This was madness. Not that Radulfr would care otherwise, it was just the fact that Wryn could be in danger. Pushing his way through the crowd, he shoved and pressed hard against the other gladiators as they flooded toward the exit. He had to get to Wryn first before something happened to her. He knew that she could take care of herself, however he just had to know that she was safe. Were she not in potential danger from the ones who seemingly murdered the royals, one would have to worry about the stampeding crowd. Who knows maybe she was fleeing as well. Maybe even worse, he feared they would be separated even after the gladiator tournament ended. As he crashed his way through the crowd, he could see the exit up ahead. The light that shown through the underground chambers as the many heads headed in that direction. Without any care for the people around him Radulfr pushed and shoved with a hardness unlike any other, hasting toward the opening. The silver glint of his helmet stood out amongst the others as he looked forward. Even the spectators were trying to make their way into the chambers as they thought it would be safer than up in the seating. As he occasionally poked his head up above the wave of people, they eventually collided. Apparently, the gladiators couldn't get to the outside. What was happening? He pushed a few more away, his gloved hand pushing the other's heads and shoulders as he carved his own path through.
But then he hit something. Like slamming into an invisible wall, he stood and looked to the side. Others were trying to get through as well, and their terrified expressions as the realization hit. The spectators however were fleeing into the underground chambers, some hesitantly but they were then pushed by the rest behind them. The flood was over impacting, pushing the rest of the gladiators further back. But as some spectators turned around to escape in the opposite direction, they too were met with the invisible wall. Radulfr fought against the incoming swarm of people, occasionally dodging side to side as they rushed past. "Wryn!!!" he roared as he tore past the others, hoping that she would at least be able to hear. He did not care for the incoming people as he roughly pushed them to the side. There had to be a way to get past this thing. As he could feel himself being pushed back by the incomers, one harshly bumped into his shoulder making him stumble backward. Nevertheless he continued onward, making his way back where he was before. He could feel the wall again, and he slammed his fists against it as he banged onto it. "Wryn!" he called once more, however it was short lived as someone headed into him headfirst, forcing him back and away from the invisible force field. Then other spectators had stopped, noticing the fact that whoever entered could not escape. More were halting, and words had been shouted that apparently this would be all over until the gladiators finished fighting. Until the fight was won. But until then no one could escape the underground chamber. This caused many of the spectators to cease their entry, but those who entered already were trying to find a way to safety elsewhere. Only Radulfr stayed along with a few others along the border of the force field, seeing a few spectators on the opposite side as they debated their escape. But that wasn't his main priority. He just had to make sure that Wryn was alright.
An hour had past and the corridor had emptied. Yet Radulfr stayed. There had to be a way he could get past the field, or at least see any sight of the blonde-haired human. Occasionally he beat his fists against it, but it was futile. "What the hell is this thing?!" he shouted, but none cared as he then punched it out of anger. Majority of the others had left by then, accepting their fate as they either tried to search for the culprit or continue the battles. But he wasn't going to give up until he knew where Wryn was. Standing there defeatedly, Radulfr continued to look at the invisible wall, wondering if she would even thought to head down here.

Success. Rad had won the first round. Wryn had cheered as loud as she could. Screamed for him until her throat was raw because she was the only one who would. Rad was certainly not a favorite. But he was hers. The events had taken a deathly turn. Murders, deaths cropping up here and there. There was skepticism, fear. The people ran and Wryn was pushed along with them. Something prevented them from leaving. It was invisible but solid as stone. Seeing this exit as void they had turned then to anywhere else to run. A large part of the crowd trying to funnel into the underground.
Wryn wasn't a fool. She also didn't like the idea of being forced underground like rats into holes. So while the crowd pushed her along she had reached a hand up to grab some railing. She pulled herself upward, climbing above the rippling mass of bodies that moved like a tidal wave. She stayed there with her green eyes watching for Rad. Noting as some returned that they were yelling about others not being able to escape the tunnels now. Whoever or whatever was keeping here apparently did not want them getting out just yet.
Once most of the crowd was gone, funneled into the tunnel and other locations as they searched for an exit. Wryn had hopped down and strode toward the underground passage. Stopping a short distance away in fear of slipping through the invisible barrier and not being able to return. It was there that she would see a familiar armor clad form pacing back and forth like a caged animal. "Rad!" She called out to him, wanting to go closer but afraid. If they were both trapped down there then neither of them could try to do anything about whatever this was. "Rad are you ok? You aren't hurt are you?"

It was chaos. People moved like water through the tunnels, pushing, shoving and trampling one another like animals. It was a sight sadly all too familiar to the hybrid, from back in the day when she was a slave to the dragons' cause. Fellow captives had reacted much in the same manner upon learning they'd be shoved to the forefront of any troops, sure to die as cannon fodder. They trampled eachother to try to escape, though such was never possible.
Ruth kept calm, and thankfully her freakish appearance was useful for once. People naturally avoided her, what with her large dragon wings and tail, making it easy for her to stay in less crowded areas. As she nearly always did, the warrior woman began barking orders at people, booming voice cutting through some of the noise. Some obeyed instantly, while others hesitated until she gave them a brief display of fire.
Eventually, the panic came under control, and Ruth spent the next hour getting wounded to whatever healers stepped up to do their duty. She didn't bother coming to the barrier right away, though news of it have reached her ears. Apparently people could pile into the chambers, but they couldn't get out.
After some time, she wrapped up giving aid to guards and the populace in general, and made her way over to the exit. Few desperate souls lingered there still, some huddled against the barrier in despair, other pacing and not knowing what to do with themselves. One man, armored to the teeth, still thought he could get through by slamming his fist against the magical wall. Ruth shook her head at the lot of them, and stepped up to the invisible barrier.
The half-elf could feel the magic running through it, and it was unlike anything she'd ever felt. She pressed one onyx-clawed hand against it, and the power sent a brief shiver through her. Probably nothing could break through that, not even her strong elemental magic, though she was determined to still try. Many have done so already, but rarely who had quite the magical muscle that she did. Aside from the mages, but they were all still topside to her knowledge.
First things first, though. As the man not far off from her questioned what this thing was, Ruth lit a tiny flame upon an open palm near the barrier. The fire flickered wildly, and it brought a satisfied grunt from the warrior woman. There was a draft, which meant the air was circulating. That was good, for she didn't want to let loose with fire and spend all their breathing air down here.
Extinguishing the fire, something else drew her attention then. A young blonde woman approached from the other side, and upon spotting the armored man began asking questions, clearly worried. Suddenly, the man's fruitless banging against the barrier made sense. For a split second, Ruth felt a pang of jealousy towards the pair, knowing that none out there in the world were worried for her like they seemed for eachother.
A long time ago, she had given up her freedom for her children and husband. And while she could understand her kids moving on to call another woman mother, it was an entirely different blow to learn her husband had never even tried to come back for her.
It sure stung to recall that. But there were more important things at hand.
Ruth shoved her bitter memories away, and focused. Her amber eyes swept over to the young woman, narrowing. "Watch your step, girl." Ruth called out a warning. "You get in here, and you won't be able to leave." She said with a stern nod. Perhaps the blonde knew that already, but she couldn't be too sure, and it certainly wouldn't hurt to repeat.
With that said, Ruth stepped away from the barrier, gaze sweeping over the people nearby. Where she stood turned out to be the clearest portion of the magical wall, but it still wasn't enough. If Ruth threw all her fire at it and it splashed instead of breaking through, the flames were sure to engulf the armored man near her. Considering he was all but covered with metal, that wouldn't be a pleasant experience.
So, Ruth turned to him. "You. Rad." She demanded his attention. "Take a few steps that way." She gestured with one clawed hand away from herself. "Otherwise my flames might catch you."

He looked up in surprise to see a familiar blonde. She was the least thing he had expected to see when the crowd had cleared. "Wryn!" he said with relief, nearing the barrier immediately almost forgetting that it was there. The tint in his blue eye glimmered with solace as he looked at her from behind the invisible wall, placing a hand upon it. She was safe, or so she appeared to be. But they were here now, together. He was glad that she hadn't been taken away from him again. But just as the feeling of relief washed over him, secretly hiding a smile from underneath his mask, another had approached. Looking away from Wryn and toward the other woman, his demeanor changed, from that of glee back to his normal state. His eye no longer looked happy as it was within that brief moment upon seeing that Wryn was alright. It returned to his serious, business-like state, and he glanced at the woman as he turned and crossing his arms, stepping away from the barrier briefly. Though he hadn't expected to see anything like what she was. Horns protruding out from her head, wings behind her back, this was no ordinary fae. In fact, she looked completely different from anything he had ever seen. She might have not even been a fae. She was right however. If Wryn was to go inside the barrier with him, that meant she wouldn't be able to get out. That was her choice, but for now Radulfr was stuck. His eye averted back to her, as almost in agreement with the horned lady.
Then it shifted back to the woman as she spoke to him. He didn't take orders from anyone, not without getting paid. However he reluctantly obliged, but she didn't need to tell him that, as he stepped further back away from the wall as she cast it to flames. That was no ordinary magic, if anything her claws made her look more like a... dragon, than anything else. Not really knowing or caring what she was, he just watched with his arms still crossed as he saw the flames licking at the magic barrier, but no damage was done. The fire was loud and roared as it cackled near them, however it wasn't enough to break through the powerful wall. He looked on, unamused. He knew that Wryn wouldn't get hurt by her attacks, fortunately. A few moments later as the flames still ate at the barrier... nothing happened. "Well that was useless," he said rather bluntly, as if he knew that the fire wouldn't devour the barrier. Turning toward the dragon-looking warrior once more, his hands dropped to his sides. He didn't recognize her from anywhere here before, not even in the matches, but he didn't really pay attention to them in the first place. Whether he had to face her next or not... he didn't know. But he doubted the possibility, as there were many combatants in this tournament. But, she looked like a rather tough fight to battle against.
But he wasn't going to just sit here waiting around for the magic barrier to disintegrate by itself. However, just knowing that Wryn was free from harm, there wasn't much else he would rather do. To find whoever did this or not... wasn't top of his priorities but the longer the barrier was up, the lesser the chance that the tournament was going to continue. He needed the coin, that's what he came here for, but now was not the time to think of that. Instead he could just wait around here with Wryn... but that wouldn't accomplish much. It would be even worse if whoever did this, came and tried to grab her from the other side. That... now that would make him angry. Though it was unlikely that would happen, one could never be too cautious. But now this would take long for him to be in the next match. That was enough time wasted and he would much rather get it over with. Nearly stopping himself from sighing, he spoke to the other woman. "Whoever did this... if they find them then we'd be free," he said in monotone. "If we get to them first..." He wondered what would happen if they did. Would they get paid if they did so? Was there some sort of reward on their head? Then that'd be easy, but the more important thing was that he would be able to fight again and win, and that Wryn was safe. So indeed it was still the same goal. "Maybe that's a way it can be taken down," he then said, eye again averting to the barrier. He then turned to Wryn, knowing that most likely she didn't come into the now fiery blockade. "Wryn, they may be on the other side but..." But she may be in danger if that was the case. If it was then he'd much prefer she be in there with them. On the other hand, the danger could be from within. "They might be in here as well, and you can't escape if they are." He looked at her dead in the eye. "You choose." Perhaps whatever she did, might influence what action he would take. To even go out and search for the killer, he wouldn't mind just sitting here and waiting for it to go down on its own if it meant that she was safe. Though to be together, or to split up if they do, that would be the real question.

He seemed to be alright and that was a relief to her. She smiled faintly when he returned her calling but turned her green eyes to the bizarre winged woman who appeared at his side. Wryn had never seen a hybrid...at least not someone that was obviously one. It was a little frightening honestly. She looked rather fearsome. "I know." She called back to her. "I don't want to come inside if I can help by being out here." She answered the two of them while worrying her lip with her teeth. A blast of fire made her step even further back from the wall. But even that didn't break through.
It was oddly quiet on her side, most people had passed through the barrier and were now unable to return. Wryn waited until the flames died down and walked toward the two of them. Feeling only an odd coolness spread across her skin as she stepped through. Immediately she wrapped her arms around the armor clad Rad in a quick hug before she stepped back. Green eyes shifting to the stranger with the dragon like qualities.
"But I don't want to get picked off out there because I was alone either... does anyone know what happened?"

Rad did as he was told, which was good. Ruth eyed the barrier for a moment, assessing it one last time before she unleashed her magic. Stepping back and reaching two arms forward, she summoned a torrent of fire from each limb, bright yellow flames spilling forth. They crackled and splashed against the barrier, growing brighter and turning cyan with the half-dragon's will. It gave the whole room a light, eerie sheen, the flames illuminating the place even as they licked at the barrier.
After about ten seconds of that spectacle, Ruth halted her magic, letting the flames die out. It was no use. The barrier didn't so much as flicker under her attack. Whoever made it did a spectacular job of it, so much so her powerful magic didn't even scratch the enchantment. Then again, Ruth was always a woman of brute force, never seeing the value of studying magic the way mages do. To her, her flames and earth were just like her blade – weapons to be wielded and trained with.
Ruth wiped at her forehead with a sleeve, removing a bit of sweat she'd gained from her efforts. She was about to continue testing, when Rad spoke, giving her a rather blunt comment. It made her roll her eyes at the boy, turning to glare at him. "Yes. Because pounding your fist against it was much more productive." She snapped, amber gaze drilling into him, telling him to keep his witty comments to himself without her saying as much. He better not run his mouth is he knew what was good for him.
Sighing, Ruth ran a hand through her brown hair, untangling a strand from her horns. It was hard to tell whether the blonde girl would be better off in here, or out there. In here, she would perhaps be safer. That much the hybrid would see to personally, but still. There were countless powerful combatants down here, and as strong as she was, she was still defeated in the very first round. Out there however, Wryn would be on her own by the looks of it, but she could hide among the other spectators for safety.
Bottom-line, nowhere was safe, so Ruth kept silent and let the girl choose for herself.
She did, stepping through the barrier to give the armored man a hug. After looking her over for any evident injuries, Ruth gave her a stern nod, both to show her approval of her uninjured state and to her decision.
"You two are better off finding some place safe until this whole thing blows over." Ruth told them both, though her golden gaze lingered on the armored lad. "Especially if you have more battles to attend to, Rad. Galavanting off to find the murderer will only increase your chances of getting injured." She said, then eyed the blonde for a moment, pondering her question. "Apparently, there's an assassin on the loose. Some royalty got killed, among others, and someone sprang this barrier up."
The half-dragon ran a clawed hand idly over the invisible wall. "I'm presuming the mages, though why they made it possible to walk in is beyond me. This whole thing reeks." She said, nose scrunching up as though something literally smelled.

He looked down at Wryn as she entered, her arms drawn around him causing him to drop his own, however they remained at his sides as she did so, not entirely returning the hug. However the look in his eye was a mixture of confusion, yet relief. His eye then lifted to the other woman. She had a point, he had much more important things to worry about. Like winning the tournament. But if Wryn was here, close by, at least she would be safe. Heck, maybe this person could even help protect her if it came down to it. For that Radulfr perhaps might be grateful... if he could ever have a feeling of that sort. But, at least Wryn wouldn't be lost. Not anymore after so much that had happened. He continued to stare at the winged lady until she was done speaking. He couldn't care less about who caused this mess. All that mattered was that Wryn was safe. And he had his chances of winning the prize money.
Giving the hybrid one final glance, he held Wryn by her shoulder for an instant. "Let's go," he said, continuing to look at the woman. Perhaps a look of thankfulness, or even intrigue hinted in his eye, but he didn't say anything more as he turned around, headed toward the rest of the Underground Chamber where they would do who knows what. All that mattered now was that he had to win. Even though all the chaos around them had made it seem unlikely.
