In his several millennia of life, Khaal has forgotten the appeal of gardens. Sure, there were some interesting plants, but once you've seen one garden, you've seen them all. It was supposed to be a quiet place for nobles to converse as they walked, and he vaguely remembered doing so a long, long time ago. However, once his madness took a firm hold of him, quiet places of any kind became his bane, for the man ran desperately from his past. Future was important, and the now. It was where all the fun was, after all. Pondering the past only left the ancient man with sorrows, and he had more than enough of those.
Still, every once in a while he was drawn to one of these places. Khaal paused to eye a flower, one of many decorating the place. He recognized it as a begonia, a light pink variety of it, very common and a favorite of gardeners. With a light shrug of his shoulders, he plucked the little thing along with a bit of stem, and tucked it into a pocket of his vest. As always, the man appeared immaculate and noble, with the finest dark blue vest and his favorite cloak, both embroidered with silver thread.
With his miniature destruction done, the man walked along, down dull pathways and mind-numbingly well trimmed hedges, until he spotted someone else in the garden. Short, clearly a dwarf, she seemed out of place in the human court to him, though she clearly was of noble birth. Perhaps it was her posture, or perhaps the fact he didn't know who she was, not that he kept up with such things. Nobles come and go so swiftly, Khaal eventually stopped bothering to learn all their names and lineages, unless they were particularly interesting.
Having little else to do, the immortal tsked at his decision to come to such a boring place, and began walking towards the woman, a pleasant smile upon his face.
"Greetings, milady." Khaal purred. "I don't believe I've had the pleasure of making your acquaintance. Allow me to introduce myself." He said, and gave her a gentlemanly bow. "My name is Khaalius Sandrus."

Gardens were green, filled with fresh air and enough flowers and plants to entertain a noble lady for hours. It was a place to go and lose yourself in the beauty of it all. As winter approached the gardens withered and gave way to the few flowers which bloomed in the winter months. Among the green and floral a lady of short stature moved with such grace, that she might rival the elegant human ladies, which ruled the court in Emberi. The dwarf was clad in soft violet and white. Her dress covered her back, opened up in the front in a minor v-neck, it was fitted to her upper body but the soft and light material flowed around her legs in beautiful waves with the wind. The sleeves were sheer violet with small pearls decorating them. The bottom was embroidered with white thread in swirling patterns. It was by no means an evening gown for feasts, but the small, simple amethyst earrings and necklace made the outfit show off her status nonetheless.
Aidana hadn't been outside for many days, sick with a fever and a bite wound on her thigh, which almost reached to below her knee, had had her fighting for her life for a while, until a mage had been summoned to help speed the healing along. She still walked with a small limp, but she would have gone mad, had she stayed any longer in the small room she had been moved to. It had been an insult and yet a necessary action, since she would rather be in smaller quarters than live closer to the castles humans after the events at the ball.
The dwarf stopped to gaze upon a late blooming summer-flower. A beauty. A gentle smile played on her lips as she turned and shortly after her leisurely walk was continued, she was interrupted by a voice. She stopped and turned toward the stranger. Her gaze already lifted to meet the stranger. And then she had to lift it even higher. Her soft, brown eyes finally able to catch the strangers eyes. As he bowed a gentle and yet beaming smile played on her lips.
"Greetings Sir Khaalius Sandrus. The pleasure is all mine, Sir. " She curtsied the best she could with her one leg being injured. "I am Aidana Barashiel. "
She didn't bother with her title, she assumed he knew her by name, as most did. However, she wouldn't mind if the handsome, tall man didn't. It demanded she made small talk about the ball and her health among other things concerning the court.

The woman smiled as he bowed, and returned the gesture in kind, providing her name. Khaal couldn't help noticing the slight awkwardness of her motion, as though something bothered the woman enough so she couldn't manage an otherwise perfect curtsy. That raised an eyebrow upon the immortal's face, an unspoken question in his blue eyes. He said nothing about it yet, though, as it would be rude to leap right into personal questions.
Khaal was nothing if not a gentleman. When he wanted to be one, that is.
"Aidana Barashiel." The immortal tested the name, recognition flickering into his voice. "I knew a Barashiel once, though that was many a centuries ago." He said, giving voice to his thoughts. He tsked at himself a moment later, shaking his head before giving the lady a soft smile. "My apologies for not knowing your station, milady. I've been uninformed of matters of court for quite some time now."
She wasn't terribly interesting, to his mind, but she was much better than the empty, looming silence of the garden. There was at least something worth his time, and one could never know when they might come upon a juicy piece of information. Back in the day, one of the easiest ways he managed to infiltrate the court was by, surprisingly enough, gossiping with the ladies. Countless secrets and weaknesses bubbled up, all from women of the court who weren't allowed to be officially heard, so they sought solace in idle chatter with a handsome stranger.
"I don't suppose I could interest you in a walk and a conversation?" Khaalius asked, tone hopeful.
His smile never leaving his face, the immortal offered Aidana his arm, angled down just a touch in case the woman found it too uncomfortable to hold onto the root of his forearm. Their heights were such a contrast that the woman barely reached his chest, and only just so his elbow. They likely couldn't manage proper form, but there was nothing for it.
"Tell me, milady, what brings you to Emberi?"

So he was an immortal. The way he said he had known one of her ancestors. She had met a few, of course, but never this one, despite his fine clothing and impeccable manners. She smiled softly at him as he spoke, dipping her head slightly as he apologized in a gesture to show all was good and that she had taken no offense at his lack of knowledge.
She studied him with brief glances, stealing a look at his long legs and well-built body. He was a fine man, with his dark curls and rather interesting eyes. There was something in them. Something wicked which made butterflies flutter around in her stomach. Her cheeks and ears even darkened in a blush. She should avoid including noblemen in her daydreams, it was not good for anyone. The more common folk would serve for that, they had moral troubles about accepting her coin and closing a hand around her neck for it. Even the - not so- fair maidens of the brothels had the strength and aura she sought whenever she decided to steal away into the night to visit the lower parts of the cities. No noble could know, however. It would serve as juicy gossip among the ladies and she would never be married and be able to have the respect she wanted from her husband at the same time if he knew. So she did her best to cover up the blush with a smile and her words.
"I would be delighted, Sir Sandrus. "
She took his arm the best she could and walked with him. She had gone in here alone, something she should probably have reconsidered, but it was rare she met anyone without status and bad intentions in the gardens.
"I attended the ball. Originally, I should have been back in Airen by now. Unfortunately, I was bitten by a werebeast, hopefully, I can travel again soon. "
She watched the flowers and plants as they walked. She turned her head to the man and looked up at him.
"What brings you to the Kingdom of Humans? I don't recall seeing you at the ball, Sir Sandrus"

Try as she might, the dwarven lady couldn't hide the coloring of her cheeks from Khaal. The immortal knew the signs of a woman who fancied him, and it was no surprise to him. Tall, dark, handsome and eloquent, it had been a long while since anyone, man or woman, could resist his charms when he decided to actually employ them. As expected of a nobleman, he made no gesture to indicate he had noticed her blush, nor her limp as they began moving. He merely adjusted his own gait to hers, which was something he would've had to do anyway, with or without her injury.
As she began to speak of the ball, he almost sighed inwardly, thinking it would just be another drab story about who danced with whom, but much to his surprise a werebeast was involved. Khaal instantly presumed the creature was the cause of his companion's lopsided pace. He glanced at her foot, but still gave no comment on it. The ancient man simply raised one inquisitive eyebrow at her. "A werebeast you say? Sounds like you've had quite an adventure, milady." He said, a flash of hungry curiosity going through his blue eyes as he looked at her.
The conversation carried on towards her question as they walked, and her words got a thoughtful humm from the immortal. "I travel a lot, mostly in search of new experiences." He began, voice smooth as silk. "Every once in a while though, I revisit some more... civilized places, if you will. Just to have a change of venue... And thus, that is what brings me here, dull as it may be." The man said, a slight mischief working itself into his expression as he smiled.
"Wish I were at the ball, milady. Perhaps I was wrong to stay away from the court – it certainly seems eventful these days." Khaal said with a light chuckle, gazing about for a moment before turning his attention back to her. "It must've given you quite a fright, no? A vicious creature such as that." He tsked. "I hope your injuries are healing along nicely. Werebeast bites can be quite tricky."
