Occasionally, it felt good to get out of the city, away from the crowds and noise and the loneliness one sometimes feels in a crowd. Osric often felt the need to get away to a more remote area, and tonight the urge had been overwhelming. After everyone had fallen asleep, he had saddled his horse, Challenger, and ridden out to the fallen city ruins. Once there, he tethered the destrier to a post and gone off on his own, walking at his own pace. He considered momentarily shifting into his wolf form but decided it was risky; he didn't know if anyone was watching him or not. He couldn't risk being exposed. Instead, he simply walked in his more human shape, taking in the silence of the night and the peace that was associated with a quiet night.

the night air was still, in her opinion, too still. It made her deer feel anxious and yet the human side reveled in the peace the shadows the night gave. As she sat on the ground, her legs tucked beneath her, blond strands of hair fell from around her hood. Fingers worked the pieces of grass together working them to form a bowl shape that was deep. Every so often bright blue eyes would lift towards the small stream in front of her before lowering back down to her workings. She was aiming to catch fish if there was any sign of life in these waters. Her stomach growled and snarled and since she hadn't quite made her place in the cities she stuck to the more serene areas. It did nothing for jobs and to be fair not many were looking for her type of work.
It was okay. The idea if trying to jump back in and work with people sounded terrifying. She lived in a small colony with rabbits for so long that had secluded themselves that she perhaps forgot how to politely interact with most people. So she made up her mind that she would go when the time suited her best.
The cool breeze of the night felt like needles to her long thin fingers that were exposed to the night air. It probably would have been smart to have started a fire first but she was on the side of caution she didn't know what kind of beasts lurked out in these parts. She hummed quietly to herself though the deer in her begged her to be quiet a she could pay attention to her surroundings but she felt oddly juvinated by the pale light of her surroundings.
That was until she caught scent of a predator near by. All humming stopped and she snapped her head in the direction the smell come from. Stalk still the basket steadily fell from her fingers anod her breathing became light but testing the air. "h-hello? Someone there?" nimble fingers grabbed at the blade on her side. "please show yourself. "[\b] yeah asking a predator to show itself.... Not one of her more brilliant ideas. [/b][/b][/blockquote]

Osric smelled the other werebeast before he heard her call. Frowning slightly, he drew his blade and approached where he had ascertained her to be, his steps slow and measured. When he saw her, he stared for a moment, gauging whether or not she was a threat. "Good evening," he said smoothly, still watching her carefully. He had learned long ago never to trust that someone was weak just by their looks; this woman could very well be a threat. Mostly she just looked frightened.

Her fingers tightened on her blade as she saw the dark strong figure of a man head out from the shadows. She couldn’t tell what type of predator he was but she knew she smelt it. The smell of a meat eater lingered on him. He spoke and she gave a small nod of her head but feeling completely vulnerable she stood up from her spot. ”Is this your spot? I hadn’t meant to intrude.” She wasn’t entirely sure if she accidentally stumbled upon some place that had been claimed, it was easily overlooked. She didn’t pay much attention to her surroundings. Tucking strands of blond hair behind her ear while tugging her hood a bit more on her head. Eying the blade he had grabbed ahold of she cleared her throat and shifted a bit on her feet. The basket had been long since forgotten. The snarling in her stomach was also a distant memory. All she could think about was what if he decided to use that blade on her? ”I don’t mean any harm, sir.” she nodded her head towards the hand that held the weapon. ”I can leave if you need me to.” Her body was tense as she kept watching him ready to dark the opposite direction at the first sign of trouble. She shouldn’t be so scared of other people but people were the very thing she attempted to stay away from. Some were terrible beings and have had said terrible things to her once before. It would be nice to meet a friendly face for once. Backing up a bit her long fingers still around her blade but didn’t draw it. It was more out of self-protection instinct.

The girl's posture was entirely defensive and not offensive, so Osric figured she wasn't much of a threat. Realizing he still had his sword drawn, he sheathed it and offered a small smile. "No, it's not my spot. Just figured I would show myself at your request." He adjusted his boiled leather armor and then scratched at his beard, watching the girl all the while. "No need to leave. I was just passing through. Sorry if I frightened you." Standing awkwardly, he wondered if he should leave but was curious to learn more about this girl.

She gave him a weak smile and nod. Her posture started to lessen a bit but fingers still remained on the hilt of her blade. He, however, seemed to have picked up on that and steadily resheathed his. After a moment she pulled her hand away and crossed her arms over her chest. She wasn’t sure what to do from here or if she should just continue with what she was doing. He said there was no reason to leave and so she would take that as a possible okay with her sticking around. ”I was just trying to catch from fish…” not having a pole it made things a little difficult but she would manage. ”Uh... W-what are you doing out here if you don’t mind me asking?” she chuckled a little nervously. ”I mean most people don’t go trekking out at night... really.” though she knew he wasn’t just a person. He was some kind of predator. Was he hunting? ”You-you don’t have to answer that. Sorry. That was awful nibby of me.” She glanced down at her feet. She tended to ask questions before she really thought them through on whether that was a truthfully a need to know basis. This obviously was none of her business.

Osric waved a hand flippantly. "Relax, I don't bite," he said, giving a rueful grin. "I'm sure you know by now what I am. I hope I can trouble you to keep that to yourself. It might be a problem, as you can believe." As a werebeast herself, she surely knew what humans thought of them, and in his particular circumstances as a knight, it was surely more risky for people knowing what he was. He settled down on a rock, a decent bit away from her so as not to seem dangerous. Prey-types were always nervous around predatorial ones. "Fish, huh? Without a pole? Best of luck." She asked what he was doing out here and he gave a smile. "No problem. I don't mind answering .For someone who lives in the city, the night air outside of the city feels much more relaxing. I was simply walking to get my mind off the troubles of living with so many people pressing in around me."

She stiffened at his joke but allowed a hesitant smile to press on her lips and a nod given. ”Secrets safe with me.” she said and as if it emphasizes the matter she made the communal ‘cross my heart’ sign. Blue eyes followed him as he fell into a comfortable sit on a nearby rock and it was then she willed herself to move out of her deer stare stance. She shouldn’t be so quick to trust but she was trying. At his good luck, she chuckled softly. ”Thanks. I will probably need it anyhow.” She could be lucky to get the small ones if there was anything living in those waters. Bending and picking up the basket she moved to the water's edge and glanced over her shoulder a moment as he spoke once more. Oh, how right he was. ”It's a perfect night. I will give you that.” Holding the basket in one hand she moved a bit into the water, her skirt being held up a bit in the front though it didn’t do much in way of keeping it from getting wet. It was more of a way to make walking in the water easier for her so she didn’t trip. Sinking the basket she would let it sit for a few and maybe with a leap of faith get something edible caught in it. Making her way back towards the shore she tugged the hood off of her head and pulled her long blond locks to one side sitting on the ground and steadily making way for a fire. ”I assume you want to keep your animal hidden because of the racism we have in this century but you seem far more important than just a simple person.” she said as she lifted blue eyes to gaze at him again. Giving a small blow as smoke started she nestled it until a small cherry formed and moved it to make for a bigger fire. Feeding the flames, she pulled her knees towards her chest. ”At least your attire states so.”

Osric watched with interest as she fished out a few small fish from the stream. He was impressed despite himself; his knight training had had a minimum amount of survival training involved but it had been so long he doubted he could do very much- in his human form, at least. In his wolf form, he would be just fine with surviving. Just not fishing. "I appreciate your willingness to keep my secret." He still wasn't sure whether he should have showed himself; she knew his face now and could easily tell the king what he was. But somehow, he doubted she would. And what would be the harm in telling her his identity further? Pressing a hand to his heart and bowing slightly from his seated position, he gave a small smile. "Sir Osric, at your service. I'm a knight. In my case, being caught would be a matter of deciding whether they would throw me in the dungeon for my dishonesty or just killing me." Privately, he hoped that the new king, with whom he had trained as knights, would be more understanding and not kill him, or perhaps not punish him at all. Wishful thinking.
"And what about you? Do you live out here? I don't think I've ever seen you around the city before. And I would remember such a pretty face." He gave a charming grin.

She wasn’t sure who she would have told anyway. So she just smiled and kindly nodded her head though she was troubled by his words. Why would a knight being dishonest to mean he would end up in a dungeon? ”But aren’t knights supposed to be brave for their king? And why would …. What you are be a problem?” little did she know that he was the human king's knight and that meant he was a traitorous beast among them. From the happenings, at a recently held ball, the werebeasts and mages were the ones to be blamed for all the deaths that had taken place. Such a terrible thing.
His next question had her shaking her head. She didn’t really live anywhere if she were being honest. ”No. I don’t.” but that would be all the information she would willing to give. A knight didn’t have to know she was homeless and feel pity for her. She did her best to hide the flushing on her face though at his compliment. A pretty face. It was a nice gesture sure but she had it said to her one too many times always, in the end, the other party wanting more than what she was willing to give. ”I am just passing through is all and decided to rest here.” Her words were soft-spoken though blue eyes now avoided fully looking at the knight afore her. ”I was thinking of heading to Niwetri.” the fairies were well known to be mischievous things but their good-hearted spirit and open nature were what drew her. Besides who didn’t want to see a pink forest? "Have you ever been to Niwetri?"

Osric watched her with a slightly puzzled expression. Surely she knew of the racism against werebeasts in the human kingdom? But perhaps she did not. After all, she didn't seem like she was used to being around other people. "They think I am a human," he replied flatly, studying her face for a reaction. The conversation moved on to her being here, and Osric nodded as she denied living here. "A traveler, eh? You must have seen some interesting things. I mostly stay in the human kingdom myself, but occasionally I get to travel outside of it." He scratched his head idly as she asked if he had ever been to the fae forest. "No, I can't say I have," he said with a rueful grin. "Though I don't see what's wrong with good old-fashioned green forests." It was mostly a joke; he had always wanted to travel to far-off places and see interesting new things.
