Her fingers continued to trail along the stone walls of his home as she charted her path. Trying to distinguish the corridor from the blurry tangle in her foggy memory was a task that seemed to be a loss. Well, just as much so as everything else in the past day. She paused, lips pressing together as she waited for a response. Just about to try again, his voice reached her ears. The stairs. That made sense. Some of the blurring steps seemed like they might’ve befit them. More certain, she continued to the stairs, hand catching the railing as she made her way to the source of his voice.
A small look crossed her features as his eyes darted away following his nod, but she immediately responded to his query. “I didn’t try it on yet, but it’s very pretty.” The lingering sensation of the fabric still settled against her fingertips. “It’s very nice.” She blinked at him a moment before her gaze settled on the couch from the night before. Hesitating with her steps at first, almost as if asking permission, she moved to sit.
She paused, her rear settling on the arm of the couch with his next question. The memory, coupled with the morning newness, very nearly caused her stomach to growl. One of her hands fidgeted, brushing her hair from her eyes. “I feel much better now, yes. Did you… sleep well?” The question came out of courtesy, bust also out of curiosity. How did kidnappers, let alone dragons, fare after such an event? Somehow she doubted he had shared her fatigue, both from the lack of guilt on his conscience and the lack of exhaustion brought through transformation.
