Adrian smiled and shook his head at his brother's words. "Well it does just happen if you knock someone up I suppose. I don't really have that issue, you see. Another perk of chasing men and not women." He winked although it was unlikely Felix would have seen it. A lion shifter? Adrian whistled softly. "Well then I'm glad you both had a place to run to. I always assumed you would go back to Niwetri eventually. Albeit under different circumstances." The conversation took another depressing dip after that but thankfully the cabin came into sight. One that Felix was familiar with.
He was a little unsure of releasing his brother but loosened his hold as Felix stumbled a bit but walked on his own. Following him dutifully into the tiny cabin that had been torn apart. All manner of books lay about, torn apart and in various stages of being stomped into ruin. Rotting strawberries sat on one shelf and emitted an unpleasant musty smell. A small bed sat on the far side of the room. Its sheets rumbled and a tiny smudge of a stain the color of rust drawing his eye. Adrian reached around his brother to grab a small wooden chair that had somehow survived the rampage. Leaning it up against the door as to wedge it there he turned back to Felix.
"You seem a little more lucid." He commented. Well aware that he was walking on eggshells. He didn't want to further upset Felix but he felt as if anything he said might. The man had a lot on his plate. "Is there any way I can help you out? Maybe with tracking down your rabbit....or your mate if thats what you want? Apparently one of both of them are twisting your heart pretty badly. I cant even remember the last time I saw you take a swing of ale."

He gave him a small smile and a nod. Niwetri was more of a home to him than anything they lived at with her their father. The fairies were more of a family than he was actually willing to admit. He had quite a few that still lived there that he affectionately called friends one being that old healer he took Larkin to see. ”I enjoy it there.” He said with a nod. ”They aren’t always the nicest company but they sure know how to knock you back into line if you skitter off too far.” he snickers. ”Pretty sure I still have a good bump on my head from that old healer.” The older woman meant well of course and if he were to ever bad mouth around her or treat Eriu unfairly, She’d let him know it….. even if half the time it wasn’t always him. The few he did know didn’t judge him on his hybridism but there was still always that few in the bunch that thought they had to put their two cents in even if it wasn’t asked for.
The sight of the cabin was a little bit of a hard one to take in because it had been home for a while. Being ripped from it as violently as they had been expected, of course, but not quite in the manner, it happened. Luckily the both of them had their clothes back on to his quick sense of smell. He swayed a little with walking but managed to keep upright all the way till getting into the cabin with the busted door. Blue eyes skittered around the room as he listened to Adrian speak after he wedged something against the door. ”It’s a sobering to be back here.” He picked up a dusty book and blew off some of the particles on it looking it over. His next set of words caused him to glance over his shoulder. ”My mate and I---…” he simply just shook his head no. ”I know where Larkin is. I’ll be fine…. If you don’t mind me hanging around for a day or two.” He tossed the book on the window seal which caused more dust to fly into the air. ”I could use the brother time.”

Adrian laughed softly about the healer, a wide smile splitting his face. "They are certainly an entertaining people." His help was turned down which made the tiniest hint of a smile come to the were's face. But what followed made him smile. "Of course its alright, I could use with some brother time myself. It's been a long time." Adrian shrugged out of the pack he always wore. The one that contained all he needed during his travels. He pulled a small bag of dehydrated orange slices that had been sprinkled with sugar, free from its confines as well as a skin of water. He pulled the top and took a drink of water then plopped down unceremoniously on the bed beside Felix. He offered him the food and drink, his nose wrinkling a bit mischievously. "I know that you're more of a carnivore but my goat self can only handle so much meat and I think Farkas forced enough of that down me as a child to do me a couple lifetimes." He grinned. Of course, it wasn't really a physical forcing him to eat it, it was just the majority of what they had to eat. Wolves and all that.
He crossed his legs in a relaxed way. Idly reaching down to pull a dusty book from the floor and blow the dust from it. He plopped a sweet dried slice of orange into his mouth and flicked open the cover of the book. Seeing several pages missing he sat it back on the floor. "She liked to read it looks like." He commended offhandedly then looked back to Felix. "You and your mate....if its so wonderful but also so volatile...what makes you think it cant be saved now that you are free of that place? Surely that had to affect you...."

Felix liked seeing his brothers smile. It was rather contagious and oddly made him smile even if he didn’t really feel like it. He gave a small snort and nodded. ”I would almost rather be one of them.” and then gave a smile entertained at the thought. ”You think I could sport some fairy wings?” Their people were his people despite obviously not being a fairy himself. He still felt as one of them. He definitely should have been born a fairy. He rubbed his chin though before pulling his eyes away glancing at everywhere else but Adrian. He didn’t like feeling like he was imposing in on his older brothers buisness. Why would he want the younger Volkov hanging around. He always did seem to drag him down into trouble even now as his brother waltzed upon him accidently.
Plopping down on the bed and he found himself leaning back a bit. A heaviness was starting to hit him. It was probably the sobering down slide he was starting to experience. He glanced as Adrian moved along beside him and said he would like the brother time and then started to dig around for something in his bag. Blue eyes remained on it curiously looking almost like a dog watching its owner for a treat. When he pulled it out it obviously wasn’t what his wolf would have wanted but he wouldn’t turn it down either. ”I don’t blame you.” He was sure their father thought that if he shoved enough meat down his throat he would somehow combat the goat and make a wolf. Oh how he was so wrong. He took a bit a couple and chewed on one thoughtfully his eyes moving from Adrian and back towards the door. He hoped since this place had been ransacked they wouldn’t go here looking again. They probably would at least think he had more sense than to return to a place he had already been found at but yet… here he was. He however didn’t want Adrian involved.
The sound of his brothers voice brought him back to the present with a blink of his eyes and looked back at him as he spoke about Larkin. ”Shes a curious one.” he nodded. ”Very unusual and thinks differently… honestly probably the thing I like most about her. Shes in a sense of a ‘breath of fresh air’ for me.” she doesn’t judge him. He had been faced with so much ridicule through his life and been a ‘terrible person’...He didn’t feel that pressure from her. She didn’t expect him to be something he wasn’t or see him as a screw up. Then Adrian brought up his mate and he gave a soft discontented sound. ”I don’t know. Not with Larkin around at least. We butt heads a lot…… despite all of that I want to be with her but I’ll kill her.” It was a long story that much he knew. ”I’ve already tried.” That was a whole other problem entirely that he had to learn to tackle. ”Not on purpose. I just don’t want a repeat of Eriu and Lux.”

Adrian gave Felix a long look, leaning back and stroking his chin as if contemplating what his brother would look like with wings. "As long as they were pink, fluffy maybe, I could see it." Adrian smiled when Felix took a couple slices, plopping one into his mouth Adrian leaned back on his elbows and crossed his legs. Obviously relaxed and just content to be having a conversation with his long 'lost' brother. Adrian looked over at Felix when he started to speak about the rabbit one, Larkin. Nodding along as he took another bite of orange. Clenching it between his thumb and fingers and tugging a bite away with his teeth. He pushed the bite into a pocket of his jaw and nodded. "That's probably why you're having so much trouble choosing between the two of them. Just because you love something 'about' the girl doesn't mean you love 'her'." Of course he didn't know the full story and could only comment on what he had been told. His shoulders rose is a sort of 'but what do I know' manner and he took another bite of orange.
Adrian looked over at Felix with a raised brow. "It sounds like you owe it to yourself, your mate, and this Larkin girl to give your mate a chance. Otherwise, you will always wonder what it would have been like if you would have, you will start to resent your rabbit because she isn't your mate. Don't be afraid of losing just because you try, that's how the greatest strides are made." He frowned momentarily at the mention of Eriu and Lux. "You 'almost' hurt them, Felix. Almost. You cant just deny yourself happiness because something could happen. If we all did that I would sit in a cabin all day instead of traveling these snow-covered mountains where I 'could' break a leg." It wasn't exactly the same of course, but it was the closest example he had.
Adrian's tongue ran over his lips, gathering any sweetness that lingered there. "Regardless of all that. I need to find a place to stay now that I'm back and since obviously father's mansion is out I will need to be on the hunt. Inns will bleed me dry financially in just a couple weeks." He made a soft humming noise in his throat as he contemplated his options. "I don't suppose wherever you're staying has room for a homeless goat, aye?"

”I think I could pull off some pink wings. Eh, Eriu and I would be twins even.” he snickered amused as he leaned and nudged his brother with his shoulder. It felt good to not have to worry or even really put up a mask. Adrian already knew everything he possibly could about Felix. Like Larkin, it was easy to just be himself. His eyes moved towards him and he nodded. ”Yeah. She just kind of reminded me of you probably why I stuck with her so hard.” which wasn’t a lie. Maybe not her mannerisms but just how so accepting of things she was. She wasn’t as breakable as one would think the bunny to be. You knock her down and she was back up brushing herself off. Yell at her and she would feel it for a brief moment before simply moving past it. Adrian had been that way with him. He supposed that was why he clung to her so bad. She was him without really being him and he needed that connection since his brother had disappeared without a word. However, he seemed to be back for now. ”Just next time if you end up going on a big adventure… Let me know?” He said looking at him. ”I was pretty sure you were dead.” Though he knew it took quite a bit to get that old goat knocked for a loop. Still, it was nice to know he wasn’t simply abandoned again.
His brother's advice definitely didn’t fall on deaf ears. Even if it seemed like he wasn’t listening, he was. He, however, had a different way of showing it especially with something as heavy as this topic. He kept his eyes adverted and an almost staring off look on his face. He knew Adrian was right. He shouldn’t stop her happiness or his own. ”yeah maybe.” he finally said after a long pause. Of course, Adrian would hopefully know it wasn’t something that went in one ear and out the other. The sweet taste of the fruit felt good on his dry tongue and of course, helped fill the pit had steadily started to get. His next question made him laugh a bit. ”I have a place, yeah. It's not used much but its the outskirts of cendra. Most don’t know about it but I kept it when I needed a place in between working.” he returned to it now and then it was a place not many knew he had and it was what he liked however for his brother he was willing to make an exception.

Adrian felt guilty at Felix's words but found a way to make the situation not as sad. "I love you too brother...I know I said I liked men but I draw the line at kin." He was joking of course, knowing Felix would never conceive such thoughts and gave his brothers shoulder a light shove. "You should know I'm hard to kill, cant keep this old goat down!" He sounds happy and exuberant but his voice dropped at the next statement. "I promise." Softer and more sincere.
A place near Cendra? That sounded good. Near the city and all. "I'm fine with things being a little rough. I sleep on the ground nearly every night. Just having a bed would be a nice change." He joked but in all honestly Adrian loved what he did. Making maps was tedious but at the same time he knew he was making a difference. Perhaps saving some soul from falling to their death or being killed by a sulfur pit.
"I may crash there for a while then, if you're alright with it of course." He inquired with a smile on his face.

The joke almost went completely over his head as he stared at him quizzically. Had he said something wrong or --- oh! He rolled his eyes and shoved him roughly on the shoulder. ”You aren’t my type, big bro. You carry too much packaging for my liking.” Not that even if Adrian had been a sister would he have caught his interest. However, he knew his brother was teasing him and attempting to put light on the matter. As he mentioned that it would take a whole lot to kill the goat as well as promising he would let him know he gave a nod of thanks. It would make it easier on him… or so he hoped anyway.
”Alright. Use it as you please and see fit.” he said as he now settled backward as well. He was getting tired. His body feeling heavy. ”Just be cautious of prying eyes…” primarily because of the king but maybe he won’t put the two and two together if he just continued to avoid that area as he had been. ” we can head there tomorrow at first light.” he yawned he was too exhausted to even try and drag himself on. His blue eyes were drifting shut. ”Its quite small but will get the---...” his words drifted at the end of the sentence.
