. Reaching up she would tug the elk's arm in an attempt to bring her to sit as well. "Do you ever do anything for yourself, Aislyn? You can't heal the world." Her words were spoken with a smile but there was a true curiosity beneath them.
She didn't see how someone so pure had survived this long. This world they lived in did not favor the kind or the good. Not in Lucia's experience anyway. Lucia leaned in then to nibble along the pale column of Aislyn's neck. Her loud purring immediately filling the room. "Or maybe I should just do things for you." Her hand moved to gently but firmly grasp Aislyn's shoulder, pushing it back to give her more access to the delectable skin of her neck. In an act that Lucia didn't plan or expect her fangs burst through her gums, the neck soft nibble turning into more of an actual bite. Immediately she would pull back, her fangs receding and a strange look coming to her face. "I'm..sorry." She was confused, the action had been unexpected. She didn't even remember making the conscious decision to do so.
She reached out to let her fingers slip over where she had bitten with worry in her eyes. "Are you alright?"

Aislyn settled down next to her, and answering smile playing on her lips. "Oh, I took many years to myself to heal when the war ended. But I can't very well hide in my woods forever now can I?" She lifted a hand to brush back a stray curl of silver hair from Lucia's face, then sliding over her neck and shoulder when she leaned closer, stroking over the cat's warm skin. Her head fell to the side, body responding like putty beneath the other woman's hands until the fangs tore the fragile skin. Then she jumped, startled, and a noise that was distinctly inhuman rose in her throat. When she met Lucia's eyes, hers were wide and dilated. Her skin flushed rosy.
Her hand rose on instinct to touch the bite, which was already beginning to heal. It had only bled a little, bright spots of scarlet on snowy skin. They smeared under her fingertips and she looked at her fingertips for a long moment before she gave a low, husky laugh. It sounded equal parts dreamy and surprised.
"No harm done, see?" With her thumb she wiped the blood away, revealing the pink healing skin beneath. Her blood pounded in her ears and yet she felt she could hear everything. It was like riding the line right before a shift, so close to the wild and yet not quite letting go.

Hiding in the woods sounds fantastic actually but Lucia didn't say as much. After the bite Lucia felt hyper alert. The tinge of blood on her tongue. Feeling her fangs sink into Aislyn's soft delicate skin, mmm... She was purring now. Loudly. And when Aislyn had only reacted with a startled sound then worked to reassure Lucia that she was alright the feline took it as a sign to continue. "I've never done that before..." She mumbled in an almost embarrassed way. Still purring like a happy cat all the while.
She leaned in again, her lips brushing the broken skin in an apology. Tongue slipping over it as if to clean away any remnants of blood away. But then there was a repeat of the earlier incident. Her fangs breaking free but this time of her own control. A growl rising in her throat as she moved in an attempt to push Aislyn back onto the bed. Her bite on the woman's neck releasing then if she hadn't already been pushed away. "I've never felt the urge up to now." Maybe it was the predator in her recognizing prey. It was the only explanation she could think of.

Her hands fluttered on Lucia's shoulders, light and questing as though she didn't quite know what to do with them as she allowed herself to be pressed back, eyes half closed. Her body shuddered as Lucia's teeth pressed again into her skin. She didn't exactly struggle but she couldn't help but squirm, as though she couldn't -not- struggle, even though she didn't truly object. Her fingers plucked at the fabric that kept her hands from the woman's skin, dancing down her back and urging her closer. When she pulled away, Aislyn blinked as though a little disoriented. The tip of her tongue ran out to wet her lips and her voice was breathy.
"I like it." The admission was simple, and for perhaps the first time a hint of true embarrassment showed on the elk's face, plain as day. She didn't meet Lucia's eyes, her heart still beating fast against her ribs. It was a hard thing to admit, that the fear and pain and scent of blood were to her as strong spirits or drugs. "Just... nothing that won't heal by morning." The words were hardly above a whisper. She glanced up to meet the cat's silver eyes, her gaze veiled by her snowy lashes. There was a different sort of fear lingering beneath the edges of the delicious prey-fear. This was a very human fear. Fear, perhaps, of Lucia's view of her changing for the worst.

At the admission and stipulation Lucia simply watched the other were from where she loomed above her. One atm on each side holding her up away from Aislyn's body. She appeared to be thinking of something, the mention of morning having made her mood plummet even with the thrilling events that were transpiring. "I should go back." She said quietly. Her silver eyes moving away from Aislyn's face and down to the tiny wounds on her neck that were healing as she spoke. "Someday...maybe I can see that house of yours thats away from the city." She grinned as she spoke, her voice coming across light and easy. But there was a mash of emotions in her head. Part of her wanted to stay, she would already be summarily punished for this. But by staying she was making it harder to leave. Every moment made her want to curl up on this bed with Aislyn's slender body pressed against her own and just forget the world for a few more hours.
She knew she would never see Aislyn's house. Her sort of people never escaped this life. They died. Her expiration was a very real thing. Swallowing back more words she wanted to say but shouldn't Lucia leaned down to press her lips to Aislyn's. Gently, tenderly. And then she was gone. Up on her feet and backing away from the bed. "Take care of yourself." She said softly, her silver eyes half covered by her eyelids. And then she turned away and hurried down the stairs. Through the door and back into the night air. She was thankful that she had a bit of a walk now. She needed to clear her head before she took her punishment.

Aislyn looked away when she spoke, chin tilting in the barest hint of a nod. Lucia's attempt at lightness didn't seem to reach her, though her voice held no condemnation or attempts to talk her into staying. "Of course."
There was little else to say. She pressed herself into the kiss, making it harder perhaps than the cat had intended. But her hands had fallen to the sheets and remained there. She did not attempt to restrain the other were as she left, did not even watch her go. Instead the elk slowly sat straight, drawing her legs up onto the bed until she was seated crosslegged. She wrapped her arms around herself. Rose eyes stared unseeing at the far wall until the sounds of the market below began to die and she was recalled to herself. Only then did she go down to the garden to shut the gates. She did not go back to her room. Instead she lit a lamp and busied herself in the work room.
She had stayed here too long.
